F355 Info
Probably because he didnt want to pay £100 for an oil filter ;) Dont forget these cars are not one where you can go to Halfords and pick up a few parts. I bet nearly every part will have to be ordered from Ferarri which means lots of ££$$. Stuart

should i buy one????????
MPG: Anything from 16mph, for short round town trips to 32 on long motorway trips taking it easy. Driving about 80mph will get you about 25mpg. Service costs: Change the oil and oil filter every 3000 miles. Tyres every year (Depends on how hard you drive) will cost you £100 each for good stock sized ones. Parts are very expensive, but there are places where you can get used parts for a fraction of the cost of a new one. There are places which can save you a few quid on the new parts too. Importing from the US also helps save on some parts. The worst that can happen is your engine blowing which will cost you over £1000 to mend, blown turbos will probably cost about the same depending on what turbos you get, reconditioned ones or new. There is a general trend when you buy one of these cars, if it brakes put a better one on. £5,000 should get you a desent one now that the prices have come down, but there are more dogs out there than good ones, so be very carful what you buy. Try take some one who knows the car with you when you go to look. Where about are you from? Stuart

F355 Info
You have to look at the people who buy these things, dont forget people who have them now bought them new or nearly new and they would have cost £50,000+ and I dont think people who can afford that money would spend thier time on a forum to talk about modding, rust and what work they can do theirselves. ;) Its all well being able to afford one, but you need to know matainance, like pad changes, exhausts, clutches, they will be the killers. Got the car, now need to finish it off!!
Pillar pods I think Smithy can get them or the Zcentre. The Din pod I have in the centre I got from http://www.swgmotorsport.com/asps/Search.asp?types=yes&type=Mk2+GOLF Its about half way down the list. It needs a little fileing down to make it fit, but not much

Got the car, now need to finish it off!!
1) If you are getting 3 gauges, the most common ones are Boost, Water Temp and Oil pressure. If you are getting 2 I suggeste Boost and Oil pressure. 3)a) The Autoboxes do tend to last longer with oil coolers on. 3)b) I think the UK one has an AutoBox oil cooler, but I may be wrong. I know the UK Manual has an oil cooler at the back of the car. Stuart

Now my car is not warming up.
Strange thing is I dont stay in safety boost that long. Untill its gets to about 45-50C then its off. But I heard it comes off when it reaches 60C Speaking of safty boost. I had my first esperience of detonation. I didnt even hear it happen. The car stuttered once and then safty boost was on. I think I was asking too much from it in 5th. Stuart

To damn right too ;)

Now my car is not warming up.
They are both reading about the same. Aftermarket reads 40-50C and the stock gauge hardly gets past the bottom line of the temp gauge.

Can I be the one who puts the sencible hat on now. !!!!! No job is safe, thinks happen. Dont spend it all because in a few years things may happen and you will regret it. But if I had the money I would do what TonyC said. Go Japan, get a good 2 seater Hardtop Z say about a 1999 one, then take it to a tuners and ship it back. :D Stuart

Now my car is not warming up.
My car has gone from over heating, well not dangerously overheating but getting hotter than it usually does, to now struggling to warm up. My car now struggles to reach 60C no matter what my car is doing. Sitting in traffic, motorway driving, country driving with lots of braking and accelerating, it just doesnt get to 60C. I think It did reach 60C and that was with country driving with the Air Con on, but 5 mins after I turned it off, the temperature was back down. Its not just my extra temperature gauge which shows this, my stock one isn't even reading 1/4 the way up. Could my thermostat be stuck open? And when it was over heating, it not opening all correctly? Its no big deal at the moment, but when winter comes I will want to put the heater on and I wont be able to do this if the engine is hardly warm enough. Suggestions? Stuart
