respray
just finished sanding it down today. must go over each panel now and fill the little stone chips and then she will be ready for a coat of primer. hard work but will be worth it in the end. lots of hidden corrosion to repair as well but its only small patches so should be ok.

the colour im going for is very simular to candy apple red. I saw my colour on a honda bikes petrol tank and taught that would look great on my z so had to have it. the engine bay wont be done but im not gonna sell her so i dont care if anyone says anything bout it but cant be bothered removing it. Might do it bit by bit wiv engine in place if thats possible.

respray
yea well its well worth doing it as we need to keep these things alive as long as possible. And since i lost my job the Z is my only worth while possession ( well apart from wife and kids). so if i left it till next year i would have to replace panels rather than just paint them. iv changed front drivers wing as iv got alot of panels and parts from my scraped Z. My only saving grace is the insurance company are paying for it so thats a big break.

im doing everything bar the actual sprayin. leaving that to a pro. on the passenger door iv counted ten yes ten coats of paint already on it.

paint bubbles..
its just a matter of sanding or gringing them back down to bare metal and treating and spraying the affected area. i had to do it alot on wheel arches. make sure if ur doing the arches to check inside them and clean and treat them also as they will only come through again in time. there are lots of good primers and treatments out there to prevent this problem.

Tech Q & A issues
I agree with your concerns jeff but most of the problem us as owners have are solved by eliminating what members think what might be the problem. As with many of the problems iv had it was a matter of checking numerous things before u get to the actual fault. I never look anywhere else but this site as the likes of yourself and several others are always on hand to lend there experience and i think i speak for everyone on here in thanking you all for the help and advice you give.

insurance problem
yea it is weird as i paid 7000 and have put another 1500 into it. but all they will give for it is about 3000 which is less than a paint job.
-
insurance problem
iv only an excess of 150. an estimate to fix the original bodywork is 700 which iv told them i will cover. but they, i think are tryin to say the car is not worth doing up. the car itself is a cracker. no problems and drives perfect. i can post pics of original paintwork if anyone would like to see.

insurance problem
my car got keyed and because my bonuses are protected i claimed for a respray cause of the damege. The assesor came out and viewed the damage and says cause the car is in such bad contidion that i should cover alot of the cost of respraying it. I accept the body work wasnt perfect due to some minor peelin of laquer and a not so good paint job done on it a few years ago before i got it. But the car is 18 years old and is never gonna be perfect. what am i to do as i cant afford a ful respray.:headvswal

sensor or not
try cleanin ur trottle body as these gave me same prob once a while back. how did u adjust the tps. iv been told to set it to 4 to 4.5. i have a conzult but if u dont there r other ways of doing this. other will let u know how. also check connection to the tps, clean wiv electric contact cleaner as with other connections on her as they tend to get fairly bad over time.

timing
didnt line up on mine either. but once the marks r ok u should be 2. on the above link it also shows number of teeth between marks. give em a count to make sure.
