The 300zx experience
I love mine! Had it since 2002, it's lived outside all it's life, in Cornwall as well close to the salty sea air, it's also UK SPEC and it's always been my daily drive!!! I think if you can do most of the work on it yourself or with a mate, keep it running good by yearly oil changes and giving the underneath a good waxoyl at least every couple of years then no reason why they shouldn't go on!!! Golden rule, maintainance first then do all the tarting up bit's and modifications when there running right! Not like I've seen on this forum over the years, so many people do the tarting up, big brake kit's, suspension, big body kits then the thing still isn't running right and never makes it on the road!!! This forum is invaluble source of information and we can all learn a lot for it! How too's etc! Long live 300zx.co.uk!!!

10 Years of owning a Z today!!
Well 10 years ago today I bought my 300ZX Twin Turbo!! Had many a happy time with it, lots of highs and lots of lows but above all its been my daily drive for the past 10 years!! Yes I have spent lots of money on it but not as most as some, the main thing for me was and still is to keep it maintained and running well. Love it and it will love you back!! Done lots of tasty performance mods along the way without compromising reliability... I owe a lot to this forum with members past and present and I thank each and everyone of you for all your more than helpful advice. I've learnt a lot about these cars within 10years of ownership. The Z is one of the greatest drives ever, and can still put the majority of modern sports cars to shame, and I plan to keep mine as long as I can!!

Zombies are attacking Florida.....Yeah, really.
Could make a good film, Zombies in Zeds!!

I'm wet :)
I used RTV Silicon sealant on mine to build up the worn edgeds... Let it dry in the sun for a few hours, replace the targa roofs and do up the windows and hey presto no more leaks!! Cause silicon remains soft just but not sticky just after a few hours it virtually forms the perfect mold... You could also try smearing grease on the tops and sides of your windows, then shutting the doors after applying the silicone so it sits in place...

warm engine - hood vents
Mine lives outside all it's life through summer winter etc... Never had a problem with water getting over the electrics.. Both my vents are above the turbo's, on the drivers side you can see one of the fuse boxes, cruise control system which if it rain's water goes stright over the lot!! The fuse box cover does the trick tho and water just runs off it...

warm engine - hood vents
I've had vents in my Z for over 7 Years now and that was running a stock rad up until last year when the rad finally developed a leak due to the age of the thing... Got a nice Koyo one now, just cause it came at the right price but a stock rad with vents kept the engine temps well down... Could do a 30 Min run down to DannZX place, running at full boost 1.2 bar in places and on arrival at his, lift the bonnet and the plenum would feel cold... Plenty of air being circulated around and vents are a great idea when stuck in traffic to release the heat!!

Wipers Aircon and clock DEAD!!
It controls the electric fan that sit's in front of the aircon rad... Not really needed as if this ever comes on then your Water temp has exceeded it's maximum safe temp and your engine is about to go into meltdown!!! You can get plenty of the 25230 blue relay's from other Nissan cars in scrap yards... Common relay that loads of Nissan car's use.

Door Stuck!
Cornish fairy's are worse mate! Pure Evil!!

Door Stuck!
Yeah was worried for a bit there mate, was thinking of getting out the electric cutter and cutting a section out of the door card for a minute! Guess the Z heard my idea and didn't approve... Just glad it free'd itself in the end so I could open it and lube everything up inside the door card (ooh err!)! Yeah Gary, Zed's can do wierd things over night!

Door Stuck!
Just a quick update on this, the Bugger has fixed itself!! When coming back from work the other day noticed the internal lock switch was sticking out a bit more than what it was. Pulled the release leaver and hey presto it opened!! Must have been all that rain we had freeing up something... First dry day yesterday so took the door card off to have a look and all the leavers and rods for the release handle and lock we're all in place and none of the plastic clips were broken. Took the opertunity to lube everything up, all the moving parts.. So far so good, it opens, closes, locks and unlocks ok... Guessing it was something to do with the lock in the end sticking... I do love the way these car's fix themselves sometimes!! It must of heard me swearing at it!!!

Door Stuck!
Mine is UK spec so the seat belts are on the pillar and not the door unfortunately... :-(
-
Door Stuck!
Thanks dude, yeah can see the rods just about from taking the plastic interior door lock surround off.. Im hoping with the window down I might be able to see something! Just hope it doesn't rain today!!
-
Door Stuck!
No, haven't tried that yet dude as it started raining just after a took the video.. Good idea tho, will give it a go tomorrow! My gut instinct tells me it's a lock fault rather than the hinge.. When the door was opening sometimes the central locking would lock the drivers but sometimes not the passenger door.. It would still open from the outside so when ever exiting the car I would always lock the passenger door from the inside before I get out then lock the drivers door with the central locking... Now it's lock shut! I guess some bang bang tactics with a bit of B/\stard, B/\astard, B/\astard! are needed!!
-
Door Stuck!
INTERIOR OPENING... OUTSIDE OPENING.. The lock is undone from the inside, or it is as far as i know!!
-
Door Stuck!
Ok if anyone knows a way and would like to email me personally it's jonlowndes101@hotmail.com Here is the video of me trying to open from the inside... Notice when I pan across to the door end you can here clicking from that area. It's not me on the lock or handel at the other end..
-
Door Stuck!
How do you "Jimmy the lock" dude??! Sorry for being so thick but flicked it back and forth lots of times! You can hear the door lock doing something at the other end and even when you pull the interior handle you can hear it clicking at the far end but it won't open! Had the inner handle cover off and the door lock switch and handle both have there rods connected which still move... I remember a few weeks ago when the passenger door was last open it wouldn't shut, it would latch onto the catch and just boing off!!! Remember moving the interior lock back and forth a few times and think when it was in locked position the door then caught and shut.. Just won't bloody open now! Will post up some video's of the clicking later...

Door Stuck!
Hello peeps! Well after fitting some new shocks yesterday as always there is another new problem to sort!! My passenger Door will not open!! Tried the handle on the outside and the inside and it just will not open... The internal lock looks like it's moving when I lock and unlock it with the central locking but it just will not open using any handle... The million doller question is how can I take the interior door trim off while the door is shut!!! Im guessing a rod or something has come loose from the door release mechanism . Really feel up creek without a paddle on this on, the passenger window still operates but don't wanna lower it too much incase something is in the way.. Really hope one of you nice people can help me! Cheers!!

Happy 30th Birthday ZX Spectrum
ThaT was the commodore 64 not the spectrum!! Early games had yellow and blue lines around the boarder and later ones had a countdown timer!! Loved my first ZX though! Started off with the 48K and got a 128K+2 later on which had the same sound chip as the Atari ST!!

Spoiler anyone?

Very sad day for Zedworld and family
Very sad and upsetting new Jeff, always very sad when a member of the family dies... At least you know she is at piece now and will never be forgotton. I still miss my dog who fell asleep 5 years ago now. Always remember taking her out in the Z down to the beach!! She loved that! Just think of all the good and happy memories you and Libby had... RIP Libby
