I was also told that only a couple of places in the UK will refurb because once they're split it is a major problem getting them to reseal as they musy go back exactly as they came apart. How long you had the car? Because the Z has climate control the incroments are in degrees centigrade and 40C is hot. So if the central vents don't work I'd say you dash has been out and some of the ducting dumped. Which is comon with these cars. However in the lower duct O/S (just above the steering columb under dash) there is a thermo probe. if this duct is missing, prob not connected or connected but not in the duct and pushed back near the matrix you heater will either be on full or reading the matrix temp instead of the air temp going into the car.

That usually is accompanied with crankcase presure and dipstick poping out.

Is it smoking all the time? and worse on over run = fooked turbo oil seals or is it smoking just when you set off and when your foot comes off the gas. = fooked Valve stem guide seals Or is it smoking at over 3000 rpm and while you have your foot in the gas hard= Broken piston or rings Have you installed bigger injectors? or had your injectors out off the fuel rail to be sevices? If so check your oil levels and smell the oil on your dip stick. If it smells of petrol you may have split injector seals and be over fueling. It is easy to damage the injector seal rings when reinstalling. If it does smell of petrol take the plugs out and get some one to turn her over (cover their eye with goggles) if you've split a injector ring this way you'll know which one. Remove and re install with new top and bottom seals + plenyt off oil so it doesn't snag again. If you have an over fueling problem because if a split injector seal then I suggest you replace the rings on that piston as the feul boar washes and wears the rings away so fast its un true.

That is the most important and most overlooked mod of all as it's that bit of the car that holds you to the road or doesn't. I recomend Bridgestone S02's if you can get them or Perrelli Rosso Neros ZR rating. Not cheep but They are almost ride flat tyres. Had a imediate deflation at 95 mph last week. Volvo S60 D5 average about 44 to the gallon leather and loads a of toys. Handles well and about 160 bhp, but you can get the sports chip for £380 fitted by Volvo tuning and that bumps it up to 230bhp and still 40+ to the gallon. Or a nice Volvo C70 T5 will do 40 to the gallon on the motorway at 80mph averages about 25mpg, but 250bhp standard and more torque than a fish wife and £430 you can have it Rica chipped at Volvo tuning and hey presto 320bhp, 430 pounds of torque and better fuel comsumption than before. Rocketship armchair. With the Rica chip it'll wee on most Porsches pre 997
