  1. That said Jeff, do you feel confidant that these issues are easily sorted via a comprehensive conzult. or will it be a matter of trial and error? No reason at all for it not be sorted with a ConZult and set up session, again the ignition figure your seeing when the throttle switch closes is correct! the stalling is caused by either a slow reaction from an incorrect air valve which may be not working due to a bad connection or air leak confusing the afm. Like I said, too easy to get over technical before setting up the basics, will have you going around in circles, you would be surprised how many tech help calls we get on non starters that have run out of fuel!! even had one come via the AA as the patrol guy would not get inlvolved....run out of petrol, he thought it would be a nightmare to get going again, whilst I signed his paper work Jamie popped some fuel in and had it running before he left?? ConZult dagnostic is only £35+ vat should have it traced and maybe even sorted for that. Jeff
  2. Fully agree with Ossian, all variety of zeds use the same fitting ( the right hand one) Jeff TT

  5. Stoppppppppppppppp Here is the fix http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?128022-power-window-repair-(inside-out-feature)&highlight=window+module+repair Jeff TT
  6. Ok the easiet way to think of it is the solenoid valve is shut when off and bear in mind it is a 3 port valve, this means when the solenoid is off such as when the engine is cold or the reves are low the actuator is receiving the max flow of boost trying to open the wastegate, when the revs rise and the engine is hot the solenoids power up. Now the valve is open and they have become bleed valves, by this I mean they full amount of boost is not going to the actuator so this now slows the opening of the wastegate and hence the boost rises above 5 psi, once the boost reaches around 9.5 psi the boost is now at the same rate of the actuator spring and so starts to open the wastegate to control the max boost pressure. Basically your boost solenoids are working as they should, hate to say it but your getting confused now as the issue your having is frustrating you, you need outside help....Coventry to Coleshill is only less than 18 miles!! 7. Manta has it correct. Jeff TT
  8. Gives you the option of a soff or hard ride, to retrofit t a UK car would cost less as it as the rear adjustable shocks and ecu, so you only need to add two front shocks woudl expect around £300 from Nissan, and a small amount of wiring. Import zed would be more expensive, needing 4 shocks, ecu and a more extensive wiring installation, woudl think £500+ for the shocks £25 for the ecu 2nd hand, not very cost effective really. Jeff TT
  9. Yes there is a switch option in the main fited to the US spec cars which also had the front shock absorbers electrically adjusted, we had a breaker in early this year with this had been retro fitted on a UK spec zed ( see pic below ) although the breaker is now gone we retained the switch and this could easily be fitted to a UK zed to operate the rear shocks that are already fitted, the fronts could also be fitted. Jap spec zeds do not have the facility but again couild be retro fitted although a little more wiring involved and the ecu control for the shock would need fitting from a UK car. Jeff TT
  10. Wow thats a very random cause and effect scenario, dont be offended but you way off with that info, what you need top look at is the basics first, ignition timing, air leaks, throttle balance, spark plug condition, so, so easy to go too technical and over spend on a basic set up issue. My advise would be to get it on a ConZult diagnostic to check all of the standard settings, a boost / air leak check and then a more comprehensive tune/ set up can be done and be assured somewhere along that route the problem will be sorted. Jeff TT
  11. How many miles you done since changing the pcv valves? can take up to 500 miles to get rid of the previous excess oil in the plenum depending on what kind of driving (town or motorway). I would not worry too much yet, if the problem had a major cause it would not be able to fix itself in the the way it has after a drive, do a few miles before doing anything other than checking the rest of the breather system. Jeff TT
  12. Steams has given you the best option, delete if failed, out of interest what makes you think it has failed? Jeff TT
  13. What a difference a week makes, the sun came with blue skys and a super weekend, not one to let the grass grow , we cracked open the party mood, got the bouncey castle up, a couple of gazebos to house the drink and music and invited 40 odd family and friends, what a day, we had an old fashioned street party theme with sandwiches with the crusts cut off, cream teas, jelly and ice cream, strawberries, and the odd drink or too!! Was a hot relaxed day and a barmy evening with the final guests leaving as it got dark having watched the sunset over the fields it was magical, reminded me of days when I was a kid when simple things just seemed more fun!! then we had to tidy up!!!!!!!!! 17. Who me?? Well on this one there are real agents of death for our cars the first is the greedy insurance companies who take your pants down when you take up a policy and again when you make a no fault claim, the 2nd agent of hell is false claims of whiplash and fake accidents mainly arranged by Eastern Europen gangs that have unilaterally pushed everyones insurance up and your local friendly bodyshop who get the max from a repair with the minimum of quality checking by the insurance co after! So here is the insurance co image Here is the fake claimers diagram Here is the bodyshops
  18. No not in the slightest, something I have been thinking about for a few weeks and decided to post about it. So seems general replies its a good plan so will be writing this up over the next few days and will post it up then. Jeff TT
  19. Ok this may be a bit controversial but here goes, tech questions and answers have always and will be a main feature of this and forums alike, it why when present and new members are stuck actually come here to get help. But in the 10 years I have been here I have witnessed many coming and goings of the main players (posters) who answer these, myself included. However over the past decade the accuracy of many of the answers has lessened which is bizzare in as far as they should have become more accurate? Looking daily at the numerous similar enquiries from members it has become clear too many answers are coming from members who read an incorrect answer before and then repeat the same from with a firm belief they are doing a good thing. Of late I have reduced the amount of tech answers and threads I answer in order to judge more clearly what is going on, its basic Chinese Whispers thing with inacuarcy building on inacuracy. The most noticable thing is mainy of the main players are part of this and are long term members, mods, reps etc. no way am I having a go but trying to sort this out. In order to do this I am going to create a new post that will be a "myth buster" of all things 300zx, the kind of things I mean is like the series 1 ptu been a fail item....most 20 year old zeds still have one! how is that a fail item? I know they can and do fail so do series ll ones, we know we have seen it about as much as series 1 types, also ptu failure seems to be the stock answer for any engine malady and simpy is not born out by our 10 +years working in zeds, the real cause is bad connections causing excess current draw and overheating the unit inside. It has even crept into our workshop now via telephone tech when help owners trace a problem, when we explain our possible solutions we sometimes get " are your sure, I read on the forum...." Argh!!!!!! you rang me!! this can be seen even more so where the same tech question is been asked by the same owner on the different 300zx forums and the same wrong answers have resulted....becomes pointless eventually. Ok so you get the idea, while I create this myth buster list please feel feel free to add any areas of tech doubt you have and will add it in, oh just thought of another one, "import and uk zeds have different batteries" .. WRONG! both the same, this is one that surfaces most Winter times and even I have stopped correcting folk now! So off to work off to work I go and look out for the thread and get your suggestions in too. Regards Jeff TT
  20. Bang on ! the problem with MOT manual is items are always subject to interperation, consider how many zeds / other cars are running around with these removed or cut back with bigger discs on, if a serious problem it would have come up years ago. Jeff TT
  21. It will be fine without it for the MOT, in fact when fitting larger discs the shield has to be cut off or at least cut back, never heard of it causing any issue with MOT. Jeff TT
  22. Yes no problem can confirm it was sent by Royal Mails finest next day ( Saturday delivery) Jeff TT
