  7. sounds like the maf(AFM). Remove the nose panel (between the headlights (2 bolts)) you'll see a big Y-piece of rubber with a plastic tube and and a connector going to it. if you remove that and dry it out and clean connectors and see how you go. alternatively (just to prove it) - disconnect it and car will run fine up to 2500rpm You may have an aftermarket air filter and no splash guard so filter and maf got wet.
  8. if you havent got conzult how/whereabouts do you disconnect the AIV? Ive just set my TPS right and want to set the base idle. I presume I need to unplug the fly lead of the TPS and adjust the screw on the aiv. However just not sure where the plug for the aiv is and what the hard idle bits about.
  9. Does spraying the hotwire in the MAF with alcohol or carb cleaner actually make a difference? Anyone done it and noticed more power?

  11. are the decats just a straight bit of pipe? I ask because I paid a local exhaust company on my old zed to remove the cats. They charged me £60 and gave me back the cats - They just replaced with straight bit of pipe. Is this all it is?

  13. Therefore: 1.Disconnect the base idle valve. 2.Set the base idle around 750rpm. 3.Set the TPS. 4.Disconnect the TPS for a while or disconnect the battery for 1 hour. Is the base idle valve the big grey plug that comes off the TPS? Also do you disconnect the tps when setting base idle?
  14. Found out whats wrong :) Its bottoming out on the original rear arch. I thought these should be cut away??? - will check drivers side later today when light but the original arch has all paintwork rubbed off where its rubbed. If thats the case can i Just cut rear arch myself and paint with summit like hammerite to stop it rusting or is it a bodyshop job.
  15. I drink Newcastle Brown - Top drink just out of interest - anyone tried "Dab" - its a german beer, 5% and bloody lovely - 8 bottles for a fiver at local Rhythm & Booze.
  16. Been trying to get some for my connectors i.e. water temp sender, coilpacks, battery etc. Been told by 2 local motorfactors to just use normal copperslip grease. Is this any good for electrical contacts??? Or should I just wait and get some proper electrical contact grease.
  17. isnt the silkolene pro real thin - like water thin? is there any difference between silkolene pro s and silkolene pro rs 10/50 or are they the same? gonna do an oil change later on today
  18. removed it - cleaned it - realised I have no liquid/instant gasket - is the copper washer thats on it good enough or do I need proper gasket sealant? Also. .. Can you buy a new yellow plastic housing as mines broke.

  20. Hi mate, when you had Martins car and pulled the engine you done a water bypass. Do you remember (long time back) if you removed/bypassed the EGR too. Just thinking of doing it and not sure exactly where it is but some say when water bypass are done the egr sometimes is too. Cheers
  21. can you just unscrew this out and put another in without losing too much water? just wondered whether itsd a real quick job or you have to drain coolant system first?
  22. Is magnatec 15/40 any good? I got some but havent put it in yet. I think thats what nissan use. (not necessarily magnatec but 15/40 semi)
  23. Si - have you done the 02 sensor check? you can do it with your ECU. do a search - cant remember where it is but its the 2nd part of the ecu diags.
