Drivers Side door lock...broken
This happened to mine. A quick trip down the scrappy's and i had a couple of old micra ones. Not a 100% acurate fit but using 2 of them (i seem to remember they are a bit thinner) i managed to get it all fixed. Many, Many door opens later it still feels good. Probably the only bit on the car that actually works. best of luck, J.

Mongol Rally
yeah, most of the ones these guys organise seem to quite interesting. zairs: A mini was one of the first to cross my mind too because of all the things you mentioned. However it did cross my mind that with such small wheels it may not cope too well on the rought sections of the rally. still worth thinking about tough. many thanks all!

Mongol Rally
haha, woop woop daewoo matiz! thanks mate! the car only has to be have been manufactured within 10 years if you wish to donate it to charity at the end via the rally organisers and thus it stays in Mongolia. So it can be older but if it is i would have to either donate it privatly, take it home or sell it on the cheap on arrival.

Mongol Rally
I don't know how many of you have heard of this unique and slightly eccentric rally for charity but from the things i have heard it sounds like it could be quite an experience. More or less the only rule is that the car enguine must be of no more than 1litre. (this can be bent slightly, but is frowned upon, because of new rules for 09 due to mongolian enforced restrictions on age of donated cars.) here is a link to the site for those of you who are interested. http://mongolrally.theadventurists.com/index.php?page=thevehicles The point of this post being that over the next couple of years i plan to enter with 2 of my friends. This is a bit tricky as you have to carry evrything your self and with 3 in a car which will probably be the size of a shoe (because of enguine size) i am a little stumped on car choise. I have looked at a Susiki SJ as a candidate but they are hard to get your hands on, especialy in a condition to do 10,000miles. So any reccomendations would be hugely appreciated!!! many thanks, Jamie.

s2000
Thanks peeps. With the seemingly worthless hunk of junk i liked to think of as my pride and joy now with a broken autobox i don't think that even if i sell evrything i own ill be able to scrape together enough fo one of these. Thoughts for the future though. Many thanks again. Jamie

dogkrap. yes it has dark grey leather and alcantara. BUT the driver's side bolster is well worn. Slick pete. thanks, a bit somber yes, but hit the nail on the head. ...still a bit puzzled as to what to do. It also seems a crime to scrap the shell of a uk car with so little rust. Looks like ill just have to bite the bullit and take the hit.

BMW - ouchness!
nevermind the deer, where the feck did the enguine go?

s2000
Just wondering if anybody on here owns a honda s2000 or has owned one? i'm thinking about a 2003 s2000 as a replacement for the z and would like to know how it stacks up against a lwb tt. Don't get me wrong, i love my zed and will hate to not have one around but i just can't do it justice at the moment on the upkeep front with my meager income. I know having a fast car seems retarded when you are poor but, at the moment anyway, i am willing to sacrifice almost evrything else to be able to have a laugh im my car, and with the z its just stress at what will need fixed next. cheers, J.

thanks for your replies. #1 & 2. it would be an idea, but unfortunatly there isn't much prospect of me earning anything much beyond survival for the forseeable future so even if i didn't need the cash it would probably have become rust by the time i got a half decent job. # 3. have thought about it as the most likly to get a return on but tbh wouldn't know where to start and i don't know that the likleyhood of selling something major then not be able to shift the rest and end up with an even more usless car. pointers on breaking or any further solutions would be muchly appreciated, also would a specialist breaker of 300s be likley to offer me anything that wasn't amusing? many thanks again, Jamie.

Right. The shit has hit the fan in terms of life (don't worry i'm not looking for sympathy as everyone seems to be having a hard time of it at the moment) I have no cash and the autobox has given up the ghost (out of nowhere wont shift above 2nd). Its a UK spec tt with all the trimmings. Almost NO RUST, nice new expencive exhaust system, new filters, s/plugs, coilpack plugs, etc, etc. The enguin seems fine (broken dett sensor bypassed) with 110 000 on the clock. It dose have a dented in passanger door and rear n/s wing is rippled from where i wedged my self between two saplings on a wet day but all cosmetic as there was no impact damage to anything (nice smooth slide between trees). Now obviously this pobably worth next to nothing due to my over exuberance on a wet road even if i did fix the box. So basically by what means could i claw back as much money as possible? many thanks, Jamie.

Garage in scotland
just from my experience of MANY garages who claimed to know 300s the only one i could get to do the job properly was the nissan dealer around straighton in edinburgh. The others were doing some seriously stupid things. one of the so called 'z experts' decided to check my engine oil via the autobox dipstick. didn't realy get much better than that with the actual problems. nevermind will have to check the above post's garage at some point. good luck with the hunt!

Skirts again

-
Skirts again
Off the back of my recent topic, dose anybody know of somewhere i can get something similar to a set of Kaminari skirts / door fillers that won't cost me near to £600? taa, J.
