  1. welcome dave, glad you finally made it i guess you must have been one of the "awaiting confirmation" registrations that had got stuck in the system i emailed all 200 of you last night with the activation links, glad to see that they worked, at least for one of you for some reason, some of the activation mails did not get through possibly deleted as spam by isp's ? ignored by new users not knowing the procedure ? or incorrect email addresses ? who knows
  2. when/how did you pay ? if you have not had your status changed, its because i never received anything from you. the first thing i do when a cheque arrives is put the details onto my database, and then change the group membership. there was a period last year when some of my post went missing... a couple of people had to send again, and someone even sent thee times... if you sent a cheque, and it has been cashed, then it must have been the morning after a very heavy night before on my part for me not to register you properly and i dont drink

Jeff, i understand your reluctance to post previously, but had you done so and explained your side to the episode, then it would have been easier to moderate future posts. i'm a firm believer in 3 sides to a story, as Ajay does, and until you hear 2 sides and have the chance to work out your own middle ground opinion, then it is difficult to stamp out one side or the other. the childish antics of a lot of the forum members never ceases to amaze me, and if that were grounds to moderate people, then we would probably be a quieter forum than zclub... ;) now that both of you have offered your versions, then future references can edited and the curious can be told to search. same thing that happens on other old battles

depends whether they have dedicated hardware, professional hosting, legal software, no annoying banner ads, etc

but i cant imagine the people that have 3,4,5 or more aliases from pre-VBB and "forgotten password" accounts would want to pay more than once and the visitors from other forums have their own subscriptions to pay.... and people that have come and gone before subscriptions and vermin that deliberately come and cause trouble for no reason... and how else can i afford to retire ? :D
  6. well, i guess people found out Ajay had been made into a moderator.... actually, she has taken on a club admin role, and that was the easiest way to get her onto the admin/moderator discussion list. the club is moving forward, with people looking into affiliation, insurance, indemnity, and other club official/legal stuff once it is up and running properly, then members will be polled/voted for official club roles, but until then, it is discretionary. sorry if that offends anyone. we are also formalising the hosting/bandwidth agreement for the server with Mike, as we are constantly running over the "free" amount he has given us. the ideas put forward recently suggest that once the club is established, then a yearly meeting of members would be the best time to vote/elect, which would probably tie in with the Billing weekend... however, we must get to that point first, and this is the first step.
  7. very sorry to hear about Rachel, best wishes from us all (and the bump) you can book and/or turn up late at night/early morning for massively reduced prices on both ferry and chunnel, all the time i think very off-peak times

  9. at a dealer, this should cost you about 150 per side, including parts.
  10. roof rack is really doubtful... but i had a bike rack on before the oil filter is pretty standard on most nissan engines, so any dealer will have them in stock they might be stupidly vague if you have an import

glad you got it sorted now Bob. unless you click the link, or use the right subject, then you wont get the auto-reply it is set as an auto-respond as i only get to check my email a couple of times a day as i am out most of the time anyone else who has emailed me but not had a response is because their mail has the wrong subject, and it is mixed in with the 100 or so other emails per day i get, sorry

it might have been me, i was in that area a couple of years ago :D
  13. Steve-0 may only have a few posts, but he has been a member since april 2002. there are a lot of members that lurk, read and absorb. i have read 2 posts from you today, and they are both insulting long time members (senna and his skyline was the other post), members who you do not know, have never met i see you have only 30 or so posts at the moment, and you've been here since jan this year... hardly qualification to start putting yourself about climb down off your soapbox and calm down, as the knowledgeable people on here have very long memories for this sort of thing, and i am sure you will need their help long before they need yours

