  1. Nice one Gary your a star! Ok back to the thread, I can only feel your frustration on your night out be it a quick meal or a slap up do there is no respect these days and yes I know I am sounding like an old f*rt but why the hell do kids get better respect then adults baffles me. I see every day the descending age of childhood, when I was 12 or 13yrs old I could not wait to be "grown up" leave school and be old enough to drive a car.... but no I had to wait, no short cuts. Not now, I think its so sad these kids are part of the this "shrinking childhood syndrome" where they have learnt to demand access to all manner of things that was once the preserve of "grown ups" Prom nights is just one of these occassions, 14, 15, 16 year olds have end of term do`s that clearly are an Americanism and have stretched limo`s Hummers, hundreds of £ss spent on dresses and suits, it really is the thin end of the wedge with most 17 year old having new or nearly new cars I have grave worries for their future, after all what have they to aspire to? nothing... they have had it all before they are 20yrs old, it is no wonder they don`t respect grown ups because the grown ups have become the children been told what the score is by their own minors.... and now teachers..... no don`t get me started on teachers!! 3. No worries was going to vent a bit as one of my favorite moan subjects is youngsters lack of respect, will wait for a mod to reinstate it. Jeff

  5. Ist picture is the front of the fusebox which is the bit you can see when looking in the drivers footwell area, the second picture is the rear of the fusebox that can only be seen after removal. Removing the fuse box is trickly, you need a good strong torch, 10mm socket and phillips screwdriver, disconnect the battery and then the sill and trim around the fusebox requires removal first, the accelerator pedal requires removal next ( 2 x 10mm bolts) the fusebox has many plugs and these need all unplugging and then the 10mm bolts will be clear to see holding the fusebox in, there should be 3 in total but most times there will only be two. When you pull the fuse box clear there is still some plugs to disconnect on the rear, once these are done it will come clear for you to see the relay to check/ change it. Good luck Jeff TT
  6. Everything on the heater pod is run from the accessory circuit ( position one on the key) this is activated from a relay on the back of the footwell fusebox, this can fail and cause the exact problem your having. The cig lighter is also on the same supply so you need to get the accessory circuit working again, fuse box out job which is a pain on the ass but no other way around it. Jeff TT
  7. Just to clear your small fopaux up matey there is only one dedicated full time zed specialist garage in the UK and that is ZEDWORLD, Jimmer is a dedicated engine rebuilder and has built his top reputation on that and so specialises in engine rebuilds which takes his free time up outside of his full time job. Luke ( Zcentre) is a HOME based reseller of parts and some kits he has made for all manor of Japanese marque`s, he has an associate .... Mick at mobile fleet car ( 4 x 4 specialist and commercial vehicles ) that he promotes as his mechanic, simply put there is no other full time Zed only based garage/workshop. The steering pipe is tricky but not imposible for any garage to do, but running any garage is a balancing act of profit and loss like any business and I guess the garage you went to was reluctant to start something they thought they could not finish, owning a zed like many other less common cars comes with compromise and repairs and servicing can be one of them, hence why we exist. Jeff
  8. For your info fitting charge for the pas pipe is £65 +vat including new fluid. Jeff TT
  9. What you need to know is without removing the box and torque convertor removing all of the old fluid is impossible, so given that there is a level of compromise you need to do your best to get as much out as possible. So if you have a drain plug ( not all boxes do) then drain what you can from that first and then remove the sump, be aware another litre and half will be lurking in the sump to get you so be prepared. Undo the cooler pipes at the point where the metal pipes change to rubber by the radiator, let these drain also, if you have an air line you can blow these out....a messy job though. With the sump off, the strainer will be seen and needs a few 10mm bolts removing for it to come completly out, as said its a strainer rather than a filter so will have a fine brass mesh that can be cleaned out. Let the box drain for a while with the sump off and once the cooler pipes are off and tightened up refit the sump with a new gasket ( advised) If you cannot get one from your local Nissan tell them there are only two types twin turbo or non turbo or find a local autobox specialits who should be able to supply one. Refill box with at least 4 litres of fluid, check for leaks and then run through all gears with your foot on the brake pedal, check the level again and add as required, following a road test check for leaks again and the level again. Hope that helps Jeff TT
  10. From monsoon to fully dry in 24 hours, a lot of mopping out and cleaning up, a full bin of rubbish and a completely cleaned back office, even outside is showing llittle or no sign of yesterdays deluge...... back we are and firing on all cylinders. Jeff TT
