falken tyres
Considering your tyre is 4cm wider (Over 15% wider) and lower profile they would "feel" better, thats the reason behind wider and lower profile tyres. But the stock size they are not good. The tyre wall is way too soft and you can feel it flexing while going round sharp corners, which is very off putting especially when it flicks back when you straighten up. In the wet they are quite good no complaintes there, straight line not bad, but I always get a little screech of the tyres when pulling off and when I change to 2nd which it never did before. It's the flexing which is my bigest complaint with them, to the fact I went back to the tyre shop and asked if there was anything wrong with it. Any tyre I can push in the side wall with my finger with ease is not strong enough. Dont forget these are amarican tyres, they like soft squidgy sidewalls.

falken tyres
My dad bought some cheap tyres a few years ago for his car. It was not a well known brand of tyre (at the time) so where not in demand. They cost im £36 each, but they where fantastic. The year or so after he asked for these tyres again, only to find out they had gone up to over twice as much because the company had become more known. So he didnt get the Toyos again ;) Just becasue they are cheap doesnt mean they are no good. Like I said, they are the best tyre in that price range for a Z. They cost about the same as Marshalls, Kuhmo, Fulda etc but the Falkens are the best of the lot. They look good too. Only problem i had with them they are very very very slippy when you first put them on. So dont go anywhere too fast untill they are scrubbed in. A nice wheels spin should do the trick ;) Stuart

Woohoo - new PB!
How can it proove Nelson right as some drivers put more weight in the rear of the car to make it go better?

falken tyres
I 2nd that. I probably gave the wrong impression of what I said. I think they are the best medium priced tyres their are. To get anything better you will be looking at paying £50 more a tyre. Mine lasted 10,000 miles but I always change them before they reach the tread bar Stuart

Woohoo - new PB!
Wider tyres will help a lot as you can get more power down with out spinning them. Getting rid of MASS in the front of the car would be helpful. I hear the engine bay is very heavy. Get rid of it. ;) Or put sand bags in the book but jettison them when you are finished with 1st gear? Stuart :D

Woohoo - new PB!
Actually about that, when I took out the whole of the rear interior, I found the car was too light at the back as I would wheel spin very very easily. Stuart

How much is it for a day at Pod? What mods do you have to get 13.5?

ecu socket
The person who did mine cut the old chip out too. I think he used some sort of special tool as it took a day longer that said because he had to take the tool from work. Probably the a soldering iron. ;) He also sprayed something over the whole thing when he did it and left the ECU open to dry for a few hours. Any one know what it would have been? Stuart

Awsome power to weight ratio? I think Nelson will have something to say about that ;)

falken tyres
I had them on the rears and I think they area a good tyre for the cost. If you can afford more espensive ones go for them but if you are stuck for money they are not a bad choice. Stuart

Newbee, buying advice
That vibration is most probably the prop shaft centre bearing worn out. Its a common thing. Check under the car for rust. If it is just surface rust and you can clean it up its no problem. I did the wrong thing and bought the first Z I saw and it is rusting all over. But on the other hand its probably got the most reliable engine on here and its the highest milage. This boost upgrade, what is on the recepit? Does it just say boost upgrade? Are there any boost controllers in the car? Where does the recept say it was done. Stuart

Strange noise
UK cars only chime when the lights are on and a door is open. Jap imports chime all the time, when you reverse, when you reach close to the limit, when the Mr. K. is taking a crap etc. and I think the random when the hell it fells like too. Stuart

Rattles!
Dont forget as it gets colder, the interior panels will shrink a little and often dont quite touch the joining panel causing it rattle or squeek. For some reason my T-Top handle is starting to rattle. Stuart

"Forum" night out.
People who have not been to Wigan before, there are about 10 pubs/clubs on 1 street, King Street, and then about 10 or so more pubs scattered around the area, all within walking distance from each other. Stuart

How much HP can the stock manual gearbox take?
I believe the box is 600bhp before you are looking to change the internals of it. But upgrading the box can give you quite a bit more power to your wheels.
