dim clock
Yes, I can fix them - have done dozens before. Also the fix posted on TwinTurbo is twaddle and never, ever the problem.

Not an owner for long
A nice idea, but perhaps a little unrealistic for a 15-20 year old car.

Not an owner for long
You could get it fixed in the time it took you to sell a car with a faulty heater !

Keep going into saftey boost !
Yes, a restrictive exhaust will exacerbate detonation problems.

who has had this sickness bug
I went to bed at 8pm when I got home from work on Monday and didn't get up until Thursday afternoon. Mooched around for an hour or so and then went back to bed until Friday morning. What a waste of a week ...

who has had this sickness bug
I just had the flu thing last week, none of the :hurl: ...

Which Internet Security? AVG etc
Agree - Avast is my current favourite, it has overtaken AVG recently. I also use Comodo firewall - both free. I don't bother with Spybot though - far to much overlap in that market these days with AV and firewall products. Windows Defender is worth loading up for free though.

Ipod Shuffle - Fault
I see - maybe it's just down to how long you wait and it turns itself off/standby after a while. It's probably in the instructions, but I have never read them (obviously!).

Firefox Help??
Agree 100% re Norton - it's also the devils own job to remove it. I fixed a mates PC recently, he had already run an 'uninstaller' to cure the Norton disease and then I spent an hour and a half, properly clearing out Norton and making the machine boot properly, quickly and without ANY errors in the Event log. Kim, have you got any Add-Ons in Firefox - they are more likely to cause problems than anything else.

Ipod Shuffle - Fault
Good suggestion, because I have one and I know it turns itself off as soon as you unplug the headphones.

quick turbo question...
I was told by Pete at SE Nissan that he saw quite a number of cars with the 'wrong' turbos on them, so I guess it depends on what they had available on the day of manufacture.

Any Computer Buffs
I would recommend CCleaner for removing all the old crap from systems and also as an aid for cleaning up the startup.

IT blokes........
I think you either have to ditch the TalkTalk modem, or switch the new router to bridging mode. Not sure you can do that in the Linksys software though.

Off to Romania today
I did some work in Bucharest - an interesting place. Still got all the bullet holes in the walls !!

Boot struts ?
Presumably, it's either to stop the tailgate rising too rapidly, or there is some sort of resonance issue and it acts as a damper.
-
Boot struts ?
Actually, that would be helpful as I don't have it with me at the moment. If they are the same that may solve a problem ...
-
Boot struts ?
That would be brilliant - thanks. I'll measure the ones on her 350 then too.
-
Boot struts ?
One or two boot struts on the 350 have started to pack up and the boot lid tends to clunk you on the head in cold weather. Brief research would indicate they are unesscessarily expensive and so I'm wondering whether one from another Nissan would fit. Has any one got a suitable one that they could measure up the open/closed length for me ?

how accurate is the speedp reading on the TOMTOM...
If you are moving at a steady rate for more than about 5 seconds and the GPS can see plenty of satellites then it's reading will be pretty damn accurate. At 70 mph my BMW over reads by approx 1 mph, whereas the Z over reads by 6 mph.

Braking capabilitys - Zed Vs Merc Vito - A Warning for all!
I did better pads and better (read different) discs and it made little difference. That was probably because my old setup was probably still in good condition with no seized pistons etc. I did drive Timmy Turbo's car with standard setup and it was absolutely lethal ! No grab, no feel, would have been outbraked by a supertanker ....
