Hi Steve, Firstly, most Nissan main dealers don't have a clue about 300zx's so what they have checked - who knows? They'd probably run a Consult check (diagnostic) which would just show if the ECU is picking up any errors. Nissan dealers would not tell you what BHP it was kicking out!! The timing belt is changed every 60k or 5 years, so it would be a good idea to see when it was last changed as this can be quite expensive to do. I'd ask what he spent 10k on? And maybe it's just be but the "magnet" bit of his mail - is that really how to sell a car? Vijay

code 34 is a fault in the det circuit - either the det sensor itself or the wiring up to the ECU. Vijay
