  1. any differing size / spec front / rears?
  2. I guess this comes up from time to time and a search will produce some stuff, but................ I have some bog standard pretty awful speakers in my Zed. I have an Alpine header which is excellent. I want to change the 4 speakers (no tweeters anywhere I assume?) So what is a good combo? I want good bass response from the rear set and a pair of good range 2-way spks for the front. What's the smart money on? I don't mind enlarging the apetures a tad to acommodate slightly larger ovals. cheers Chris
  3. Just had my custom ProSpeed system fitted. I was a tad disappointed with the 'quietness' of the sound when it first started up. I took it for a spin and realised that if it were any louder the new noise that is now audible within the cockpit would in time get on my nerves. Also my zorst builder said that the system would 'bed in' over a few hundred miles and actually raise in decibels by about 5 or 6. I didn't know zorsts bedded in - but I can only put that down to the emission residue coating the wadding and muffler parts to the extent that sound absorbtion reaches it's max and therefore the output gets louder. Also the note on a Turbo powered car will never have the same sound as a NA car due to the massive interuption in the gas flow waves by the turbo impellers - the sound waves only start to sort themselves out by the time they reach the tail boxes. It doesn't mean the turbo has a worse note or tone - it's just different. The H balancer pipe will always make a twin V6 zorst sound a bit v10 or v 12. Not being a 'Boy Racer' my zorst guy said, 'I gave you a more mature and quality sound' now what's he trying to say? I'll keep you posted as the miles roll on. If not totally convinced then he has agreed to reduce my tail boxes by another inch diameter and an inch in length - but these may just grow on me. Auto's are a pain with a constant drone - so if you're not careful what sounds great in the workshop or going up the High Street may cause you some 'mental issues' after a long haul on the Motorway. (Again, may not apply to most Zed owners as clearly something seriously lacking with us to start with, Ah hem! ). Meethinks a set of Bose speakers may well combat any such 'feature' of a new zorst. A bi-product of this new system has been the tendency to keep flooring it just to max out the growl. This will of course reduce fuel consumption and mean I'm less efficient (which has no meaning at all in Zed-speak...............) Anyhoo, my tuppence worth. I'll put pics of the new twins ASAP. ps I think a warning here for anyone considering a new 'loud' system. Start a tad softer than you want and just wait. It'll go up a few notches on it's own. Then if not satisfied you can go for louder. Starting the other way round - you'll get fed up and wish you hadn't chopped yer old system.
  4. OK I sent you an email.
  5. Nah!! It's ALL about Zeds - who you kidding??
  6. Can't do 2 weekends on the trot - so the 9/10th Nov it is for me.
  7. Just around the corner in South Wales! - will be there with my Zed on the Friday. And also my mate with his almost identical Zed.
  8. Answer "The posted speed limit is inappropriate and the conditions, visibility and road status were such that it was wholly safe, proper and reasonable to exceed the limit". Question "Young criminals with guns, shootings daily, drug dealing out of control, drugged drivers and stolen cars on our roads, foreign nationals with no documents causing grief and mayhem, so what's YOUR excuse for not prioritizing your detections?" In the top 10 of things that keep people awake at night and in fear on our streets, Speeding doesn't feature at all. Makes you wonder................................ Sorry got carried away a bit. ps just to clarify - I am not advocating breaking the law. Clearly out of 25 million motorists out there only a small percentage would drive 'appropriately' given a free hand. And when this government allow the next 21 million immigrants in (as they just stated) I guess there won't be any need for speed limits as we'll be like LA in terms of grid-lock (and probably their homicide rate too.........) Back to the therapy....................
  9. Dan - thanks for the update and sorry about the news. Just update my order when you have time. cheers Chris
  10. No probs go ahead - I think I may have a better rant for you - I'll dig it out later cheers Chris
  11. Can't remember - only put an advert on recently that's it I think. Why u ask?
  12. That's been mooted many times before - BUT........... as you know - no-one is going to make the first step. It's like boycotting petrol stations or refusing to buy petrol for 2 days. About 4 people out of 20million ever bother. That's the only thing we can learn from Europe (apart from not showering very often) is how to ruin the governments day. We couldn't organise a Prayer Meeting in a Priory........................
  13. Re Speed Cameras - there's an adage that goes, 'Anything looks like a nail when you have a big enough hammer'. Laser guns were a solution looking for a problem. I was a Traffic Cop for 15 years and a Road Safety Officer for 3 years. The same number of people were killed on British roads in 1981, 82 and 83 as there are today - 10 years after Scamera Units were set up. However the income from cameras is in the tens of millions. You figure it out. Speeders never caused me a problem when on patrol. However, drunk, careless, reckless, innattentive and stolen car drivers all used to cause mayhem. No cameras for those I'm afraid, plus it COSTS to bring them to book, whereas you get income and fabulous swelling coffers from technology policing. Bitter and twisted? Me? Nah - just realistic. Speed does not kill. If it did then every F1 driver would be dead. That's the applied logic. Therefore it must be 'inappropriate' speed that kills. So, make the speed limits appropriate on UK roads and RTAs would decrease. Makes sense - so don't expect the tree-hugging, courdiroy wearing, bed-wetting, liberal, left, nannyist, Eco-warrior, swamp loving types to support it. Unfortunately it is these types that have the ear of MPs they form pressure groups and they know how to lobby. We know how to moan but not how to cause activity that will stop governments in their tracks and re-think stupid and banal limits and pricing and fuel taxes..................... Back to bed for a rest now.
  14. To be accurate I have personally emailed Steve (on this and another matter) , PM'd and posted here ages ago never had an acknowledgement of anything. Ever. So it's not a given.
  15. You are quite right - apparantly the curved veins in the centre of the disc mean they should be fitted contrarywise to the usual way. Maybe I should have checked that out b4 posting Ah Hem!! cheers ps learn a little something everyday I say ;)
  16. ZX Girl - is there anyone at 300zx.co.uk that can at least answer whether I am getting a member pack or can get a confirmation letter for my insurance company? The deadline is today and they say that cover is limited as they haven't received my Club Membership letter. Very disappointing and frustrating to send PMs and posts and emails with no effect at all.. thanks Chris ps I'll wait til end of day and will have to join another 300 club to get a letter I suppose.
  17. Um correct me if I'm wrong but your discs seem to be fitted on the wrong side of the car. Shouldn't the groove sweep out towards the windscreen and not the front bumper?? Been fitting bigger brakes for 10 years and always done it that way according to my engineer.? cheers Chris
  18. Now I don't actually know your Aunty - but I would have to agree, the Zed would deffo win on looks!!! :D
  19. Asim - if you buy the October mag Japanese Performance - it has a feature on the 300ZX and a little comparison chart at the end of the article. cheers Chris
  20. Yes it was in that thread - I'm just saying I couldn't find it by going to Private Forum - General Discussion - and checking myself. Obviously there's an easy way and a hard way - it's a bit like a Computer Game - but I didn't have any Shootem ups on the way to finding my number!!
  21. Thanks Zgirl. Incidentally I followed all the process to find my own number but couldn't see it anywhere - I eventually got it by following a 2006 thread that has all members listed. Where the heck does the Mem number appear? cheers Chris ps I know I'm 1097 - but I found that on someone elses list!!
  22. Thanks. Exuse my ignorance but I didn't know I had to send anything else through. What info does Steve need? cheers Chris
  23. Can someone in Admin please let me know if I am a member of this 300zx club? My insurance comp is rattling my cage and I've had no response from this thread or emails I've sent to the Contact email address. thanks Chris ps silence is not golden - it just frustrates people.
