  1. middlehurst used to be very good at tuning/servicing skylines but they lost most of the staff who setup their own business doing it ;) now known as RB Motorsports. Go on the GTR club or the skyline owners club and ask if someone will go with you who knows them well?? Mike
  2. yes and no, there are plenty of well maintained skylines running circa 600 bhp and not had any issues its certainly a stronger oem engine than the VG30 but again it all boils down to how its looked after lol
  3. just looked again and its in london so i would get him to take it to Abbey or GTART and ask them to give it the once over as they know skylines inside out and be able to tlel you exactly whats wrong and at least you will know Mike
  4. i seriously doubt the RAC or AA would have any clue!! they will look under the engine bay and scratch their head lol wasnt the one i was thinking of close though ;) http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/showthread.php?t=56086 as i said could be something really easy, could end up costing you money!! brakes are worth a bit Mike
  5. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1998-NISSAN-SKYLINE-GTR-V-SPEC-R33_W0QQitemZ280024881551QQihZ018QQcategoryZ18238QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ;)
  6. it was for sale fairly recently so my first thoughts are keep away as its far too cheap for something little like a misfire, could be plugs, coil packs, AFMs etc pretty much the same stuff as the zed?
  7. lol figure of speech :p ammended for her just had a quick feel and if there not real there great copies and i dont care
  8. lol yeh, not been doing the car as much as i usualy do so the wifes happy ;) plus i have just booked a christmas shopping trip for her and hired a luxury villa for next year so shes a happy chappess
  9. The brakes are 355mm and you can get them from nengun for about £1700 delivered but i paid slightly less than that :) I test fitted them today to make sure the wheels fit ok and guess what?? NOPE  so i am going to have to change the wheels ;) so will get some lighter ones  This car will be the death of me
  10. well thats not entirely true, unless they feel the rears are losing traction they run mainly with all the power to the rears but the ECU transfers torque to the front wheels once it feels traction is being lost Mike
  11. Yeh this ones been for sale for a while but as with most jap cars, its hard to sell at the moment, especially with some damage. If you budget on a new front and rear bumper so about £600 + painting I see from your question about the seats, no they wont match as such as the front are the recaros but there worth a bit so if money is tight i would get some oem GTR seats which are pretty cheap to buy, fit them and sell the leather recaros to fund the bumper repairs ;) If you go to look at it check the usuals, ie oil, water, wear and tear stuff, also make sure the 4WD and ABS lights on start up come on and then go off again and make sure they stay off after a good long test drive as its pretty costly to put right. Good luck Mike
  12. Took the cover off my car today to remove my leather seats and some little tw@t has had a right good kick at my front wing!! We think because its on stands, someone has give it a kick to see if it would fall off :mac1: It was having a little bit of bodywork done anyway but pi55es me off as thats more money i didnt have to spend which i now do have to spend :( Bugger Mike
  13. just a quick update :) most of the engine is put together, had to remove the plenum to sort the twin fuel rail feed and return from the rail front ;) Pretty much all thats needed now is the downpipes to be made and the manifolds/turbos fitting then its ready to drop in the car :hyper: Oh and fit these :D :D God i love them :p Mike
  14. i can just see it when i get it back on the road "i'm sure your brakes were black??" "Naaa you stupid bint they were always gold!! jesus women"
  15. funny thing is the 355mm discs are nearly half the price of the 343mm discs as alot of kits come with 355mm so there more available :) the other way i looked at it is its cost me £400 on top of selling my brake kit to get brand new calipers, brand new pads and brand new discs now when you consider that decent new pads are over £200 and as you say new discs are about £300 each for the AP ones so the silly thing is its cheaper for me to do that rather than me replace the stuff i have already  Mike
  16. most metals can be polished especially aluminium
  17. nothing!! dont be sooo vain :p anything metalic i suppose could be cromed but as i put in the thread, crome will eventually flake due to all the heat so you would be better getting stuff polished and then laquered to keep it nice Mike
  18. hmmmm V10 viper engine :p nooo for one it simply wouldnt fit without major work ie letting the box and back of the engine go into the inside of the car and moving the dash and seats back etc so far too much work for my liking ;) My project is no secret, big turbos, big engine build, stripped out etc etc should be interesting :D
  19. sorry just noticed you have an na as well so yes you either have TT discs or you have some other discs which are too much in depth hence why the pads are grabbing them!! you need to take them back Mike
  20. I didnt think the oem discs were 30mm? i thought they were either 26 or 28mm in width?
  21. well apparently the AP calipers and greddy/grex ones are about as good as each other and about the best you can get!! but the greddy discs are better than the AP ones, plus there a little bigger ;) and the greddy rears are easier to get hold of so will be putting the rears on over the winter  Mike
  22. I really really must be mad I just couldnt resist them Hmmm new 6 pot greddy brakes with 355mm discs, endless pads God i would be in trouble if the wife knew  Mike
  23. All that crome may look good but in a bay like the zed it wont last long!! i bet within a few hundred miles he will have more bits of crome flaking of than elton john's had c0ck :)
