Re timing query (problem solved)
:hyper: Hi guys Found out why Conzult was saying 25deg btdc and timing light showed 15deg btdc. Back in August i did a compleate 60k service on the car (timing belt etc) turns out i got the belt alingment wrong (winner of pregnant fish award). when i checked the belt this weekend it was a tooth out, thankfully no aparent damage has been done. Strange thing is i never noticed any difference in performance but it could have been there were a few things needing replaced at the 60k service that masked the fault, would have been oblivious to the fault if i had not checked the car with conZult. (cheers Eric)

For those who Sprint run their Zeds
Interesting, that final drive ratio has the potential for some blinding 1/4 mile times provided you can " get the power down". Have you got plans to import the kit.

timing query
thanks for the replies guys, just to make things a bit more helpfull in the diagnosis, the timing was taken from No1 cyl with HT lead connected. the idle speed was 800rpm. tps voltage reads 0.4 volts. hard idle switch is closed. coolant temp is at 80c. please keep the ideas comming as Jeff says it would be nice to get a definitive answer, its interesting that it has been seen on other Z's. i have tried a different ECU but it is still the same i have another cas to try so i'll let you guys know tommorow if this shows any difference.

timing query
anyone seen this before? ignition timing set to 15btdc with timing light. check on conzult and it reads 25btdc at same rpm. checked out anoither Z and it was 15btdc on both timing light and conzult at same rpm is this a sign of the cas being at fault?.

ECU Upgrades before boost controller??!!
I think the ecu comes first, if you increase the boost you are increasing the A/F ratio so i reckon you need the ecu with modified fueling / airflow maps to cope with the increase in boost pressure.

Scottish members
I live up in Aberdeen, would be interested in meeting up with other Z owners, would prefer to meet at an event though as Moffat is a 6 hour round trip for me. the only place that springs to mind is crail but i'am sure there would be some other event/show on the calander we could meet at.

Redline Ultimate Scottish Street Car
While you guys were at Santa pod we also had a Ultimate street car event at Crail in Scotland, which was run by Redline magazine.(should be featured next months edition) Was the only 300zx competing but managed to make the final shoot-out by setting the 5th fastest time in rear wheel drive class. RT 0.738 60ft 2.29 TV 109.8mph ET 13.566 Could have maybe went better but it was foggy and damp. Would like thank Eric & Danny from DTN motorsport for providing Skyline beating ECU engine management which enabled me to make the finals. Still haven't beaten my personal best time of 13.343 but there are a `few more events still to come - here's hoping.

TOTB List, no zeds...
yes currently running a "safe" chip but Eric is fine tuning one for use on the 8th Aug (see previous post) and going by the current map it should be a blinder, was running a Mines ecu before but it did not perform as good as the DTA chip does previous times on the drag strip have proven this. Ed

TOTB List, no zeds...
Still in the process of tuning the bus, was hoping to make it this year but not quite ready, trying to get into the high 12's for ultimate street car Scotland on 8th Aug @ crail with some help from DTA Motorsport and Wallace performance up here in Aberdeen who will have an all singing dancing rolling road up and running later this month, should make easing that elusive extra tenths out of the motor a bit easier. will defo be flying the 300 flag next year at TOTB though and dont care about winning just to put a respectable time. by the way watch out for Keith Cowie with his R32 Skylark (mates brother) the car is just back from the tuning shop by all accounts it is going to redefine the word awsome!. Ed Davies 13.343 1/4 so far (June) started in April with a 15.6--- on target so far

1/4 mile result
Hi Jaffa nice one have'nt tried losing a coilpack yet your motor must be well quick on 6 cyl, mods are ecu map from Eric at DTA Motorsport, AVCR set for 15psi, set of HKS racing dump vv's, Rps billet flywheel & sport clutch decat exhaust. going for a 100 shot of nitrous next time out (4th july) the tmes of the other runs are on the crail raceway website. on a mission to prove the Z32 is no lardass (as quoted on a skyline forum)

1/4 mile result
:hyper: Took the old bus up the drag strip yesterday (Crail Scotland) messed up the launch a bit ( to much wheelspin ) 0 - 60 ft time 2.357 sec ET 13.343 sec @ 110.6 mph. Next weekend should be quicker once i get new gear shift bushes, gear leaver feels like i'am stiring a bowl of soup. on a mission to prove the Z32 is no lardass (as quoted on a skyline forum)

Anyone know owt about Jags?
Hi bud I think you will find there is a straight six as well as the v6 it is based on the AJ16 engine they ceased production in 97 cracking motor by the way great fun to drive. There is a problem with the v8 engine cars (early ones) up to Sept 2000 the nikasil plating on the cylinder bores is corroded by the sulpher content present in fuel, when this happens you have engine failure!. the cars affected are :- vin numbers xj8 from 812256 to 878717 inclusive. most of the affected cars have been delt with (new engine free of charge). so if buying an early modell check that it has a history and has been looked at by Jaguar. hope this info does not put you off the jags as they are great cars (i have 2) hope this is some help to you when looking for one. ed davies
