Gearbox Saga (Auto Obviously)
Umm... isnt over drive for motorway cruising? If it not then i'd be doing 70mph @ 5k rpm (ish) over drive drops it to 3k rpm.

just having a moan!!!!
Haha, another Rs Turbo lover, escort or fiesta? Mines on pistonheads at the moment, i do miss how simple they are to work on.

Missfire
Pete, i swear, you must be working on my car, lots of similar problems, popped off my balance tube yesterday, lots of oil inside the plenum (and fuel). I have a known pcv issue though, no restrictor OR wire brush in the drivers side of the pcv system. Some dick has replaced the drivers side with just a long hose. Apparently that allows a lot of oil to get sucked in on vacuum, i.e. after throttle.

Speed Sensor / Fuel Leak
i know, i was smoking on the other side if the parking lot, lol, all dried up now, until i prime the fuel pump again...

Speed Sensor / Fuel Leak
Typical isnt it, tightened up my fuel piping on the plenum cuz i had a small leak when i start the, all was fine for a couple days. Cold night last night, started the car this morning to just move parking space, fuel everywere, long line of fuel from the old parling space all the way to the new. Look under the car, was pouring from under the engine, quickly turned it off. grrrr :headvswal :headvswal Anyway, plenum is coming off. So the speed sensor, i readon here some managed to re-magnetise their speed sensor. So i finally bought a jack and 2 axle stands, popped out the sensor, i couldnt see ANY way of getting to the coil inside the sensor. Does anyone know how to re-magnetise the sensor? i.e. how to dismantle a speed sensor.

Missfire
My RS turbo did this ( i know its a different car, but same symptoms ), on boost it would suddenly misfire and splutter until the revs came down then it would be fine again. Turned out to be a dodgy dizzy cap, no obvious signs either, just some very minor cracking. Changed it, worked perfect after that. I would defo do the arcing test on the coil packs mate, when i first bought my z, it also had the same problem, that turned out to be a 'split' coilpack, the rubber / plastic bit near the tip. Again, replaced the dodgy one and all was fine. Hope this helps point you in the right direction.

Petrol leak help
Holy crap, could you not smeel it from inside the car when driving it, mine was leaking last week and i got all lightheaded from it so i had to sort (not because its a major fire risk) In fact when i first bought my z it was pissing fuel from every orifice, braided fuel hoses say it all. lol Good that your sorted it though mate.

Petrol leak help
hehe pete, SPRAYING? Thats some bad leak, you been fiddling ;)

Petrol leak help
Mine needs doing too, i have that braided hose crap on all my fuel hoses under the plenum. You cant beat standard soft fuel hose for 'seal o bility' IMO

Petrol leak help
Thats a bugger, i changed 2 rs turbo engines in the street, oil everywhere, fun times. You just need something to keep all the bits in, easy to lose a random nut or screw on tarmac, besides that its only the same as doing it in the garage, unless of course it rains, looks good today though :) Luckily for me i have a multi storey car park in my apartment block, lost of space and lighting, just no power socket, grr. Go for it mate, just make sure you have some sealant handy, WD40 and fuel piping and clips. Its not that bad, good learning exercise too.

Petrol leak help
You are having lots of problems arent you, i have a fuel leak too, but mines coming from around the fuel reg. Ive done 2 plenum removals, first time took me ages, hardest part is remembering where everything went, looks like i might need to do another, my air reg bolt are sheared off :( Just get it off and get in there, do it properly, you'll kick yourself down the line if it leaks again and causes serious issues mate. Also, while you are in there i would replace with new fuel piping, betting the old one has gone still by now, like mine have.

Boost with stock restrictors (not stock)
Yeah mate, lots of trouble later, 14k engine, still a pile of crap... I will probably buy one, i live in an partment block, nowhere to store it and they weigh a tonne, hehe. Ive tried getting to it from the engine bay drivers side, i couldnt manage it with my big hands, passenger was easy tho. Runs like a bag on nails, wouldnt mind comparing it to another working Z tt, my rs turbo is faster, and that has no engine... (jokes) ^^

weird clicking from drivers door
Could be your alarm if you have one. My clifford locks the doors via the central locking when i hit 3000 RPM. If your alarm is trying to lock the car but cant, it will keep trying. I noticed this when i didnt close my door properly.

Boost with stock restrictors (not stock)
Ah, thats the stuff, thanks all. Is it possible to remove the pipe with the tip in from underside of the car, i have some issues at the moment and im planning on sorting them all when i get hold of a jack? Speed Sensor Knackered too. Jeff, when are you open again, tried calling on the 23rd but you'd closed for xmas, in need of some part and possibly some advice too.

Boost with stock restrictors (not stock)
Ok, can anyone say technically why its a bad thing? What damage could it do? Surely not enough boost would be produced, so would the other turbo be over boosting? i.e. over compensating? Im just curious and trying to understand it from a technical point of view :)

Hi guys first time 300zx tt manual owner from manchester just sayin hi
Hi Scott maybe its your TT i keep seeing going up the A6 in stockport, cant remember what colour it was now though

Boost with stock restrictors (not stock)
Ok, my current situation is that i have a mapped ecu, standard new tubs, forged rods and pistons and AVCR bc. Problem is the stock boost restrictor (not the solenoid, the actual mig tip insdie the pipe) was taken out of the passenger side, but left in the drivers side. What effect would this have when trying to reach 15psi or 1 bar boost? Would the passenger side compensate? is it even a problem that its still in there? Can the pipe be accessed from under the carwithout removing any components?

Boost Leak Detector / Trolley Jack
