John Helps - RIP
Further update from IMOC :- Hello everyone Today I have been given some very sad news. John Helps, former member of the IMOC UK, sadly passed away on Tuesday 1st August, at 56 years young. Im sure that those of you who had the opportunity to meet this wonderful man will miss his colourful personality as well as the enthusiasm he displayed for his MR2 and RX7. Johns death is a truly sad loss. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family. One of John's three daughters, Josie, has informed me that everyone who knew John is more than welcome to attend the funeral which is to be held sometime next week. Donations to Diabetes and MSPCC. If you wish to obtain further information, please contact John's Daughter, Josie Medforth on 07814 171380. Thank you Jase

BMW X5 - Any good?
We had an X5 in our group on the way to Le Mans last year. Now while it did get left behind a bit, most of the reason was that it had to stop more than anyone else for fuel. I thought it was a 5 litre petrol, but maybe it was a 4.8. Anyway, it went OK and carried a heap of stuff and 4 people in reasonable comfort.

Auto to Manual Conversion
I used an RPS 'street' clutch and it is virtually the same feel as the stock one - eg light. It's about half as light as the cable operated clutch on my Xantia !

John Helps - RIP
I understand that John Helps passed away late last week. At the moment I have no more details than that, save for I believe his death may have been diabetes related. He was a member here and a frequent contributor in the relatively short time he owned a Z. If anybody has met him or knows him personally then we can send some flowers or make donation to a nominated charity etc. I hope to have some more details later and I expect something will already have been posted on IMOC, RX-7 forums etc.

ECU chip upgrade
Incidentky, running on 3 cylinders is not likely to be the ECU, more like a wiring problem somewhere (depending on which 3 cylinders), or perhaps a PTU problem.
-
ECU chip upgrade
You can't turn the speedo into MPH by chaning the ECU chip, you need either a speedo converter box, or a UK speedo, or to change some resistors in the Jap speedo.

interest / how much would you pay for...
An alarm is usually triggered by the current draw, rather than the light. Typically, interior lights turn off when you lock the door/set the alarm, so that shouldn't be an issue. This is just for when you get in and close the door - gives you a few seconds to find the ignition switch. Mine lights up when the head/sidelights are on, so it's not too much of a problem.
