  1. the gearknob was on order before the work was done but for some strange reason Razo decided to stop making the one i wanted (on the left which matches the steering wheel  ) but after much deliberation (and a bit of friendly advice from Chris ;) ) i went for the other one. also got some nice new pedals on the way too :) Hmmmm well i must say in a way i kind of miss the auto - the smoothness and ease of driving, the excitement of guessing when it'll change down while youre going around a roundabout or long corner :p but now, as many people have said, it feels like a different car. it seems to handle better, it seems 'freer' from filter through to exhaust - difficult to explain! unfortunately with the rain today i wasnt able to try out the old 0-60 test ;) all in all you definately feel more in control of the car, and closer to the road (pictures himself earlier on hunched over the wheel, throwing the gearlever around like Colin McRae  ) In my opinion if your autobox is working fine and youre not filthy rich then stay with it but put a little bit aside for if (when :x: ) the box decides to give up the ghost. On the other hand if you can afford to part with £1500-£1700 then GO FER IT!
  2. (or, no longer the Knackered Knight Rider  :nana2:  ) picked her up this morning (crapping myself!) after driving the Z in auto form for about 18 months. once i'd gingerly moved her around a bit (and stopped trapping my foot beneath the clutch pedal :p ) i got the hang of it. the pedal bites at just about the right point (although i had to bring my seat forward an inch or so, so that i could depress the pedal fully!) Driving home i found the car to be more responsive, the ApexI BOVs sound so much better ( :hyper: ) and i found myself getting braver and throwing the car around corners more - as i knew the auto would have changed down at the worst moment and span me off the road! The exhaust sounds better too - the small changes in tone as i use the clutch make for a more interesting sound - not just a bland tone all the time. All in all im glad i had the work done - cant wait to jump back in her again and take her for another spin. Its also nice to be able to do 60mph in less than 6000rpm (my auto only had 1st and 2nd!) All i need now is a gearknob (Chris is sorting one out for me as we speak) as ive got little lines in my hand where i was holding onto the 'knobless' gearlevel for dear life!!! I may have a few bits and bobs up for sale from the conversion, but ill put them up later in the for sale section.
  3. Saw you driving around the corner of Shackerdale Rd. at about 10.30 Sat morning.
  4. NO! that cant be real!!!
  5. ok why not - ive read through the T&C and i cant find any [obvious] catches
  6. TBH Nissan's own brochure on the 300 quotes the auto as being 7.1 (gawd only knows how or why - maybe they had HOLD on by accident :p ) but i cant imagine lax power buying all the brochures and quoting figures from them.
  7. lol HOW guilty do i feel? i'll have to find some more. :)
  8. underdrive pulley, blitz boost controller, greenstuff pads
  9. well CONGRATULATIONS to you and your daughter mate! ive just come from Manchester this morning. im sure she'll do just fine. have a :duffer: for me too matey!
  10. was flicking through the missus' Cosmo the other day and they had a page devoted to techie-terms to help women out - what BHP meant, what ABS meant etc. etc. (they seemed to think an Audi TT has 170bhp - correct me if im wrong tho!) anyway the fun bit was when they came to FWD, RWD, 4WD - they said that this is which wheels are connected to the engine and STEERING WHEEL!    rear-wheel-steer forklift anyone?
  11. owner of a mint-looking black TT. anyone???
  12. They seem to think a Z32 TT 0-60 is 7.1   ...nothing to do with us helping to kick up a stink about them messing Steer From the Rear around by any chance :D

    lol what a dickhead.
  14. ok cheers olly. i'm getting the car back tomorrow (fingers crossed) so will have a play the the options (mental note: dave, don't over-lean the mixture)
  15. lol cool arent they. i got them ages ago but i cant remember from where - that's the lot im afraid
  16. i had a close shave with one a few weeks ago - launched off the lights late one evening, only got up to 35 before i eased off. as i was pulling up to the next set of lights a copper slowed down alongside me, looked at me, shook his head slowly, then drove on. respect to him tho - he could have pulled me over and gone through the routine but instead he just gave me an 'informal' warning.
  17. damn i got outbid while i was away for a few days with the missus (thank fook ;) )
  18. congratulations Rich - thoroughly deserved  :D
  19. i'll let you know tomorrow if im still a winning bidder :slap: cheap enough to take the risk i suppose.
  20. hi mark - i tried that but it didnt make any difference :( i mean to be truthful they arrive with about 30mm of thread. i turned this down to about 8mm (bugger of a job if the car's not in the air) but it didnt make the slightest bit of difference. when the car's back i'll try taking it from 8mm to 4mm but i cant see it curing the problem. :(
  21. if that panel didnt have suspension stuff over it i'd say it was a water/gunk shield for the filter. air filters dont make any noise anyways do they? - except a kind of suck/thud when you floor it but you wouldnt hear it cos of where it is.
  22. Hi guys, I'm trying to pin down my stall-after-dump problem and after going through all the menus on my Super-AFC2 I found one which I think says 'decel adjust' (haven't got car at mo so can't tell for sure). When I go into this screen Ive got three options: first one is four *'s but can be adjusted upwards in percentages, and the other two are both set at 10% (I-something 1 and I-something 2). I think that once these are set correctly I may be able to solve my problem. Could anyone tell me what theirs are set to? Cheers for any help, Dave.
  23. like Ray says mate, its real easy to splice together (if thats the problem). i managed to literally rip a wire in half when i was pulling my old wheel off to upgrade to a Momo but a bit of tape, make good, sorted ;)
  24. true, tho i think there's an extra Alfa Romeo GT, plus the Golf R32.