  11. Landlord is ok generally but to be fair I think the water was coming in what ever.... and the Beemer is my other baby Absolutely spot on, the roof structure is completely sound and have bever had this problem before the valley gutter is a concrete one around 6 to 8 inches high and the roof section overlap the valley as it should but the water just could not exit the valley quick enough. Thanks for the tunes offer very kind of you and yes hard to work in a quiet workshop thats for sure, as far as extra works rate....now there is an idea??? (lol) and an indoor pool would seem attractive but I guess the floaters may be a put off!! Cheers Jeff
  12. Thanks for the kind words, was a real manic 30 minutes followed by hours of cleaning up we all got wet through to boot. The office has been cleared and spent tonight wet vacuuming all of the water out of the carpet, moved all of the furniture back in and just got some new ceiling panels to slide in tomorrow, the workshop stereo is a gonna which is sad ...... the sun came out in the afteroon and so opened up both the roller shutters and with the slight breeze actually dried a lot of the workshop out. So business as usual tomorrow Jeff
  13. A couple of pics from 2 cameras at home at the same tiime, the pictures are taken by my phone of the monitor screen but the fuzziness is how it actually looked with the rain hitting the floor so hard it was making a spray that was almost fog like!! Weather report for the today was sunny spells with showers...,yes right! Jeff TT
  14. So with very little notice the rain shower over head changed to a full on tropical storm with lashing rain, hail hig winds and the kind of rain that is more akin to a monsoon ! 15 minutes of it resulted in a flooded worksop (came under the shutter door as the drains were overwhelmed) the inner back offce ceiling came down with the weght of water that came through the main roof, the valley gutter at the back of the worksop could not cope and gallons of water formed a near water fall down the back wall and all of the tool chests, compressor and the main electrical distibution board, whilst running around doing our best to arrest the onslaught of flood water in the workshop and moving cars, tools and scores of boxes to dryer area`s the power went off!! the ceiling in the back office dropped and completely took out two computors and 2 shelves of folders with vat and tax paper work in!! running in to the office to try and save the pc`s and tables and chairs from the continual torent of rain flowing over the valley gutter, all with thunder and lighting, very high winds and the rain all adding to the drama. Finally the rain subsided and the wind, hailstone etc and the flaming sun came out then like all was good again...................yes right nearly 4 hours of cleaning up! so we could complete the days works and then another two hours cleaing in the office. A few pics taken, really dont show the chaos of the moment but you will get an idea, and the next door MOT garage got it bad in their workshop as the sunken 4 poster bed filled up as did the brake tester. Ah well at leat it was an excuse to clean the floor! Jeff TT

  16. Anyone have the Nissan part number for manual gear knob with the red stiching? or have one for sale Cheers in advance Jeff TT
  17. Yes 2nd one without receipt was the correct one, just hold on to the other one as I said. the other parts we do not have ...sorrry. Jeff
  18. Its the high pressure pipe one that runs from the rear of the pump down to the front steering rack. To access the fixing for the pump connection remove the two turbo pipes on the left above the pump and also remove the radiator top hose ( when cold) if you look at the top of the pump behind the pulley you will see the banjo bolt that secures the pipe union. You need to get your spanner in there and release it , it will be very tight but will go eventually, once undone be careful to not loose the copper washers either side of the banjo union. From below pull the pipe down but wiggle it as well as the steel section at the back will keep getting hooked up but again will comne out eventually. Feed the replacement pipe from below again it will be a sod but eventually will come up over the top of the pump. So now for the tricky bit, you have to line up the banjo union and get the bolt through but with two copper washers either side of the union, no real hints other than try not to give up, we do these regular in the workshop and they either go easy or thay are a right pain, no way of knowing until you do it. Once tightened up top and bottom, refit all pipes and top the water up from what was lost taking the top hose off and top up the steering fluid ( Dexron ll) Start the engine and slowly turn the wheel from left to right full lock, topping as required and checking for leaks, NOTE do not be too hasty adding fluid as there is a change air will become trapped and suddenly your dealing with a dexron volcano....very messy. Good luck Jeff TT
  19. JeezD what a nightmare!! your shocking story is bizzarely similar to many of the so called "zed specialists" that sprang up over the past 10 years most on the back of genuine garages but with no money, little actual business skills and definately no morals but buckets full of spin, these characters are little more than the dodgy geezers of times gone by with a coat full of bent watches.....I hope this somehow gets resolved....fingers crossed. Jeff TT
  20. Cannot say what the sucking sound is without hearing it first hand but if the noise is present with the "when the clutch is dropped in neutral" do you mean the gearbox in neutral or with the clutch pedal depressed? if its when the gearbox is in neutral but the clutch pedal up its a gearbox bearing as the input shaft is still turning in the box, however if the noise is when the pedal is depressed with the thrust bearing under load then it is the release bearing. Jeff TT
