lisaf! sorry to invade thread but cant pm you for some reason? what time you planning to pass exeter? how many from plymouth area going? my friend is bringing his zed too so if time is suitable it would be good to run up together!
  4. i think if set up correctly with no det or lean fueling its not a problem! especially when i have fitted water injection and uprated fuel rail! also i am not a hard driver, i.e standing start's, or max speed mercant! and with only a couple of thousand miles a year i reckon ive got no problem for quit a while?? i will happily do forged pistons but not untill my golf mk2 engine conversion is finished! (mk5 2.0 turbo 300bhp) p.s when speed tested on rolling road speedo went off the scale (over 180) at 6.5k rpm is this right? speedo has been calibrated)
  5. yes good point must be the vapour! jimmer its not like my set up is unusual there are lots of zeds running my spec without forged pistons! (or more power) i think if set up correctly with no det or lean fueling its not a problem! especially when i have fitted water injection and uprated fuel rail! also i am not a hard driver, i.e standing start's, or max speed mercant! and with only a couple of thousand miles a year i reckon ive got no problem for quit a while?? i will happily do forged pistons but not untill my golf mk2 engine conversion is finished! (mk5 2.0 turbo 300bhp) p.s when speed tested on rolling road speedo went off the scale (over 180) at 6.5k rpm is this right? speedo has been calibrated)
  6. i have apexi line pressure controller (piggy back ecu) this keeps hydraulic pressure when changing gears so gear change speed increases! seems to work quite well only down side is that change is slighly harder! hope thatr helps?
  7. you new what i meant about the flames!! surely i have to run water or meth and stick to it? if i run just water and set jets to that if i then put 50% meth, im halfing to water and reducing cooling?? if i run meth this cancels out water power lose and because of the 120 octane ot converts fuel too it can give 30 bhp when set-up right? apparently! but its the burning risc im not sure about? (system pressure 150-180psi p.s if you completely mix 50 50 water meth why does the meth still burn????????
  8. sorry i meant 16 psi it must be my fat fingers or wishfull thinking!! any one else got any senseible replies???
  9. blitz sus induction G reedy side mount i/c's jd chip ;) apexi boost controller nismo 555 injectors smithy's t25/y28 hybrid turbo's (set at 126psi) ported and flowed exhaust manilolds split divorse down pipes custom de-cat pipes scorpion silencers this is my spec! i want to make my engine safer without having to fit forged pistons this year! also looking at uprated fuel rail to eliminate no 6 cylinder lean problem! what do you think???
  10. hi guys im going to invest in water injection to help protect my engine! do i fit std water only setup which lowers combustion chamber temperatures and allow extra boost if required, or fit water/methanol injection! which obviously does the above and the additional methanol gives added octane rating (120 ron) and extra oxygen! giving abit more power without raising psi! i spoke to my rolling road expert who builds and races rally cars and he has suggest water only as meth power gain wasnt large and when he used on rally stage system pressure hose blew off and caused engine bay fire! trouble is methanol burns with no flames at all so can be very dangerous!!!!!! do i go for boring water of risk methanol?????????????????? p.s sorry its long winded :nono:
  11. hi guys ive been off and chated to my rolling road guy (who builds rally cars) and read almost every blown engine thread on this site and have come up with a theory and wanted to no youre ideas please???? most engines blow because of no 6 cylinder being the last on fuel rail and running leaner than the rest! correct? people fit forged pistons to cope with this extra temperature? which in my theory only masks the problem! if i fit upgraded fuel rail to eliminate problem and water/methonal injection to reduce all cylinder temperatures this will give me a realiable high power engine (500bhp) with out having to pull my engine again this year??? the good thing about water injection is that it creates power which would allow me to run slightly less boost for same power gain??? what are youre thoughts please???????????????????????????????????

im free too, count me in! only down the road in exeter and zed is back on road this week after being of it for 18 months!!!!! ive not met any of you guys yet but hoping to get to japfest too!! :nana2: regards steven
  13. so would fitting uprated fuel rail help?? water injection?? in the long run im just trying to avoid removing engine and aviod rebuild in the future!!! but i cant have everything!!
  14. well going by the speed i type that car must of lasted longer than i thought it might!!!!
  15. 1000fwhp on stock internals???? how long would that last????????????????????
  16. i fitted new det sensor and loom when engine was out and am running ZFR7F-11 plugs as john dixon is!! just thinking of a safe way to get more power without having to pull engine for the 3rd time! if i run water injection, have no det and good fueling how far could i go??? may be i/c spray coolers are a way to go?? that way i can get more bhp from the pressure i already am running???
  17. so as ive got t28 hybrids and nismo 555 injectors ive still room to play??? im no where near 600fwhp! trouble is even with good fueling there must be a point where combustion chamber cant take any more??? i carried out power run at 18psi and afr was still good through out rev range but was worried i was getting carried away?? thanks for the help so far!! regards steve
  18. sort of wish i chucked some more bits in when i had engine out!! but funds wouldnt stretch any more! its been of the road for a year so i want to keep it on the road at least for the summer! when dyno run at 16psi there was defo no detonation and i had plenty of fueling! even that into account would a piston still let go purely because of too much pressure????? to be honest i never accelerate at max boost for long (i.e flat out ) on rolling road i couldnt get a read out as combination of loads of torque and positive camber ment i had wheel spin throught out rev range so haveing a job making boost!!
  19. hi guys, been playing with my zed on rolling road today and was woundering what psi i can safely run at with stock internals and head gasket???? we set up at 16psi and through out rev range she was still running abit rich!! chip was made for smithy's zed with upgraded pistons and rods! this is my set-up! :nana2: blitz sus induction G reedy side mount i/c's apexi avcr boost controller nismo 555 injectors smithy's t28 hybrid turbo's ported and flowed exhaust manilolds split divorse down pipes custom de-cat pipes scorpion silencers i dont want to strip and rebuild engine again is water injection a good way to go!
  20. i have just completely removed mine and done my own pump conversion which involves removing hicas pump vanes, very tidy and save shed loads of wait! i never liked hicas as i thought it was slow to react and made it feel like the same as vw golf with knackered axle bushes!! removal of all parts and any mods etc would probally take you 1 sat with lots of tea breaks!!
  21. i fitted autometer c2 temp gauge for my auto box oil, i removed sump pan and had union for sendor welded to it! works a treat!
  22. think i have to side with my bike aswell! i have ducati modded 748 and well modded tt and think bike would win hands down! if you work out bhp per tonne for example! my bike rolling roaded at 115 bhp for 250kg bike = 460 bhp per tonne my car approx 450 at 1750kg - 260 bhp per tonne!
  23. smithy on the forum! good price and super guy to deal with!!
  24. thats already done mate! all is within spec, any one with any ideas please!! how about cutting off couple of inches of coil spring on front??? he he!
