  1. ....that is the question." My Zed will be 11 next month - should I give her a 'T' party? Any strong views?
  2. I read a lot about people thrashing their turbos --- whereas, me, I never do things like that.:) :) Honestly, officer, I was barely going above 45. Or, at least, you won't catch me doing things like that......... But, sure, back off a while before stopping rather than trust to electronic gimmick.
  3. From here: http://www.chimera.co.nz/300zx/ I followed a link and found these: http://www.zheaven.com/Labree/bbtest1.wav http://www.zheaven.com/Labree/bbtest4.wav http://www.zheaven.com/Labree/labreetest1.wav http://www.zheaven.com/Labree/labreetest3.wav http://www.zheaven.com/Labree/labreerev.mpg (This runs better from hard drive) :D :D :D :D :D (If somebody will explain how upgrade my membership, mebbe I could post attachments.)
  4. That's sounds ok, considering you'd not done it b4. So no need to lift the engine up then?
  5. £92.00 inc v.a.t and postage from here: http://www.sensetuning.co.uk/products.php?make=Nissan&type=Induction Or see http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2424519118&category=36680 and http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2425489581&category=36680 See review at http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/ where the kits featured on eBay are not mentioned not can I find any review anywhere. The kits there are suspiciously cheap.....or bargains. Not risking MY engine......;)
  6. Just a small point but you'll find it easier to work if you uncross your fingers:D :D :D :D :D
  7. I found this while browsing http://www.300zx-twinturbo.com/oops/Default.htm How could anyone allow that to happen?? I'm so upset that I'll haveto lie down in a darkened room.
  8. Ah yes, that kind of forces your hand. I'm interested to know you get on as that's the only one not yet done on my car; that's mainly because Luke ain't sent it yet.:p
  9. I've been told that you need to lift the engine up a little to allow bush removal and fit. So, yes a b****r of a job. You going to fit polyurethane bushes? Advice given to me was to wait 'til the turbo needs changing.
  10. Thanks for that. Since I wrote I found this site: http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/ and Apexi is the clear winner.
  11. Assuming that the gremlin in my motor can be sorted - soon, please  I'll change the induction; anything to choose between what's available? Anyone used the Max Power Kit? thnx btw fully comp ins £302; mind you I am over 40, er 50....oh, alright over 60 but only a little bit.:D
  12. I'm following this with interest as mine is showing similar symptoms. Fires perfectly one day then not next. Never died when up and running. Tried almost everything but intermittent faults are the very devil to sort. Been taken to a local auto-electrician three times and it always works when it gets there. It will not fire now so it's going back........ Yeah, a REALLY useful post.........but u r not alone. That sure is a lot of money you've spent. Just had polyurethane bushes fitted f&r but dunno whether they've made any difference.
  13. Thanks for that. I have noticed some shake at some speeds even after recent wheel balance and a bit of juddering under heavy(ish) braking. I see that the whole set is £155 plus vat and carr from Z Centre. The rear suspension is off the car now; the existing bushes are ok but it might be a good idea to change them anyway. (While I'm ordering, might as well get the short-throw gear shift...)
  14. Anyone tried the polyurethane bushes, particularly in the front? Are they worth fitting before the old ones are kaput?
  15. Hmm, mebbe I should scrap that plan and go for glass fibre unit featured on ZCentre.
  16. Red Zed's the bizness with stick, natch. I paid £5000 for a garage to house her but cannot bear to hide the beauty away. "Nobody will take resposibility for anything these days. But don't quote me on that."
  17. The paint's bubbled in part and the composition underneath has crumbled. Bought whole boot lid in blue last year, way before I found this BB, intending to have it swopped and repainted. Might simpler = cheaper if someone could help me with a red spoiler??
  18. Mebbe the next I get will be Jap (+ leather)
  19. erk! That's cheap. Maybe yours was not as rusty as mine?
  20. Yikes! Fair puts my problem in the shade.  Twisted head? burned rings? Big-ends run?
  21. Andy Z, I'll tell you they're not good cars......... Damn well GREAT cars! Name another car anywhere near its price, double its price and more, that you could walk around and just love every angle. Pussycat to drive and a blast whenever you want.
  22. Better, look for stick shift + FSH. Regular oil changes vital. See any car started from cold, look at oil pressure and vacuum.
  23. Ho hum, need to get the hang of the line breaks. TT Tim - us older guys DO know better! What's mods done to your insurance?
  24. Not front end prob. Followed Andy P link and found v. helpful gent (whose name I omitted to get) at Zedworld who suggested going thro' boot from ABS unit and making additional holes as needed. Taken car back to local man who'll do that. Thanks to all. My black despair has now turned to red hope. (I had a garage specially built to house a new Cougar but bought the Zed instead: it's never been in the garage as it's too good to hide away.) Of course, if the original purchaser had had it undersealed then I would'nt have these problems now.
  25. Thanx for that. Will investigate.
