i suppose if you want a "track day wheel" then you would be better going for a forged, lightweight wheel :) light and strong is what you need Mike

8 Pot/356mm brake setup for under a grand!
i suppose it all boils down to you get what you pay for, these are a good budget brake setup plain and simple :)

Apexi FC Commander
the gems is a competition ecu that was made for the likes of the subaru rally teams etc but has also been used in many other ecus like the one i run is the AEM which is developed for the 300zx. as i have said before you can fit an apexi but its not a straight bolt on as some of the wiring is different on the skyline one, from memory theres 3 wires which need changing over and about 4 systems which the skyline version will not run as they dont have them on a skyline!! i think border in japan made some power fc's to fit the 300zx so i presume thats one of them in that mag feature? you can buy the aem direct from the USA so shouldnt be too much of an issue, not sure how you would get on with the mapping?? i know theres a big power supra drag car over there running the aem so may be worth looking into to find out who mapped it? 8 Pot/356mm brake setup for under a grand!
I was thinking more like this http://www.apracing.com/info/technology.htm bolting them onto a couple of cars and running them is hardly R&D sorry this sounds like i'm giving these brakes a hard time but you need to be so careful with unknown import stuff nowadays ;) Mike

8 Pot/356mm brake setup for under a grand!
Well its something you need to ask the place which is selling them, dont get me wrong they may be fine but with something as important as the brakes i would rather not take ANY chances!! just that at the moment theres sooooo many chinese companies ripping off other stuff off at the moment, i should know i went round a place last week and they actually showed me copies of just about everything you can think of, manifolds, filters, wheels, gauges etc etc the list goes on ;)

8 Pot/356mm brake setup for under a grand!
My main point is Brembo/AP etc etc spend millions of pounds a year in R&D and testing to make sure their brakes do what they say on the tin :) Its OK with cheap brakes but i would like to see what R&D this brake manufacturer have done? and not just the company who are selling them? Mike

8 Pot/356mm brake setup for under a grand!
Their customer services may be good but thats no good if your working your car hard and the brakes fail is it ;) Also if these brakes have been developed for the 200sx then the 300zx is a different beast all together much heavier and more powerful (in stock form) so how would these brakes match upto a tuned zed?? Mike

8 Pot/356mm brake setup for under a grand!
that ok and a good price but like many other unknown brands coming out of china, who makes these? how tried and tested are they? can you get spare parts? call me old fashion but i'd rather stick to brakes that i know work and work well like AP's Brembo's Alcons's etc Good price though if they do work Mike

Apexi FC Commander
yes and no in fact the power fc is a pretty cheap ecu, yes its stand alone but its not a very fast and comprehensive ecu. Dont get me wrong i had one on my skyline and it worked very well but i also know my mapper fitted one onto a car but to show the difference between the apexi and a gems he copied the map across to the gems that he had just done on the apexi and ran the car on the rollers and it ran better and made just over 30 bhp more ;) it is a shame they never made a proper one for the 300zx Mike

gingers car back on sale
Not a bad looking car but as people have said in todays market 6 or 7k over priced so i'd say he's got more chance of seeing osama bin laden serving big macs at macdonalds than get that prics but he can hope LOL
-
Apexi FC Commander
yes you can rewire it and it will work but the zed's ecu controls more like the VTC etc and the R32 does not have that and to be honest once you cost in the extra maf, the cost of the ecu and then the mapping etc you may as well go for a ecu designed for a zed ;)
