  5. Up to about £30k........;) Richard:smw:
  6. I'd just drive the car as much as possible before the new owner collects it mate - it's not worth the hassle for £60;) Richard:cool:
  7. An Obituary printed in the London Times........ Interesting and sadly rather true Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: Knowing when to come in out of the rain; Why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't always fair; and maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault. Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason. He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights I Want It Now Someone Else Is To Blame I'm A Victim Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing. Richard:(
  8. You'd have to shove something in her mouth just to keep her quiet though:D
  9. I can recommend Goodyear GSD3 or Dunlop SP 9000 Sport; I've had both on my Z and it's never slid or slipped in the wet with them on:) I have the Dunlops on now and they have lasted better than the Goodyears too. DON'T buy Avons though as they are crap - I had brand new ones on my Z when I bought it and the car slid everywhere. They were the first thing to go! Richard
  10. Exactly - it's what the ZX does best;) And who says they're unreliable.......:p Richard
  11. I agree....... ......go for the S4 mate! Richard:cool:
  12. We've just returned from a short holiday to Cornwall, racking up just over 1000 (quite fast;)) miles in the Z over the last few days and (as usual) it never missed a beat....... It is bloody filthy now, though so I guess that's my job for tomorrow:p Richard:D
  13. Not sure about the economy of a 300zx but in the case of "ordinary" cars with smaller engines; the auto version is slower, less efficient and has higher emissions than the equivalent manual. Even with new cars........ With more powerful cars like the 300zx, the difference is not so great. And with bigger engined Mercs (eg my SLK350) the auto versions are actually faster, more efficient and have lower emissions than the manuals!! Richard;)
  14. Moved to the correct section....... .....and any decent premium brand auto transmission fluid will be fine mate! Richard:)
  15. I agree on both counts - the only similarity between a Z32 and the Firebird is the T-top. I had a black Mk3 Supra before my Z32 and that did resemble KITT. Especially as it was the J-spec GT Targa version with a digital dash.......;) So true............ ......half a boat....brilliant:bow: Richard:cool:
  16. Seriously, though. What happened mate?
  17. Agreed!! Stick with the stock NGK items mate! Richard:)
  18. Just a little advice to those (like me) who may have overlooked their's for a while....... ..........Especially as my ZX sits in my garage most of the time nowadays. When it was my daily drive I checked them weekly and, boringly, they never changed. However as I'm taking it to Cornwall tomorrow, I decided to do all the usual checks this morning. I found the tyres were around 5-10 psi below what they should have been so obviously I pumped them up. And what a transformation!! the car grips, corners and brakes soooooo much better than before:bow: Amazing what a change something so simple can make! Richard:cool:
  19. My personal opinion; for what it's worth........ ..........don't waste your money! Just stick with a Cat 1 system and hope for the best. If someone really wants to steal a 300zx then they will do it what ever security you have. At the end of the day, the likelihood of a 15 year old+ car (that appears to be worth peanuts; judging by those for sale) being stolen is not high enough to worry about;) If you have classic insurance, get it at an agreed value - if the car does get pinched you'll probably receive more than you would if you sold it!! Sorry to sound negative - I know how much we love our Zs (me included) - but on a scale of economies why spend ££££££s to protect a car worth............:nelson: Richard:(
  20. £2k sounds very expensive, mate. I had mine rebuilt by a highly skilled and reputable company that has been in the auto 'box business for many years. The whole lot, including a recon torque convertor, came to little over £1200. Richard
  21. Sounds like you may have "lost" 1st gear. My auto box lost 2nd and 4th (overdrive) and it needed a full rebuild. I hope yours is not so serious - mine cost £1200-ish to fix. Not necessarily. Overdrive is just 4th gear mate - these 'boxes are 3 speed plus an overdrive 4th; the car automatically shifts in sequence to the highest gear for cruising according to the conditions. The button on the gear shifter is to turn it off, thus only enabling the car to change between 1st and 3rd (much the same way as selecting 1 or 2 restricts the car from selecting a gear above the number chosen). Richard:)
  22. Looking good Si:bow: Richard:)
  23. I have to agree - your pearl yellow was indeed a fine example:bow: Richard:cool:
  24. No probs mate! Perhaps back off a bit on the interest front - after all you do have a ZX and what with money being tight around Christmas etc etc.... Good luck....... Richard:cool:
  25. Compliments of the season to you as well mate....... .......you spawny get:tongue: Richard:cool:
