  1. My thoughts exactly. Stock look (like the Mongoose) followed by twin oval (like the other Mongoose:tongue:). I don't like the single exit - the car does not look so "balanced" with them unless the bumper has been modified to suit (like Grantpa's car). Richard:cool:
  2. Congratulations mate! Richard:duffer:
  3. Anyone seen this yet - my initial thoughts are that I like it. Better than an R8 for instance..........:D http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/233642/jaguars_reborn_xj220.html Richard:)
  4. If an item is not on the "tick sheet" then it should not have been part of the test. An MOT test covers specific items; there is no section for "any other items fitted to the car that are not mentioned above!" As front fogs are not a legal requirement, your car should not have failed on one or both of them not working. In any case, why didn't the tester simply replace the bulb after the test and pass it, if that's all it failed on? Richard:cool:
  5. Hmmmm, I thought that too. I'm sure I've seen that car for sale before - maybe a year or so ago. Anyone else remember it? Richard
  6. Seconded:tongue: I respect the Skyline for what it is and what it can do but that's it. It looks nothing special and I've no desire to own one. Richard:)
  7. I also use the little garage in the village; although mainly for Julia's Rav. I have taken the Z there for MOTs and a couple of simple replacements. Otherwise I usually take my ZX back to the little garage in the village I used to live; they have looked after it since I've had it. The guys there know their cars, do a really good job, understand the ZX and above all are honest and fairly cheap!! I also use the local privately owned garden centre, farm shop and butchers....... Richard:)
  8. Nothing wrong with that mate...... .....I built 2 00-guage layouts when I lived at my parents. They still have the second one in their garage but I reckon it may need a little TLC to restore it to full working order now! Mine was a mixture of Hornby, Mainline and Airfix stuff; I'd build another now if I had the time and space. A nice 0-guage set up in the garden would be good though. Hmmmmm...... Go for it mate - and put up some pics when you're done! Richard:) ps and Si, I remember I loved that motor smell as well:rofl:
  9. Back in 1992 I bought a J-reg Ford Scorpio 2.0 twin cam. It was only 6 months old and it was crap! It must have gone back to Ford at least once a week to have one problem or another rectified. I reckon that in the 2 or 3 months I owned it I probably only drove it for about a week!!! That was without a doubt the worst car I ever owned - I swapped it for a new-ish Cavalier 2.0CDi in the end and I didn't miss the Scorpio one bit! After that, I've never wanted to own another Ford. Except maybe the GT...... Richard:slap:
  10. Sure is Si, I got it in Allparts. It cost me around £70 IIRC - I did buy a £45 one from another motor factors before that but it only lasted 5 minutes (well, just after the warranty expired actually)!! Richard:)
  11. As ever, Si, you're not one to mince your words.............. ........but it is so true:rofl: Richard
  12. Hey Si, I bought an 068 battery last April and it fits perfectly under the stock battery clamp. Like a glove in fact! Richard:cool:
  13. Interesting vehicle.......... ......if a little ugly though;) And it looks like one or both of the front tyres are almost bald! But good luck with it mate Richard:)
  14. All good points...... ......and yes; there are a few affordable high performace cars nowadays that will compare with or exceed the speeds of a 300zx. But hardly any of those are "hot hatches." More like the higher spec'ed larger engined BMWs/Mercs/Audis. My daily drive is an SLK350; which will out perform my 300zx in a 0-60 dash. 0-100 I'm not so sure though - but I'm certain that not many a modern hot hatch will will keep up with the Merc...... I also think that since many 300zxs have many years and miles under their belts; those that have not had the advantage of a re-build, could probably not achieve the performance stats they once may have. This may allow a BMW 330ci some advantage; but any Z32tt still working as Nissan intended should see it off. Not the 335 (or the 135 - it weighs nothing) though - that twin turbo engine is superb! Richard:)
  15. Exactly! Not on a 300zx anyway........ ......it's a 3 speed plus overdrive; giving 4 gears. 5 speed (and more) autos on passenger cars are a more recent development; new-ish BMWs and Jags have 5 speed auto transmissions whilst Mercedes use 7 speeds on their bigger engined cars. Richard:cool:
  16. Me neither:rofl: Richard;)
  17. It's a very sad loss.....:( Kids TV shows today could (and should) learn a lot from him. That's the 3rd celebrity this week - Dai Llewellyn; Patrick McGoohan (Of The Prisoner; hopefully spelt correctly) and now Tony Hart. RIP Tony et all Richard
  18. Just a thought; For those of you who work at a VDU for most of the day, your employer should be paying for your eye tests......... ........along with the "reasonable cost" of corrective vision if you need it for working at said VDU or if you can prove your deterioration in sight was down to having to work at a VDU. Richard;) PS sounds like a good deal, Stella........
  19. Same here really......... ........although I may let the ZX go if I bought a 240Z. Richard:)
  20. But unlike the typical Max Power style; there was no fat munter with her tits out........... Fortunately:tongue: Richard:wack: PS, please don't anybody post one now or I'll be forced to delete it:nono:

Fuel RON should not make much difference; I think (and someone will correct me if I'm wrong) but on a standard car the ECU will do something clever to compensate for the lower octane fuel. Higher octane fuel could improve performance and reduce detting in hot summer temperatures though. My UK spec runs perfectly on 95 RON and to be honest there is no point using super/V-power etc. But when outside temp reaches 28 degrees it definately runs better on super...... Richard:cool:
  22. In fact I find it gets better the more it's used........ ........as a second car my Z sits in the garage most of the week; but it comes out for weekends and a few holiday trips. It always runs well, but after a 1000 miles of driving during New Year week in Cornwall, I reckon it actually improved the more I drove it!! Van any other "occasional" Z-users relate to that? Richard:cool:
  23. Clean the lenses and have the lights adjusted professionally for a start! This will make a great difference. Then, as Si says, fit an HID conversion kit to the projector dipped beams. The results will be good. Richard:cool:
  24. Mine also runs very well........ Richard:)
