  1. can i just point something out here :D i drive my car hard, and it always wore tyres evenly UNTIL it started meeting other Z's in pubs and car parks, and feeling left out, decided to start wearing front tyres on the inside edge too.... a bit like a club requirement

yeah, i tried a few times, but soon got bored with it and tried email etc.... i did call TT, who did not have me on their list..... know why ? because despite me telling johnny exactly how and when i paid (when i ordered them, and some brake pads for next day delivery that didnt) he did not check, and maintained afterwards that i had not paid him for any of it. there does come a time when you decide to cut your losses... and considering that all around that time i was the only person that was sticking up for Warren while all else were making death threats and things against him, it kind of made sense why i was having trouble...... rightly or wrongly assumed... timmy, its just one of them things bud. some people have no problems, i have had. same with SE, same with TDI, same with loads of others.... mine just happens to be with GPS. i have a few other stories, like other people have stories about other companies, but i do not keep relaying them or slag off gps at any opportunity, because to me, it just does not really matter any more... i just thought that with some help offered from the respected man in the middle, it might be resolved, but as i said, even after providing exact dates and amonts, still nothing happens.... which i think surpised him more than me
  3. as you are down south, then Darren is the best mechanic, PERIOD, for you. this quote taken from a Conzult thread i have known/used him for 2-3 years, and many other use him too. i will have to let someone else give you the number though, as i lost it.. ! doh ! (washing machines and bits of paper do not mix..) i think he is currently sorting out a new dealership in maidstone, but also has own workshops where Z's are the only entrants... apart from the odd 200 ;)

i have phoned and phoned and phoned, and never got through. (sound familiar?) i have emailed and emailed and emailed, and never had a reply or got a bounced mail.(sound familiar?) i have been dealing with a middle man who thought it was sorted, and still nothing. no fault of theirs i might add. after being asked for proof of payment, and then providing it, and still no joy, what else should i do ? if it had been in the thousands of quid, then yes timmy, i would have chased more, but for 100 quid.... i used it as a lesson to teach myself about professionalism, customer service, accountancy and running a business.... if you want to stand toe-to-toe with me about this then feel free timmy, but its not your fight, and you are in the losing corner this time

why use the credit note ? why not get a refund instead ? i wonder how much interest i could have earned on my 100 quid so far.... anyone care to work out 14 months interest for me please ? normal bank rates are fine.... bitter ? nah, i'm a bud man !
  6. firstly, i didnt complain at all, Gio mentioned it. secondly, i said that the subscribed members ought to help decide what happens on the forums, as they paid for it, but they dont.... check the number of replies on the vote thread. thirdly, Marc lives round the corner to me, and Warren had already told me about the accident and that Marc was okay. fourthly, if Marc was not okay, the last thing he would have put in his 1st post was "intercoolers for sale" but, lets not be picky about it :D :D
  7. once you have posted, edit the post, and it allows you to upload another pic, then edit it again..... etc.

you want something a bit like the shops use... if you break it, then you have bought it. When they arrange to visit, ask them to bring their insurance along for you to see that they are insured 3rd party at least to cover yourself as described earlier.
  9. you subscribe for the community spirit and general chat you dont have to subscribe for Z help and advice sorry, couldnt resist that either :D
  10. ???

