To be held 28th June to 1st july. a great event for Petrolheads as I am sure you all know! I go with a friend every year & camp on the campsite just a 3 minute walk from the entry near the start line- fo rthose of you who know the layout the campsite is opposite the Goodwood House Hotel & Golf Course. Facilities 1st class as expected at Goodwood! loads of showers/ toilets hot water washing up facilities, kepy very clean- free parking- security 24/7 & a great atmosphere! Our pitch has electric hook-up , is 9 x 7 metres. Cost is £200 for 4 days- shorter bookings not available. We are looking for 2 others to share the pitch (in their own tent) at a cost of £100. There will be room for a 4/6 man tent in addition to our trailer tent & you would spend the time as you wish. The main benefit in camping is that there are no traffic/parking issues each morning & night- just a leisurely stroll to the event & a chance to celebrity spot at the Hotel if that's your glass of Pimms! when selling a car which has a private plate that I want to keep, what is the procedure? Do I have to remove plate before selling a get new V5c or can I sell car & transfer plate to either another car or to retention at point of sale?

Thanks for your comments, guys. No-one has actually suggested an answer to the question- at what point in time was there a balance between rust prevention/ ability to be worked on at a reasonable cost (i.e not too sophisticated).

Been wondering! In the 60's & 70's & perhaps the 80's cars rusted away for fun. Manufacturers then started proper rustproofing treatment & better build quality to prolong life so cars would last say 20/30 years. Then sophisticated electronics were introduced to make cars 'better'/ 'safer' but this has lead to cars being perfectly serviceable from a rust perspective but being scrapped because it's not economical sense to spend several hundred pounds on replacing parts on a car worth, say, £1500. Two questions 1. Is it still worth manufacturers rustproofing cars to the extent they do? 2. When were the 'best' cars built? i.e. When rust wasn't a problem but the car was sufficiently unsophisticated to mean it could be repaired at reasonable cost? What car fits the bill?

Is there anyone on here who works at DVLA or knows someone there so we can get a definitive answer?

You will all be aware of the Free Prize Draw for 3 Seat Ibizas promoted by DVLA if you renew your tax disc on-line. Does anyone ever win? According to DVLA ' Details of prize winners will be provided at http://www.dvlaprizedraw.org ' Not on there! - just general info & no mention of any previous winners. There are also various posts on 'Tipsity' doubting the integrity of the competition. Can anyone add any information? Either to confirm it is dubious at best or provide info on where winner details can be found. Surely the DVLA as a government agency wouldn't run a 'Blue Peter' competition & expect to get away with it?

Think it used to 'live' off Hulton Lane in Bolton & last time I saw it it had a smashed rear quarter (driver's side I think).

Won't be takin my Zed as it doesn't have a tow-bar & I will be taking either a caravan or trailer tent!! No-one else interested in free entry to Goodwood?! The work for Richard Burns Foundation last year was as simple as working for 2 hours at the motorbike helmet park, taking helmets & leathers & handing out a receipt. There are plenty volunteers which is why you only work the 2 hours per day. Other 'jobs' include holding collection buckets for cash & you can often still watch the action while working!!

The 'pitch' costs £180 for the weekend & includes electricity (you can only book full weekend, not just odd days). The pitch is approx 9 metres by 7 metres so there is ample room for a 4/6man tent for anyone interested. The toilets/showers etc are very good & kept clean by staff brought in for the event. It is a very well-run event with excellent facilities. You would provide your own tent/caravan/trailer tent & equipment & spend the day as you please! Now for the best bit! FREE ENTRY. The cost of entry for the 3 days is £107 but we get in free (totally legally) in return for a maximum of 2 hours work each day. We did this last year as volunteers for the Richard Burns Foundation. Hope you're successful. If either of your cars is an import you'll struggle! I have import 300 & uk 200 & can't find an insurer to put both on one policy with limited mileage on both. If you can help me I'd be grateful.

How did you know that is the plate I'm looking for!

Is there an easy way to search ebay for private plates/cherished numbers? On dealer sites you can search names, numbers etc to find a choice of plate but not on ebay, just distance, time ending etc. Is there a search facility to save trawling through 000's of plates?

Aren't they likely to get pxxs all at auction?? So we get pxxs all less some!!
