I never thought that amount of damage to the crank would have caused such premature wear that the engine would be knocking already. Glad you've got it almost sorted! That crank will probably last as long as any other, provided that everything else was machined to the correct tolerance for the new shells.

Looks to be taking shape now. I took a picture of the 'Unity' node in 99 and the 'Harmony' node this year before launch. I can't believe the fookers are all up there now! No-one was allowed to see this stuff after 9/11, but they've opened the ISS tour back up at KSC. It's probably true that the under 25's think the car is "old," however I'm studying with a bunch of 18 year olds at the moment and they're always asking questions about the old zed. It may be old, but it's obviously still worth talking about!

My tax office asked me for a MIRAS 5 form to show how much mortgage interest I paid during 2001 (FFS. :xxx: ) After paying the building society to issue this form and sending it off to the tax office, they are now saying that it doesn't show the amount of interest paid. I fail to see how, because it was a fooking endowment mortgage, so every penny was interest. I've been battling them over this for months now and it's really causing me lots of stress. They send me shitty letters EVERY fooking friday, to ruin my weekends. they also get more interest each time they do this. The job's worth in question had left the office early tonight, so I now have to wait AGAIN :rant: Can I sue these pr1cks or what? I have sent them all the required information and I now feel that they are stalling me for time and to gain extra interest on the amount owed. Cheers Dave

That's exactly what I thought. The re-sale value will always be low on this kind of car. In a few years, zeds which have been modified like this will be worth less than totally stock ones. That's what happenning with C3 Corvettes anyway, which are only old GM cars.

Looks like that Vel Satis engine is getting dumped then - good move IMO.

I once had one pull out of a garage in front of me. I was doing 50 mph and the gap between me and the car in front was less than a bus length. The F40 got into the gap without me needing to brake! Many are tuned more than stock, or so I've heard.

This is probably a dumb-assed question, but knowing that ozone can be created, why can't we generate enough to replenish what's missing up there or does the problem lie in getting it up there?

Had one of these Chrysler 300's in front of me this morning. I thought they were quick. He booted it and I easily caught him up. Just found out they're under 200hp. Nice looking car, but shame that the 5 litre V8 is choked so much.

Hi. When the PTU plays up it's usually just one output (or cylinder) that goes down. Having said that, it is also possible that it has failed completely, or that the +12v supply isn't getting to it due to a wiring problem. The CAS sensor can also cause hesitation problems, but wouldn't normally result in a no-start situation.

If I spent £2,800 on a spoiler I'd be feeling guilty at having too much disposible income :p. My Z has the original water-storage type spoiler, but does feel light and unsteady at 160+. As someone correctly said earlier, we'd need to take out a second mortgage to run these speeds daily. I can burn 5 gallons in no time :D .

Since I converted to manual some years ago, my zed will stall if I leave the heater blower switched off. Is there some ECU mod which might prevent this? The ECU diag shows 55. Cheers Dave