when it was started, it was on a bad free service. then it moved to my own equipment, but hosting and bandwidth was free, because it was with my employer i left them over a year ago, and the site has only just moved on.... if you read some of the many posts i have made, you will know i was NEVER in it for the money, the idea is to keep the forum here ad infinitum, funded by itself and see above, it could not have stayed as it was as i said, it was nothing for nothing, because it cost nothing to keep it there, now it doesnt.... the site moves a lot of data, and that does cost, fact of life. you tell me how we can strike a balance between those that help to keep the server here, and those that decline... what extra value should the subscribers give to the non subscribers ?
  11. doesnt make the job any less dangerous though.. anyone know the stats for armed services personnel over the same period ? excluding the "friendly fire" casualties the "government" takes the p!ss out of everyone indiscriminately... nurses, firefighters, forces, motorists, tax payers... :D
  12. looks like (another) one of those instances where the "subscribed" members should all decide on which forums can be posted by "non-subscribed" members etc.... might have to start a voting thread in the member area
  13. that should read :- Most of the idiots on any car board think their cars are the best on the planet... because people on our board are no different to people on any other board when it comes to pride and favouritism towards their own car
  14. anyone who takes strike action could possibly be putting lives at risk, regardless of vocation a surgeon who chooses not to operate, is that not a strike against the patient ? when the tube drivers strike, that puts lives at risk... there are more cars on the road, more pedestrians, more cyclists/motorcyclists and more people trying to cram onto buses makes london more hazardous when the binmen went on strike, that put peoples lives at risk when the miners went on strike, all those people that relied on fossil fuel for heating homes.. especially old people.. risking lives ? what about the fuel strike last year ? ambulances and fire engines without fuel.... lives at risk ? i'm not having a go at you personally kinace, these are my opinions... what other action would you suggest they take ? if every other type of action produced no results, what next ? if the firefighters left their jobs en masse to find better paid ones if the strike fails... how long until we have a fully trained and fully manned fire service again ? more lives at risk ? for leaving a job because they cant afford to live on those wages ? there is no final solution, and no right or wrong
  15. in the armed services, if you are on active duty, then all board and lodgings are provided for you, however long the active period is for ? no mortgage or rent to pay, no food to buy, no utility bills... you only pay when you are back in barracks or whatever ? when you are in the forces, generally you have to live where you are stationed ? do you have a choice about that ? when you are in the forces, you do not have a daily commute to work, unless you choose to live outside of the provided accomodation ? if public service employees lived and worked in an area where the cost of living was reflected in their wages, then London would be a dangerous place to live, with no public services at all....
  16. that would be XKR, not XK8, if you couldnt get away. i am running about 12psi, and lost about 2 car lengths up to a ton but the convertible XKR is even match due to the weight. dead even on a scooby type RA recently too
  17. only if you click the box to enable email notification when you post on a thread.. ;)
  18. the ECU should provide more fuel where needed to support the higher boost level you are achieving. however, until you get to +14psi, then an upgraded ECU is not completely necessary, just a safeguard. I have been running up to 1 bar boost for over 2 years now on stock ecu, with no detonation or problems. I just make sure i know what octane i have put in and what the outside air temperature is when i put my foot down in fun as long as you are aware of when you need to be careful
  19. James, some people do a job for the job itself, not for the money, but the money is still important. All of the public services (fire, police, ambulance, nurses) are underpaid. If noone took the jobs because the money was bad, we would have none of these people to save our lives. There is no way you can buy a house or flat, especially in london, on the wages of those jobs. Therefore they have to move out of the area just to live. Then, whats the point of commuting into london for that sort of money, when you can do an identical job in the town you have moved to ? If you are in a well paid industry, then you dont understand what its like at the lower end of the pay scale. Especially in and around London. These are people with familes and dependants, working with great responsibility and purpose, for the sort of salary i was earning when i first started in IT, and when i had no house to pay for, let alone wife and kids to support. Successive governments (they are all to blame) have cut back too much where it matters, rather than addressing where all of the money really goes to. Too many scroungers, freeloaders and fraudsters draining the money that should go to these services. And to many other "focus groups" and "organisations" that get funded in mistaken political correctness and ethnic minorities that should fund themselves like most of the more important charities have to. imho
  20. if on a budget then jets are adequate, but controller is best. jets will give you spiking and an approximate level of boost, but controller will be spot on (-ish) and much safer/reliable
  21. just got today's post, and its not in there. :( that must be 4 or 5 that have gone missing over the last few months.
  22. vijay, many thanks for your help in this... :D i think Dorset use AON for their club policy, from what i remember of the emails i swapped with them.
  23. now that i've been using my road angel for a few months, i really like it :D i have only found 1 camera that wasnt in the database i can silence it temporarily when it starts beeping for a camera it also has known accident blackspots in.. this started to get on my nerves to start with, as you see the warning, see its "just a blackspot" not a camera, and ignore it... but when you look at the road, you see why it has been included, and makes you a lot more aware :D apart from its size, i think it is the dogs danglies, and combined with my jammer.....
  24. heh... jay, got no problem with you, your forum, etc, etc. more resources for the Z can only be good, as people have pointed out. some of your arguments about why dont really stack up, but i'm not going to argue with you over them. the spam mailing forum members was a bit off though, from any point of view, noone likes that sort of thing really. feedback suggests that you dont like the fact that there is a subscription required for the "social" aspect of the forum, and thats why you have done your own thing, fair enough but, i'm sure your own thing costs more than 20 quid.. and if you are hosted on a shared server at an isp, with a finite amount of webspace and transfer allowance, then you will quickly find that a (busy) forum will incur a lot more costs than you have bargained for in the short term the subscriptions for here have paid for a new server dedicated for this forum, and is hosted with very generous bandwidth allowances, to make sure that it does not grind to a halt like the previous hardware/software combo this sort of performance costs money, which is what the subscribers have paid for. the people with businesses that benefit from the members have somewhere which costs them far less than an ongoing magazine advert, and is focused towards a group that know their products and appreciate their knowledge you point out yourself that speed costs money, and you will sort that out when you get more members... as you are selling a product, you will no doubt use that money to help fund your site development. i dont have a commercial enterprise based around the Z to fund the forum, as thats not what i set the site up for. as you said before, its not about being competitors, its about providing a service and resources, but there are better ways of making yourself known.. ;)
