  1. Speaking of bullet hole stickers, a bloke i know once had some BMW and Merc stickers with crosses through, in the style of WWII fighters with "wot i shot" stickers on the side. Anyone know where I can get some? the club should send them out with memberships!!
  2. SkylineDave, Assuming you ever come back to this stie again after 4 pages of abuse / constructive critisism, then know this. The only person you have to answer to is youself. If you can't shrug your shoulders and say "I like it" then don't do it. Otherwise stick to your guns and keep it. I think the angles in those photo's don't help. Also to be honest it isn't to my taste, but I have no taste so who am I to comment. Compared to lots of the highly modded cars on here mine is very boring, no mods at all to speak of, just std and blue. But to me it is the best car in the world, well my road anyway. Have fun mate, don't be a sheep and go with the herd, find your own way.
  3. The previous owner of my car was obviously so ashamed he ripped the fairlady badge off and now there is a dirty mark. If anyone wants to get rid of their badge, or knows where I can get a new one, I'll put it straight back on. I got hassel at work when ringing up for insurance quotes the lads heard me say Fairlady. F*** it, I'll whoop their Festa's and ST170's any day just to show them the badge on the back (assuming i ever find one) as per Billynomates comment. Take the pi55 when you pa55.
  4. Nice one Speedfreak. I've had mine for 7 days now and I've been trying to supress the urge to shout "I LOVE MY Z" since then. Seems I just failed to do that! It seems to have rained constantly except for today and I'm begining to understand about the brakes (scary moment on the A127 this morning). I've looked out for TT's today as I've heard they are easy prey, but no one wants to play. Kept up with a new Impreza STi WRX ACDC MOT XYZ though. I'll have him next time ;) I should have got one years ago.
  5. I just love my Z! What a car, what a bargain. I don't know what would possess anyone to ever buy a rep mobile or 'family' car (unless they were a rep or had a family!).

I've just spent 4 months looking at dodgy ones until I found mine, and even that needs some cosmetic stuff inside, although sound mechanicals. Almost all i've seen needed prop bearings at the very least. One I saw had no electrics to the passenger door, almost didn't spot it! Thing is they are getting old and people buy them for a year, do nothing and pass them on. Cheap thrills for 12 months at the new owners expence! They aren't the cheapest cars to run but my extensive 7 days of ownership prove beyond doubt (to me at least, don't ask the girlfriend) they are fabulous cars, worth keeping in good nick. Long live the Z!!
  7. Thank you all for your help. I can stop worrying now and get back to nailing the throttle as often as possible. I didn't realise these things were so fast and chuckable as they fell so large at town speed.
  8. From memory goosehonk is not a bad description. I haven't had a chance to see if the airfilter is std or not. Is it normal??
  9. Do all Z's do this? I've had a TT for 6 days :D and I've only opened it up recently as it's been raining a lot. I've noticed a noise, best described as a howl which lasts for about a second when I floor it and then goes while still at full throttle. It's deeper then turbo noise and as I say, it doesn't last all the time the throttle is buried. I've also notice OEM boost gauge goes right round to last mark, not between 3rd and 4th mark as described in buyers gauge. How can I tell if the car is running more boost then std? Could the noise be related to this, car is std as far as I know. Is there anything wrong or am I an automotive hypochondriac?
  10. I've finally picked up my first Z and I'm going to put my stereo in this morning. Under the hole where the head unit goes is a mesh grill with Bose written on it. There is nothing behind it and it's a bit scratched and looks tatty so what is there normally? Can I put a box with spring loaded flip top in there like on my old S13? The sides of the whole seems to narrow at the bottom so will this fit. If so, where can I get one. Thanks. Al
  11. I didn't get it from here, I saw it on autotrader. It's completely standard '92 TT manual in blue. It's an import with 54K. I did look on here for member cars, even went to see a few but didn't buy for one reason or another. I don't have any pictures yet but imagine a std blue one and your pretty much there. It's probably still on Autotrader, look under £6k and private sales. Chunk, the 200 is a manual. It's silver with 17" TSW rims, apart from that its standard. I shouldn't turn this into a 'for sale' thread so I'll email you the details.
  12. I've spent 4 months trying to find a decent manual TT and I've finally done it. I saw it today and I'll pick it up on Friday. Can't flipping wait, don't know how I'll sleep until then!       I've been looking on this site getting to know the Z and get tips on what to look for, so thanks too anyone who ever said anything useful on this forum. And yes, I am in the process of joining up. Heres looking forward to many miles of joy in my first 'proper' car and getting to know you lot :) Anyone want a '90 S13?
  13. Ajay, Like a pillok I've just done the same, I've joined but didn't see where on the paypal page to put my username in :slap: I was a paypal virgin! So when you recieve the payment from Alastiar Doubell (me!) please can you do the biz, thanks. Al
  14. If you do go for the 200SX you'll be able to keep it for years and they are still quick, although not 300ZX quick. I've had an S13 for 4 years (that cost me £3K then) and its been totally reliable. As a dialy driver its now on 130K with the original Turbo, all I've done is three oil changes a year, discs and pads and front dampers. It's still got loads of life yet and it's 14 years old!
  15. Is the HICAS effected with this type of converstion as it is speed sensitive? i.e. does everything happen earlier?
  16. 136, but I don't own a Z.......yet. This test might be slightly (very) flattering because they try to get you to buy a report at the end!
  17. I'm new to this 300ZX malarki (sp?) so please excuse the question. I'm about to buy a manwell TT if I can find a decent one, but the ones i've driven so far seem to know when 1st is engaged, the revs rise slightly. Is this an illusion or do they have some sort or switch on the 'box? Also, anyone know why i can't use the delete button in this 'Quick reply' box?
  18. i've always used fully suynthetic in the turbo cars i've run, apparently semi's can't stand the temps. My current car (now don't laugh, it's an S13 200SX) has run happily on Halford full synth for 5 years without a problem, now up to 120,000 miles and no smoke or noise (on original turbo!!!). I know 300's are more sensitive but the principal is the same. I tried Magnatec on the ZX (Bluebird, again, don't laugh, we all start somewhere!!) years ago until I realised it was semi and not fully synthetic, but to be honest in that car it didn't make much of a difference. Can't tell you the long term effects, I rolled it within a year!!
  19. Do SE have a web site?
  20. I think I can predict the answer to this question, but I'd appreciate your honest views on this. DO I BUY A Z? I've had he idea for a while so I've been looking at this site. The thing I've noticed is that a lot of you have Z's as second cars, or weekend drivers. I currently run a 1990 S13 200SX as my only car (girlfriend doesn't drive so I really depend on it). It's been totally reliable in the 4 years I've had it, only requiring the obvious pad, rotors and struts. It's a bit long in the tooth now, not knackered but tatty. I've got £5K together and before responsibilities overtake me I fancy one go at an outrageous car so the natural step seems an early 300ZX (manual TT). I think I'll be albe to get a 90 or 91 but will it get me to work every day? Any experiences of using one every day and what the pitfalls might be would be appreciated. Also will it go for a few years without requiring £K's? I don't expect crystal ball predictions, but some thoughts from those of you with experience would be good. :hyper:
  21. One good thing to come out of this is that due to your comment above, I've been laughing my arse off for the last few mins. I had a few "incidents" in my youth and I know that feeling well, l couldn't have put it better!! I stuck my car through a dry stone wall once (had to rebuild the wall in Feburary, effin cold) and was soo pissed off I threw my keys at it and ran up the road screaming. Locals thought I was a nutter and called the cops who breathalised me! Seriously mate, these thing have a habbit of sorting themselves out, keep your chin up.
