is my Zed 93 or 96? heeelp!
http://www.300zx.org.uk/model_variations.htm If it's 1996 it should have non-heated mirrors, no titanium key, and steel brake calipers (I think!)

What a t055er I've been..............
No Shrove Tuesday here - we're celebrating Yom Kippur - the day of atonement.

surely the log book (V5) shows the year of first registration in Japan?

Which Motorbike
The CBR600 has been sold in many forms since 1987. All of them (especially that latest 'RR' version) will go faster than an Aprilia RS125 in a straight line. An RS125 might hold of an older CBR600 on a tight road or circuit though as they do handle very well.

"We don't need no stinkin' badges"
Gentle heat (a tea towel dipped in near boiling water or a hair dryer on a warm setting) can soften the glue. Then peel off, then clean any residue with a powerful solvent (petrol, lighter fluid, meths, brake cleaner etc)

Zed of the year? photo competitions?
I'll have to give the old Nissan a wash and dust of the Box Brownie. Remember always compose in thirds, work all the angles and if you're not sure about the light level, bracket the bejeasus out of it.

Zed of the year? photo competitions?
If we're doing it for JAE, the deadline wouldn't need to be till near the time (say, the end of June). Natural light is much better once we're out of winter.

now a member
I think we're 'between membership secretaries' temporarily but I'm sure one of the clever lads will be along to sort you out soon. I think stickers are a possibility but a keyring may be something that you get when you enter your second year of payed membership.

i imagine you will all love this
They STILL won't 'les'.

Which Motorbike
Insurance could be a little steep on a ZX-9R, very nice though they are.
-
Which Motorbike
IIRC, insurance groups: GSXR600 - 14 GSXF600 - 11 VFR400R - 12 CBR600F - 12 SV650S - 10 ZZR600 - 12 RF600 - 12 RS250 - 12 If they're all too high, the unfaired SV650 (no S on the end) is group 9. Honda's NSR250 is group 11 but only a grey import and fragile - and getting old for a tuned two stroke! An old Yamaha TZR250 would be worth a look if you find a nice one but they're small.

Which Motorbike
Footman James and Carole Nash are generally very good for insurance.
-
Which Motorbike
Suzuki SV650S is insurance group 10 and quite sporty. Edit - if you use a dealer, Cupar MCs in Fife are great.

fitting fiamm airhorns
I think you should use the relay with heavier cable on the 'high power' side. The horn is probably not polar so +ve/-ve doesn't matter. (I think!)

Zed of the year? photo competitions?
SXOC do (?did) photo competitions. Put up a sticky thread with rules (no photoshopping etc), give people time to take / put their pics up on the thread then everyone votes for their favourite.

SWB vs LWB
SWB - no rear seats plus fuel filler cap in front of the wheel arch.
-
SWB vs LWB
The little version does accelerate quicker. It's allegedly less stable in high speed bends and harder to get some parts for. Still probably more desirable than the big version.
-
t-tops
Are all slick tops SWB? I've never seen a LWB slicktop.

the ultimate plate
Still want B19 5LAG. Saw it once but didn't stop them and offer money for it.

Been out with the camera...
Nice pics - car looking great too - that Cavalier green suits the Z really well.

My next op....
Excellent news - I hope it all goes well.