  15. you dont have to apologise thats what the forum is all about there is a lot of history on the board, and a lot of current members will have no idea of the things that have happened in the past it takes a new thread like this to bring it up from time to time, and give fresh views on the issues there is good and bad feedback on all companies, and people are all free to make their own minds up, but if you dont hear any bad about someone, then you could easily be mistaken for thinking a company have a 100% good record when they may not have
  16. for the record, a similar proposal was offered to johnny long before the new forum came along, and he wasnt interested, thought i was being out of order. i offered to act a group buy payment escrow service for the forum, so that he knew the money would be available and not have to chase people individually, and people would know that their money was safe until the products were ready to ship i offered to do this for a 1% commission that would help fund the site. this was about the same time as the breather kit deal came about also, at that time, i paid for my breather kit. however, mine was never ordered, and johnny even maintains that i had not paid. i supplied dates to trace the money which went by bank transfer, but nothing happened. i am in no way trying to dis-respect johnny or gps, as he has certainly done some good deals for people, without question, but there is more to our history than this, and it has been his choice to stay away. he has had my phone number provided a number of times, and he is just as capable of calling me as i am him, but he is obviously not too bothered about it. i dont know about some of you people, but the sun i recognise shines in the sky..... i suppose, what it comes down to, is that most people expect something for nothing there are people that are constantly offering deals and products, but cant even make the effort to join as a member now that to me shows what their real intentions are to the "community" from day one, i have had the community first, everything else second. i have had had to take legal advice on numerous occasions, and had to defend everyones right to speak their mind and protect freedom of speech i have a nice little collection of legal threats from various people, mostly companies that someone has complained about online when a person/company comes here trying to make money out of you all by plying their wares, then i do not think it unreasonable for them to AT LEAST become a member
  17. thanks for all the support and well wishing its what makes this place so great (most of the time  ) i'm not going anywhere, i'll still be looking in here as much as i do now, the place will tick along just great with the help of andyp, mikegroves et al. i will also try and make sure i get to billing for the weekend, because it sounds like it will be a weekend that i will have some hazy vague recollection of on the following monday morning.. :D and being a very small drinker, that will be after just one pint
  18. sold my car today. am very sad that its gone, but i'm sure its gone to a good home the new owner has certainly got a bargain, a very very good deal, but also knows that there is money that needs spending on it seeing someone else drive off in it is gutting loads of good memories are tied up with that car, and loads of good friends have been made thanks to it however, family comes first, and a fifth seat is needed very soon, so it was inevitable given current circumstances i will return to zed ownership one day......
  19. sorry people, been more out than in the last few weeks with imminent house move and baby arrival, things are being prioritised a little differently... anyone who sends a cheque to me gets changed to subscribed status the morning it arrives. if you have not had emails back about how to subscribe, then you did not put the correct subject on the email, as explained in the thread. if you had, then you would have gotten auto-replies within an hour. i trawled through my inbox the other day and sent the details out to 4 requests i found. many thanks andy for taking the reins.
  20. received in my inbox today long, but worth reading A WARMONGER EXPLAINS WAR TO A PEACENIK By Victor Forsythe Dedicated to the Love it or Leave it crowd PeaceNik: Why did you say we are we invading Iraq? WarMonger: We are invading Iraq because it is in violation of security council resolution 1441. A country cannot be allowed to violate security council resolutions. PN: But I thought many of our allies, including Israel, were in violation of more security council resolutions than Iraq. WM: It's not just about UN resolutions. The main point is that Iraq could have weapons of mass destruction, and the first sign of a smoking gun could well be a mushroom cloud over NY. PN: Mushroom cloud? But I thought the weapons inspectors said Iraq had no nuclear weapons. WM: Yes, but biological and chemical weapons are the issue. PN: But I thought Iraq did not have any long range missiles for attacking us or our allies with such weapons. WM: The risk is not Iraq directly attacking us, but rather terrorists networks that Iraq could sell the weapons to. PN: But coundn't virtually any country sell chemical or biological materials? We sold quite a bit to Iraq in the eighties ourselves, didn't we? WM: That's ancient history. Look, Saddam Hussein is an evil man that has an undeniable track record of repressing his own people since the early eighties. He gasses his enemies. Everyone agrees that he is a power- hungry lunatic murderer. PN: We sold chemical and biological materials to a power-hungry lunatic murderer? WM: The issue is not what we sold, but rather what Saddam did. He is the one that launched a pre-emptive first strike on Kuwait. PN: A pre-emptive first strike does sound bad. But didn't our ambassador to Iraq, April Gillespie, know about and green-light the invasion of Kuwait? WM: Let's deal with the present, shall we? As of today, Iraq could sell its biological and chemical weapons to Al Quaida. Osama BinLaden himself released an audio tape calling on Iraqis to suicide-attack us, proving a partnership between the two. PN: Osama Bin Laden? Wasn't the point of invading Afghanistan to kill him? WM: Actually, it's not 100% certain that it's really Osama Bin Laden on the tapes. But the