  1. the nissan book says you make a bracket and pull it from the side of the plenum but we always rope it under the rear and the crank pully and never had any issues Mike
  2. cheeky lol in answer, mine are facing the "right" way as the grooves yes cut into the pads hence work better but also channel air through them to help keep them cooler i suppose you could face them the other way but you would be a pussy if you did :p

i have a tig and chop saw if you want to borrow them mate ;)
  4. Jesus!! I'm only suprised the engine lasted as long as it did!! thats some serious piston slap you must have been getting :( Looks like someone has skimmed the heads and then someone doing it again and took it far too low, not the first time ive heard of it happening Mike
  5. CP pistons are superb, thats the ones i have in mine ;) Mike

give me a bell mate, i have a few ideas Mike
  11. JESUS its duffman :D Thought you had died mate  Nice to see you back on here Mike
  12. ahh so could just be old bearings with wear and tear??
  13. unlikely, detting would only usually affect the piston/rings! he must be running silly boost for things to go so t1ts up it would affect the bearings? as i said more likely down to oil starvation or something else?
  14. http://www.ultralitewheels.com/ http://www.elite-design.co.uk/ i have bought from both of these :)
  15. and if its been rebuilt with in a year then theres no way the bearings should need doing again unless theres been other factors ie oil pump failure etc?? but i would be banging on the door of the rebuilder Mike
  16. Hi Mate The numbers are stamped on the block to which bearings you need and i got mine from Mike Feeney :) Personally i would do a full engine out job to do a proper job of it mate as it just doesnt work just dropping the sump off!! unfortunatly thats cutting corners so in all honesty i would think about what your looking to do with the car ie if your looking to go for new pistons etc at some time and do it all while the engine is out? of course you can just refresh the engine with new bearings and rings etc :) Mike
  17. HKS EVC 5 quality ;) easy to use and set up and looks the dogs
  18. I think my metal HG will be fine ;) Its interesting that you and a few others come to the conclusion about metal head gaskets but how many do you know of which have failed? i dont mean the question as a sarcy question i am genuinly interested because the only one i know of is adamr's and the gasket failed due to a faulty spark plug dropping its tip. Mike
  19. tbh the mig way has only come from the cossies as they suffered from HG problems. i know peterr doesnt like them but theres loads of big power cars running them with no issues what so ever as well as big power zeds in the us and around the world so i personally dont have any issues with using them :) if i had the time/money tbh i would do both ie mig wire it and have a metal HG as well then its about as good as its gonna get lol Mike
  20. if you go to the traders section, they should be in there :) also well worth spending £20 and joining the club ;) a world of knowledge on here lol Mike
  21. No probs 1 - Yeh i would say as an average 16 is about right but all depends on how its driven!! on the motorway at 80 you can see mid 20's quite easily but driving it hard can easily see single figures ;) 2 - a full service yes every 6000 miles but an oil change every 3000 miles to be safe 3 - standard is 280 4 - increasing the oem BHP is always going to not help reliability but if you stick to the first few minor mods ie free flowing exhaust, decent air filter then you can if your still not happy for a decat, chip and boost controller to increase the boost from 9psi to 14 psi which is a big difference and you should see an increase to around 350-370 Mike
  22. if mine needs anything i have to go out and mug an old granny :smw: only joking if it needs it it usually gets it but i dont smoke, i dont go out much, i dont drink much so its my only vice really :) Mike
  23. for the power of them turbos i would think a OEM HG would do the job fine but yes if you want a little more safety then fitting a metal HG is fine :) the oil pump on a zed is very very good anyway so just fitting a new oem one will be fine Mike
  24. if your new to 300's then i wouldnt recommend doing it yourself but give one of the garages on here a bell to get a guestimate on how much it would be?? also it sounds like you may think its got a problem already?? if so then walk away, theres plenty of decent 300's for sale Mike
  25. As MAC says, when you get it mapped your mapper will get to a point where he cant get anymore power from the set up or if its weak in a certain area ie fueling or air intake it will show itself while mapping or if your very lucky you will get to the max of the turbos which is 18-19 psi and the mapper will be able to map her up for that which means your there :) Mike
