  1. A man in Wales buys several sheep hoping to breed them for wool. After several weeks, he notices that none of the sheep are getting pregnant and phones a vet for help. The vet tells him that he should try artificial insemination. The farmer doesn't have the slightest idea what this means but, not wanting to display his ignorance, only asks the vet how he will know when the sheep are pregnant. The vet tells him that the sheep will stop standing around and instead will lie down and wallow in the grass. The man hangs up and gives it some thought. He comes to the conclusion that artificial insemination means he has to impregnate the sheep himself. So he loads the sheep into his Land Rover, drives them out into the woods, has sex with them all, brings them back and goes to bed. Next morning, he wakes and looks out at the sheep. Seeing they are all still standing around, he deduces that the first try didn't take so loads them in the Land Rover again. He drives them out to the woods, bangs each sheep twice for good measure, brings them back and goes to bed exhausted. Next morning, he wakes to find the sheep still just standing around. "Try again" he tells himself and proceeds to load them up again, does his thing, drives home and falls listlessly into bed. The next morning, he cannot even raise himself from the bed to look out of the window. He asks his wife to look and tell him if the sheep are lying in the grass. "No" she says "they're all in the Land Rover and one of them is beeping the horn!
  2. You need help to do this – unless you are really good. But, even if you have help and do this, you still need help – if you see what I mean. :wack:
  3. Loved it – cold callers really annoy me with their bullshit – they are such a PITA. Wouldn't mind doing something like that to them, but they always seem to call at the most inconvenient moment and I always have to interrupt their "spiel" to politely but firmly tell them, "I have to tell you I am really not interested, thank you and goodbye", before hanging up without further ado.
  4. Wonder if they will still be doing this when it's -10°C in February... I can't see any speed signs! NWS!
  5. Don't know if this ahs been posted, but worth watching! >clicky
  6. Why did I know it wouldn't be simple? :p You reckon a 90's Blaupunkt won't have the the ISO block then? Not that I'd know what it looks like
  7. Is the stock slot OK for modern radios then? Just out with the old and in with the new using the same connectors?
  8. Cool! Thanks for the link :) Did you just buy the black lower compartment with the sprung flap [Z32IN50C], then have the whole centre bit sprayed like that?
  9. Did a search, but couldn't find anything and have a few questions about the centre console and ICE :) My Swiss '93 ZXTT 2+2 manual has a 90's Blaupunkt radio/cassette player in the top mounting and a Fischer cassette storage unit in the space below (don't know if this was an aftermarket thing or in from new). The cable to my boot floor mounted CD changer melted (!) after a track day, and I thought it was a good time for an upgrade. I wanted to take out the cassette storage unit (which I don't use), but there is nothing behind it but the wires of underdash space... :( Ideally, I'd like to have a centre console with one slot for the radio/CD and use the other slot as a storage space for sunglasses, phone, etc. Is there anything like that for the ZX? What has everyone else done? I've seen legrath has a different surround on his signature pic. Tried to send a pm but for some reason couldn't. Is that a one-off, or are there more useful ICE holders than the stock one available anywhere, as that cassette thingy is a waste of space? Just wondering what my options are to mount new ICE. Is a new surround needed if I go out and buy a modern radio/CD combo, or will it slot right in? What problems could I have? Are the connectors still the same as in the 90's so I can just unplug the old and plug in the new? As you can see, I know nothing about it – don't know if the stock radio unit space is in a DIN slot or ISO, or even if that is the same! :D All help gratefully received :)
  10. Oops – that link to my pic wasn't right. Second attempt: >clicky
  11. Sorry about that – only realised afterwards and was not happy!. Had the cam on a tripod lashed in the back – very improvised!
  12. I was at (and sometimes over) the limit trying to defend the Z's honour! :) My main criticisms of the ZX as a track car are: 1. The weight, and related to this, 2. The brakes. The Porterfields work well, but there is inadequate cooling – on a tight and twisty circuit at least. Great for road use though. 3. The lack of traction. Front-engined, rwd means you can't get back on the power through an apex as early as you can in a mid-engined or rear-engined car. Makes it great for drifting, but that's not the quickest way to go round corners on a track, of course. It was certainly fun to track it for once though. I would recommend it as a way to learn more about your car :) Here's a pic of my ZX: >clicky
  13. Thought you might like to see my ZX chasing a mate's 911 Turbo on a little track in France. I've got 340bhp (Swiss Nissan main agent tuning) and the carbon-kevlar brake pads (from Smithy  ). For track use, the brakes definitely need more cooling – they were almost on fire at times... If you click to the right of the video on the blue text "more from this user", you'll see what I normally used on track, though that got written off going over the edge on a mountain pass last October. The replacement is going on the road in March: Lotus Exige Cup with 265bhp supercharger. Can hardly wait! >clicky
  14. Front-engined, high bhp rwd is a good recipe for drifting, but not for traction (as there is a lower proportion of the weight over the driven wheels than in eg. a fwd, front-engined hatch, which is why the Golf has less probs). The Z is less fun on a track than a mid- or rear-engined car in my experience, as you have to wait longer exiting corners until you can get back on the power. You need a gentle right foot in slippy conditions or the power just spins the wheels, even in third.
