  1. I just can't believe people! Just spoke to one of the partners at the first garage and he went and looked at my car. In his opinion I'm being fussy and you can only notice the marks if you look and there are only a few marks here and there. He also said I should compare it to how it was when they brought it there! lol They're all having a meeting tomorrow to decide what they intend to do but the fact they all think I'm being fussy and are comparing the job to when they took it on suggests they're not gonna play ball. I can't believe they're happy paying £4.5K for a job with marks every where but that's their problem! Looks like it may have to go down the legal route :(
  2. does this help? http://300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=el&dir=&config=&refresh=&slide=126&cycle=off&scale=0&design=default&total=133 here ya go - http://300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=at&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=38&design=default&total=194
  3. I've left it to the 2 garages to sort out as as of now, no money has swapped hands between the 2 of them. To be honest, I'd prefer my car to go somewhere that have a bit more pride in their work and not be happy to give somone's car back with marks. I'll see what they have to say by tomorrow but if they refuse to do it again PROPERLY I don't see why the first garage should pay them. I really don't like the idea of my car being left there though but won't remove it untill I've got legal advice. Do I just go and see a normal solicitor or do they specialise in this sort of thing? Cheers guys, Vijay
  4. pretty certain you can get tools designed just for removin locking wheel nuts. What type are they?
  5. Not good news I'm afriad. I went and looked at the car cos I was told it was finished to find them still working on it. I didn't even have to look at the whole car as just the passanger side is a mess. There are marks in the paint, pinholes, places where they haven't stoppered it and they were putting it back together. I told them I wouldn't accept the car as there are marks everywhere and their response was that I was being way too fussy and compared to how the car was when it came to them, that I should be happy. They moaned that they've made a loss on the job and that no aftermarket respray would be perfect with no marks and they would not respray it again. I don't exactly have a problem with that as I don't think they're capable of doing it! Glad to say I kept calm and didn't even raise my voice cos there really was no point (even though I'm pretty livid about their attitude) but I kept asking for the reason why there were marks and specs of crap in the paint only to be told it was cos the car has surface rust :wack: Don't exactly know where I go from here as I don't know what money has exchanged hands but all I know is I want my car out of there. I'm so fed up with so called proffesionals who are happy to give back a job that so obviously isn't right. Why should I have to point out inperfections if they know what they're doing :headvswal
  6. First thing I would try cos it doesn't cost much is to clean up all your connectors and reset your ECU
  7. Just found out that the new bodyshop have charged the old one £4.5 to do my car :O There was a lot of fillerwork and making good on panels but that's a lot of dough!!!!
  8. Could be as simply as a coilpack connector not seating properly. Happened to me once, was once off my a mm or so but enough to cause a missfire Vijay
  9. cheers guys, Yellow Pages it is :)
  10. Vince, does that picture look normal to you? I mean the edge where the top of the strut is
  11. Just looked and there is a line of mastic in a join but in that pic it looks like a repair
  12. lol, not at that point just yet ;)
  13. Cheers guys. I already know what they'll say and that's that the car needed so much prep work on each panel which to me is just an excuse. Quite surprise as they've done some nice cars in there, seen a Ferarri, Maserati, E type, 2 old Ford Mustangs so they obviously do some high end cars. In my mind the job should be the same no matter what car it is.
  14. Hi, Just wondering where I would take a scrap car to be weighed in for good old hard cash? I asked the local scrap metal place and they don't buy steel. Cheers Vijay
  15. Just remembered, they done some extra bits so they got a total of £3600 for the actual repsray but I assume I should still have a quality job for that?
  16. This one is much better quality than Halfords (they're not too far from me so when and looked) made by http://www.sumex.es. Would still like a plastic one though but will be happy with that one if I can't find plastic :) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260276438903&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016 Vijay
  17. Hi, Just wondering if anyone has any suggestion on where I can get this from? Halfords one is very flimsy and the black scrapes off way too easy judgjng by the ones on their shelves. B&Q doesn't do black. Wouldn't mind a plastic one if they did it as then it wouldn't have the problem if stones chips Cheers Vijay
  18. Cheers guys. I'll point things out when they've finished and see what they have to say. Just bugs me that these people are so called experts and shuold be noticing these things without me pointing them out
  19. problem is the painter is away for 2 weeks and I don't want my car on the street
  20. Cheers guys. Think I'll go over it and point out anything I'm not happy with and see what they have to say. Won't accept any excuses!
  21. I hate excuses too. When I pointed out one mark, the guy said "well there was a lot of work gone into this to get it ready", I just thought that's an excuse, not a reason! That was the point of this thread to ask if I would be reasonable to expect 100%
  22. so not 1 single mark? Would you have them re-do every panel that wasn't 100% prefect?
  23. well the originl bodyshop had a total of £4100 to do the job and that was a bare metal respray. They've lost out bigtime cos their sprayer was so crap and wasted so much materials. This bodyshop basically had to prep every panel and build up
  24. I honestly don't know how much they've charged as I'm not picking up the tab, the original garage are paying for it and arranged for it to go into this bodyshop but I was told it was over 4K but I don't know if that's bull. All I know is there was a hell of a lot of work getting all panels right. Would you accept any marks at all on the paint? How fussy would you be?
