Sell it for parts? - plenums, AFMs, TWOCCERS and all those things I don't understand. If you've got space you could keep it but to be honest, will you ever get it rebuilt? It'd cost a fortune. I'd sell the whole thing to a specialist breaker or fly tip it on the A1 with a few old jazz mags.

Hey - no shooting Vanilla Ice. In his film 'Cool as Ice' he did some very, very good wheelies on a GSXR1100 - not a stunt man. If I was looking, I'd go for the best engine I could get and not worry if it was auto or manual. Just my opinion! edit - Auto TT engine makes less peak power than manual TT but more power lower in the rev range. The autobox will sap a bit as well.

I have to say that is a NICE painting - a really good look for the car.

A car can be quicker with less peak bhp if it has a bigger midrange. It's the area under the graph, not the highest point. Unless you ride the arse off the clutch (not possible on an auto anyway). I think the auto TT may be 0.1 secs quicker over the standing quarter than a manual TT. Or it might be 0-100mph.

Lower power but better midrange for better acceleration. Probably!

Very little official information. Mike Feeny once told me he thought the '99 car was faster / more powerful (NA anyway - dunno about the TT).

A 1999 NA would go for around that - maybe a fraction more. He wouldn't get a fresh import but there are some already in the country. If he's after a UK TT it's not really the answer though!

I think the auto has different cams. It certainly has different turbos. I'm not 100% sure - one of the clever boys will be along soon I should think.

Those aftermarket warranties, as TMTTP says, aren't worth the paper they're printed on. More often than not a dealer will us the small print on them to get out of fixing a car (claims limits, what's not covered exclusions etc) which he should rectify due to the Sale of Goods Act, regardless of an aftermarket warranty. Your normal consumer rights far exceed most of these warranties. All car salesmen are professional liars. Well, 95%+ IMHO.

For that sort of money, you might get a genuine 1999 car (normaly aspirated, probably not twin turbo). The 1999 model had some pretty nice upgrades including a stifer chassis, cosmetics plus it'll probably be in better condition than an older car and much less of a gamble. If you can find one! edit- they're all imports so maybe not what you're after. To be honest, you'll get a beauty for £4-£5K so save the rest of your money just in case it needs work doing.

Agreed. A Clio 182 Sport will crucify a wobbly old Zed on knackered suspension.