lesson from the tape is the same: there could easily be a partnership between al-Qaida and Saddam Hussein unless we act. PN: Is this the same audio tape where Osama Bin Laden labels Saddam a secular infidel? WM: You're missing the point by just focusing on the tape. Powell presented a strong case against Iraq. PN: He did? WM: Yes, he showed satellite pictures of an Al Quaeda poison factory in Iraq. PN: But didn't that turn out to be a harmless shack in the part of Iraq controlled by the Kurdish opposition? WM: And a British intelligence report... PN: Didn't that turn out to be copied from an out-of-date graduate student paper? WM: And reports of mobile weapons labs... PN: Weren't those just artistic renderings? WM: And reports of Iraquis scuttling and hiding evidence from inspectors... PN: Wasn't that evidence contradicted by the chief weapons inspector, Hans Blix? WM: Yes, but there is plently of other hard evidence that cannot be revealed because it would compromise our security. PN: So there is no publicly available evidence of weapons of mass dectruction in Iraq? WM: The inspectors are not detectives, it's not their JOB to find evidence. You're missing the point. PN: So what is the point? WM: The main point is that we are invading Iraq because resolution 1441 threatened "severe consequences." If we do not act, the security council will become an irrelevant debating society. PN: So the main point is to uphold the rulings of the security council? WM: Absolutely. ...unless it rules against us. PN: And what if it does rule against us? WM: In that case, we must lead a coalition of the willing to invade Iraq. PN: Coalition of the willing? Who's that? WM: Britain, Turkey, Bulgaria, Spain, and Italy, for starters. PN: I thought Turkey refused to help us unless we gave them tens of billions of dollars. WM: Nevertheless, they may now be willing. PN: I thought public opinion in all those countries was against war. WM: Current public opinion is irrelevant. The majority expresses its will by electing leaders to make decisions. PN: So it's the decisions of leaders elected by the majority that is important? WM: Yes. PN: But George Bush wasn't elected by voters. He was selected by the U.S. Supreme C...- WM: I mean, we must support the decisions of our leaders, however they were elected, because they are acting in our best interest. This is about being a patriot. That's the bottom line. PN: So if we do not support the decisions of the president, we are not patriotic? WM: I never said that. PN: So what are you saying? Why are we invading Iraq? WM: As I said, because there is a chance that they have weapons of mass destruction that threaten us and our allies. PN: But the inspectors have not been able to find any such weapons. WM: Iraq is obviously hiding them. PN: You know this? How? WM: Because we know they had the weapons ten years ago, and they are still unaccounted for. PN: The weapons we sold them, you mean? WM: Precisely. PN: But I thought those biological and chemical weapons would degrade to an unusable state over ten years. WM: But there is a chance that some have not degraded. PN: So as long as there is even a small chance that such weapons exist, we must invade? WM: Exactly. PN: But North Korea actually has large amounts of usable chemical, biological, AND nuclear weapons, AND long range missiles that can reach the west coast AND it has expelled nuclear weapons inspectors, AND threatened to turn America into a sea of fire. WM: That's a diplomatic issue. PN: So why are we invading Iraq instead of using diplomacy? WM: Aren't you listening? We are invading Iraq because we cannot allow the inspections to drag on indefinitely. Iraq has been delaying, deceiving, and denying for over ten years, and inspections cost us tens of millions. PN: But I thought war would cost us tens of billions. WM: Yes, but this is not about money. This is about security. PN: But wouldn't a pre-emptive war against Iraq ignite radical Muslim sentiments against us, and decrease our security? WM: Possibly, but we must not allow the terrorists to change the way we live. Once we do that, the terrorists have already won. PN: So what is the purpose of the Department of Homeland Security, color-coded terror alerts, and the Patriot Act? Don't these change the way we live? WM: I thought you had questions about Iraq. PN: I do. Why are we invading Iraq? WM: For the last time, we are invading Iraq because the world has called on Saddam Hussein to disarm, and he has failed to do so. He must now face the consequences. PN: So, likewise, if the world called on us to do something, such as find a peaceful solution, we would have an obligation to listen? WM: By "world", I meant the United Nations. PN: So, we have an obligation to listen to the United Nations? WM: By "United Nations" I meant the Security Council. PN: So, we have an an obligation to listen to the Security Council? WM: I meant the majority of the Security Council. PN: So, we have an obligation to listen to the majority of the Security Council? WM: Well... there could be an unreasonable veto. PN: In which case? WM: In which case, we have an obligation to ignore the veto. PN: And if the majority of the Security Council does not support us at all? WM: Then we have an obligation to ignore the Security Council. PN: That makes no sense. WM: If you love Iraq so much, you should move there. Or maybe France, with the all the other cheese-eating surrender monkeys. It's time to boycott their wine and cheese, no doubt about that. PN: I give up!
  21. autoglass are the good guys when it comes to windscreens, i've had 3 replaced in my zed since i had it.... the trim that goes across the top is a dealer only part, which they use. i previously had two unsatisfactory replacements by silver shield, and they used a rubber strip that did not fit properly. when i mentioned it, they told me that everyone uses it... the last change was by autoglass and the guy already knew about the dealer part, and went out of his way to make sure he had it before coming to fit he complained about how it was a bitch to fit correctly though
  22. sorry guys, have been flat out bsy the last few weeks, hardly even looked at the forum. i dont think there is any problem with the script, as it hasnt changed, i think there is a permissions problem which i need to talk to mikegroves about.