  15. Borrowed from another forum: Car Crime A blonde decides to earn a bit of spare cash to feed her shopping addiction by doing odd jobs. After hours of knocking on doors in a wealthy neighbourhood she arrives at the biggest house on the street, knocks on the door and says: "Do you have any odd jobs that need taking care of? I am offering handyman services at a very competitive rate." "Well, you can paint my porch," replies the well-dressed owner. "But how much will you charge?" "That'll be about £50." says the girl. The man agrees and tells her that the paint and other materials that she will need are in the garage. Inside the house the man's wife overhears the conversation and asks her husband: "Does she realise that the porch goes all the way around the house?" "She should, she was standing on it," replies the man. A short time later, the blonde comes to the door to collect her money. "You're finished already?" he asks. "Yes," the blonde answers, "and I had paint left over, so I gave it two coats." Impressed, the man reaches in his pocket for the £50. "And by the way," the blonde adds, "it's not a Porch, it's a Ferrari."
  16. My 300ZXTwinTurbo with 340bhp and manual box has shown an indicated 270kmh = 168mph on the derestricted german autobahn and that still wasn't maxed out. I was cruising for miles at 155mph. Passed a 911GT3 and that upset him so much he just had to speed up and pass me – just before his turn-off! I just let him or he would have had sleepless nights... :))
  17. Thanks for the tip :) I'll check that out.
  18. Took my ZX on a track day. Good fun! On the way home, found the radio was dead and the air con had switched off. Radio would not turn on but air con worked fine when readjusted – until I switch the ignition off, then all goes back to zero. Question 1: Are these two things related or is it just coincidence? Question 2: If it is a fuse, is it in the main box and, to save me hunting, can any one please described which one it is? If not a fuse, what's causing this? Ta! Btw, the site does not seem to like my Mac's Safari browser tonight. had to swap to Firefox... never had this before...
  19. Eighteen months ago, I upgraded to GirlFriend 1.0 from DrinkingMates 4.2, which I had used for years without any trouble. However, there are apparently conflicts between these two products and the only solution was to try and run GirlFriend 1.0 with the sound turned off. To make matters worse, GirlFriend 1.0 is incompatible with several other applications, such as LadsNightOut 3.1, Football 4.5, and Playboy 6.9. "Successive versions of GirlFriend proved no better. I tried a shareware program, Slapper 2.1, but it had many bugs and left a virus in my system, forcing me to shut down completely for several weeks. Eventually, I tried to run GirlFriend 1.2 and Girlfriend 1.0 at the same time, only to discover that when these two systems detected each other, they caused severe damage to my hardware. I eventually upgraded to Fiancée 1.0, only to discover that this product soon had to be upgraded further to Wife 1.0. While Wife 1.0 tends to use up all my available resources, it does come bundled with FreeSexPlus and Cleanhouse2003. "Shortly after this upgrade, however, I found that Wife 1.0 could be very unstable and costly to run. Any mistakes I made were automatically stored in Wife 1.0's memory and could not be deleted. They then resurfaced months later when I had forgotten about them. Wife 1.0 also has an automatic Diary, Explorer and E-mail Filter, and can, without warning, launch TurboStrop and Whinge. These latter products have no Help files, and I have to try to guess what the problem is. "Additional problems are that Wife 1.0 needs updating regularly, requiring ShoeShop Browser for new attachments and Hairstyle Express which needs to be reinstalled every other week. Wife 1.0 also spawns unwelcome child processes that drain my resources. These conflict with some of the new games I wanted to try out, warning me that they are an illegal operation. "Also, when Wife 1.0 attaches itself to my Audi TT hard drive, it often crashes. Wife 1.0 also comes with an irritating pop-up called Mother-In-Law, which can't be turned off. Recently I've been tempted to install Mistress 2003, but there could be problems. A friend of mine has alerted me to the fact that if Wife 1.0 detects Mistress 2003, it tends to delete all of your Money before uninstalling itself."
  20. I've posted it up on SELOC (Lotus site) and VX220 forum HTH :)
  21. We discussed this a few weeks back when I asked about my manual that crunches only on 4th to 5th change up unless done veeeeeeery slowly. In the meantime I've heard other reports about Redline MT90 not being any help – and in this MR2 it made it worse! HERE Is there anyone on here who can really confirm that it works when you use the car as it was intended? Would be nice – here's an example why: A couple of weeks ago in Germany, I was cruising on the Autobahn at an indicated 155mph (effortless) and came up on a yellow Porsche GT3 who was doing around 145mph. I went by him, but I don't think he liked it because the next time I was baulked by a slower vehicle down to about 125mph, he closed up to my back bumper to show he wanted past when the road was clear. I wasn't going to argue as his car is clearly quicker – if he wants to drive erratically to prove a point I don't care. When the slower car moved out of the way, I floored it and immediately moved over to let him go. It just would have been nice to show him how quick the Z really is – as it was I had to do a looooooooooooong up change which rather spoilt it :( Still not had a chance to establish vmax – had it up to an indicated 270km/h (= 167mph) and was still rising when I had to slow for traffic. This car eats continents – pity you can only do that legally in Germany.
  22. 3 stone = 3 x 14lbs = 42lbs = 19kg see here: http://www.onlineconversion.com/weight.htm :)
  23. The Motormax model has the filler cap behind the wheel arch as on the 2+2, but it looks like its the short wheelbase 2-seater version if you look inside??? The Tamiya one is the short wheelbase version (as are the 1/24th scale plastic kits from Tamiya and Fujimi that I've got). And the only 1/18 models I've seen have been the short wheelbase ones. Any one know if there has ever been a model of the 2+2?
