Valuation
Very good point Pete..... We are the UK's major 300zx Z32 owner's club so perhaps this is something we need to be thinking about for the future!! Richard

UK 300 looking good
Have they? I thought they were standard UK spec ones mate...! Richard:ninja:

so how much more is going to go wrong!!!!!!!!
Sorry to hear that mate - don't lose heart after all the work you have put into it. I'm sure you can get it repaired, good luck. Richard:clover:

MOT tomorrow
That is not bad considering the time and effort needed to do the work. As said, once it's done though, it will not need doing again as long as you own the car. JeffTT did the ones on my old red ZX; replacing them with copper pipes so they won't rust again...! Give him a call (not sure when he's back from his holidays though) and ask. Richard:thumbup1:

UK 300 looking good
Lovely!! Do you think so? I'd say that £6k for a clean, straight, non-rusty, UK spec manual with a genuine 66k miles is well worth the money...!! As Gary says, that is where we want to be with prices - and good ones should always command such premiums. Hell I'd buy that like a shot if I were in the market for another 300zx. Looks like it's missing the engine under-tray though.... Richard:thumbup1:

beware of scammers
Good spot Allan - and thanks for the heads up mate!! So if anyone receives replies off the forum to their wanted adds posted on here, then beware!! Most sellers on here would reply in your wanted thread - or by PM - both of which only subscribed members are permitted to do!! And I doubt the scammers will start subbing....:shifty: This one real benefit of us having rules allowing only subscribed memebrs to sell on the forum! Richard:thumbup1:

Valuation
I agree; very odd. After all, someone who has worked on the car should have more extensive knowledge of its condition.... ....Yup, drop Steve Burns a PM or visit the Zclub and ask directly. I have just taken out a new classic policy with Lancaster Insurance and whilst they charge £15 for the agreed value add-on, they offered to do the valuation for me based on the shed load of pictures I e-mailed over. But if their valuation does not agree to mine, I will be asking Jeff or the Zclub for a second opinion!! Richard:thumbup1:

What brand oil
Hello, There are plenty of threads about oil - and each one will give you a different opinion!!! But for what it's worth, unless your engine is seriously modified and you take it on the track regularly, then don't bother with 10w60. Nissan recommends a 10w40 semi synthetic which is still more than adequate - I use a fully synthetic myself; however I have heard that it's not good to use fully synthetic oil in a newly built engine until it is properly run in. Stick with something like Castrol Magnatec 10w40 for the first 1000 miles and then change it, using the same again for another 4000 miles. After that upgrade to a fully synthetic if you want to.... Sorry to hear that Rob - I hope you get it sorted mate. I heard about the flooding in Somerset today; one of my engineers lives in Taunton and he mentioned the state of the roads down there this morning... Richard:no:

New owner
Hi and welcome mate.... Congratulations on your new purchase - sounds like you have a couple of issues to iron out. If you're after a ZX specialist we have 2 on here; JeffTT owns Zedworld; probably the best 300zx garage in the world but he's miles away from you in Birmingham. However Jimmer (Powerzed) is in Bristol and also has much experience of all things 300zx related. As for the colour of your car; a grey UK spec 1994 car would be KL1. I believe it's called "Tempest Grey Graphite Pearl" well, at least according to the sales brochure it is! Good luck, Richard:thumbup1:

scumbags

RB26 on a ZED!
My thoughts too - whatever the merits of one engine over the other, I just could not justify the extra work and cost involved..... .....but a V8 conversion..... Hmmm!!! Richard:laugh:
-
what size tires??
Yup - perfect. I have the same combination myself - the tyres are not rediculously expensive in those sizes either. Plus the speedo is pretty much spot on (according to my sat nav); at 70 mph speedo and GPS agree and at 100 (not on the public road of course) it's only 1-2 mph out. Richard:thumbup1:

private plates
Ahem - I quite like personalised plates.... ....providing they actually mean something; and are not stupidly mis-represented to spell something so badly, that no-one gets it. Mine are my initials, so pretty standard.... DVLA's 'site is the best place to buy from; they are usually the cheapest and they include VAT and transfer charges in the price. Plus you know you're not going to get ripped off. The plate you refer to above is no doubt up for auction and will sell for a lot more then the £400 reserve, but you can get some bargains. I bought the plate I now have on my Z for £395 all in back in 1998; and a very similar one for £495 in 2006. They are "B" and "D" plates with one number followed by my 3 initials - and the matching "H" plate I have on Julia's car was only £295 inclusive! Richard:thumbup1:
