  1. Could try these guys, they have one listed.
  2. Thanks for the advice John, and everyone. I agree with you about getting a 2ns opinion, but I'm a bit screwed at the moment as I've not long moved to this area (just outside Southampton) and don't know of any steering/Z specialists, and also the car isn't taxed, so I can't really go further afield :headvswal :D I'll give MJP another try on Monday and see how the prices look. Cheers, PJ
  3. Hiya Vijay mate, good to talk to you again! Shit that's a lot of parts. Can kinda see how it all adds up to that kind of price, and why it'd be a bitch to trace the problem. Ah well, guess I'll go ahead with the new rack - will be good to see the back of that leak at least. Thanks for looking up those parts for me though.
  4. Cheers for the info, takemetothepub Just had a word with the tester and the only slightly more specific diagnosis is that a gaitor has split - don't know if that narrows the problem down. I'm thinking I might go for the new rack anyway - the leak did crop up at the last MOT, at the time I visited a garage recommended here where I got an additive to the steering fluid (I think, it's been a while now!) that stopped the leak, but it was never supposed to be a permanant solution... I have a feeling it might be the rack that creaks in damp weather too :D I've got a quote for the Nissan rack at £695 plus vat, is that the only option when going for a new one?
  5. Hi guys, Just been for an MOT and been informed I have a split somewhere in the steering rack and a fluid leak. Just wondering how much the rack is new (from Nissan only or can you get them elsewhere?) and what the opinion is on getting a second hand one put in? Thanks in advance PJ
  6. You're right, the Scarab is a lovely looking bumper (I would say that, I have one!) but yes, its fibreglass, so you'd have to be careful with it. From my experience, it will clear anything but the harshest speedhump/cushion, but it's too low to clear normal kerbs, and can cause trouble too on steep ramps. If in doubt, drive diagonal :D
  7. Probably the same guy I spotted down your way Saturday before last - must not be on here. Either that or an infrequent reader.

As I understand it, FIA rules state they can only bring the two selections made by each team; they weren't allowed to bring backups.
  9. Was gonna try this myself last night right after posting, when I loaded up though I remembered I was slap in the middle of a championship series! D'oh, need to finish that first :slap:
  10. Hmmm, well since most of us won't get to do it for real, how about using GT4 as the next best thing?? =) Lets see, hunt down a stock 300zx on the used car lists (they pop up reasonably frequently, actually I'm sure every one of us at least a handful in their garage already!), change the oil and go for it! Best time wins... er, the eternal respect of the forum ;) So to sum up: stock 300zx 2+2 TT, sports tyres, fresh oil - nurburgring time trial. That should ensure that the result are all down to the driver! Gentlemen, start your engines =)
  11. Also bear in mind that if you are accelerating heavily then the car will drop into power mode automatically - if this is what is happenning, when you come off the gas it will revert back and, presumably, drop into 4th gear. Try going up through the gears more gently and see if the same thing happens.
  12. Well that told me :D I stand behind my other point though!
  13. Lots of bullsh!t flying around in that thread: Only lap belts in the back?? And if you don't feel comfortable driving your car at speed, increase your driving skills! :headvswal
  14. Top info Mark, thanks, I'll give that a try. Do you have the model numbers of your kit so I can look them up and have a butchers? Was thinking of changing the HU soon but I'm getting a new exhaust fitted a week on Saturday and so need to save up the pennies again!
  15. Bit of a long shot, but I was just wondering if anyone had much experience of the Kenwood head units from a few years ago that have a motorised face plate that rotates around for security, or can be detached? I have one in my car but the motorised bit has stopped working! Head unit itself is still fine, but it means I can't access the CD loader, or take the faceplate off anymore! Anyone got any suggestions, other than taking a chisel and a large hammer to it!? :D
  16. Spotted somewhere near the seafront (I was lost at the time :D ), exchanged waves
  17. Confidential?? They don't know what they're talking about. Give the local council office a ring and ask them instead - if they give you the same line, throw the phrase "freedom of information act" around and see what happens :)
  18. Is this a matter of regulations, or does it damage the LSD if the rollers are used?
  19. If it still persists, you might need to delve into the registry - IE (assuming thats the browser in question) has loads of stuff in there that controls its operation and a lot of it can get overrun by crap like this. Wish I knew the whole lot of them for you, but look at stuff such as: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search Good luck
  20. Quick question for this resurrected thread! Does the Mongoose have any options for tailpipes, or do you only get the "standard look" quad-pipe arrangement? And also out of interest, those of you who went the Powerflow route, how are they holding up??
  21. PS3 is due in spring 2006, as for GT5, yeah you're probably right! No date announced yet.
  22. Woohoo! Gran Turismo 5 is coming! The first preview trailer is kicking about on the net I think - I'd post a link but I only just saw it on our company network so I don't actually have one! :slap: Vid came from Gamespot though. Anyway: at last the 6-car limit is gone... looking at something like at least 16 cars in a race now! Unbelievable increase in trackside detail, even more so than there was between GT3 and GT4 - the new Monaco, Costa di Amalfi, Grand Valley and that-long-snowbound-tarmac-track-from-GT4-who's-name-I-can't-remember :p all look beautiful :nana2: I might even have finished GT4 by the time the PS3 comes out :D
  23. True, I've read through the various past discussions. I'd have been happier to go for a Mongoose but they don't do the single-exit tailpipes that I want  Z-Centre's Scarab pipes are more the look I want but it seems like they don't have a mid-pipe section.
  24. Hi all, Have been thinking of replacing the old japanese exhaust on my car with a powerflow and was wondering if any who've done the same remember the sort of prices they go for? The Bournemouth dealer, which is a little out of my way, quoted £550 to £650 +vat, dependant on having a look at the car. I only asked them though as the closest one to me, in Southampton, asked for £800+ !!
