  1. That's why it's no.3 in my all time most beautiful cars list! http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=129377
  2. Mercedes might not be what they once were, but they still have an image that is sky high, no matter what the age. Take my E280. 9 years old, 166,000 miles (and increasing) and most importantly, still brings a smile to my face. As a bonus, people still make complimentary comments and love going for a ride in the 'limousine'...great! Thank god Mercedes divorced Chrysler. Never understood what he saw in her!
  3. Gosh! All these 20 year olds with Zeds... I was 16 when it was released, dreamed of having one for 19 years and then finally got one a couple of months ago at the ripe age of 35! Mind you, I've had other nice cars in between, but I admire anyone who has the opportunity to get a Z at 20! By 35, I can see a shiny new blood red Ferrari outside your mansions. Good luck guys!
  4. I think it's all in jest so don't take it to heart and sorry to hear about your loss. Money and cars can never bring them back or lessen the pain but at least they can give focus your mond on pther things (gosh, that was deep!).
  5. Great to c the debate in full flow!
  6. Fantastic. Whare is the engine from?
  7. I suppose it's ultimately a personal thing as well as a generational thing. We all look for different things in a car and as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I certainly agree with the Muira being in the list (even though I find the lights very strange but the rest is definitely stunning). I'm also glad that you haven't included the recent Ferraris as so many similar models have been released over the last 5 years that they all blur in to 1 for me! The 355 is so close to the 348 that we probably agree on that one!
  8. Apologies if this has been threaded before, but I thought it would be an interesting discussion. Below are my Top 10 most beautiful cars: Jaguar XJ220 Ferrari F40 Nissan 300ZX (Z32) Mercedes SLR McLaren Ferrari 348 Ferrari Testarossa Mercedes SL (2003-2008. Sadly the latest design is ugly at the front.) Aston Martin DB9 Mercedes CLS Mercedes S Class (1999-2006)
  9. My personal view is that you should only have one if you want one, i.e. if your heart says 'yes!'. If it doesn't, then may be it could be giving more pleasure to someone else who really wants one. However, if the decision is a practical and financial one, and you have a requirement for a car that can seat 4 in comfort, then I understand that the Z may not be the right choice as the only car.
  10. Thanks but I suppose my question is actually the reverse of the thread above. i.e. what Z32 parts have been used by other mass-market cars when new, like the 1999 Diablo.
  11. As most of you probably know, the 1999 Lamborghini Diablo VT used the headlamps from the Z32. Are there any other parts of the Z which have been used on non-Nissans?
  12. At long last, some sun! That means a full day of washing and waxing, followed by some topless shots. What do you think?
  13. Definitely a much purer shape without the spoiler, especially the huge one you had on (not a fan of big spoilers, especially on such a classy car).
  14. My personal opinion (which is why I fell in love with the Z as a kid and why the 350Z/370Z/GT-R are in some ways so disappointing) is that it is simply beautiful, classy and timeless in a way that very few cars (apart from Ferraris). When you then add the interior, which again is one of the most beautiful ever created, then visually there really is very little competition. That for me is what makes it different from almost any other car on the road. As FunkySi said, and no offence to any owner (only if you also own a Z), but the Supra so, so ugly. That front reminds me of that terrible Corolla that was released in 98, and that alone means it should not be on the same Car Park as the Z...
  15. Hi, Any member live in Basingstoke? It would be great to meet up and exchange ideas, issues solutions etc.
  16. ebay are definitely rip of merchants. I have now idea how anyone is now making money selling anything, unless ofcourse you get the item for free in the first place...
  17. May be we can get Jeff to relocate...he did say that few of his customers are in the Midlands. Jeff - can we invite you down here???
  18. Yes, it's true, Detective Jeff has solved the mystery...again! The issues with my new Z (new to me anyway) and documented in a separate thread, but after pondering whether to make the long journey from Basingstoke to Tamworth, I finally decided to take the plunge today and was not disappointed. Jeff fans abound on this forum and for good reason. His knowledge, professionalism and attitude is second to none and he deserves all the success he gets. I drove away with a completely different car to the one I came in with. My problems were: - Engine lacked power below 4000 revs and was hesitant. - The who car vibrated at times. - The rear suspension wallowed and bounced around. The engine issue was obviously the biggest and after hooking up the PC, he immediately identified it as a timing issue. He resolved this by first bypassing the knock/detonation sensor (it's a NA to not an issue) and then reset the timing to the correct value. The difference was immediate! New rear shocks and new gearbox bushes later, i now have a car that is fast, smooth, and with the new shocks and gear bushes, very tight and controllable. Perfect! On a side note, I have to express my disappointed with ZTech. I visited them a month ago and even though they spent much longer than Jeff asessing the car, their summary was: - Cambelt not on correctly, hence why the timing is wrong. - Shocks are gone, but the rear springs are also broken! I was very suspicious of both of the above, especially the cambelt. My logic was simple; when the cambelt was changed by the previous owner 30-40,000 miles ago, why did he not notice the huge performance dip and go straight back to the garage? Anyway, great job Jeff and I would urge anyone with any issues to visit Jeff, no matter how far.
  19. No, the compression test is more about the health of your cylinders. I have a similar problem to yourself and am planning to see Jeff this coming weekend (Jeff - looking forward to your reply!). :-) The car is basically lethargic to 4000 revs (and hesitant) and then suddenly wakes up and becomes a banshee. I'm guessing it's a combination of timing, ecu settings (i.e. could be in standby mode) and air/fuel flow related issues. Based on what I've heard and red, Jeff is the man. Let me know if you get to him before me...I would love to know what happened.
  20. Give me a Murano anyday; very nice. The best however must be the Infiniti FX50. Now that is awesome!
