  1. The single exhaust still sounds "v" if that makes sense, but it just sounds a bit tinny at higher revs. Skirts and front bumper to go on and be repaired respectively. Car will be resprayed, not 100% decided on what colour/style at the moment though.
  2. Sure that's true? I've heard that storey (or similar) before...............on more than one occasion over the years.
  3. I did indeed get the skirts............... Will probably put them back on relatively soon :D
  4. I was going to get the parts needed to make the camber fully adjustable, and maybe even stretch to coilovers to. Definately going to ditch the HICAS though.
  5. Thanks Stu, took me about 4 hours to clean them, fit the subframes (I had to cut some bolts down to fit) and them fit them into the car. No big problems, just lots of little things, the main one being the recaro sub frames having no captive nut to bolt the seat belt ancor to and the bolt being a weird thread making it almost impossible to fine a nut that fitted, but good old dad had a couple knocking about in a bit's tin :) Was good to see you all last night, and to get a better look at yours and Pauls cars
  6. As far as the suspension goes, the front top mounts appear to be made of machined metal, possibly ali, i don't think they are standard so who knows what may be lurking there. I think the ride is just right as it is TBH, could do with dropping down a bit, I can put my fist in between the wheel and the arch.........
  7. I actually like the front bumper so it'll be getting repaired, each to their own though. I have been making use of the search facility, found out loads of stuff which has been useful already.
  8. other plans? mostly suspension stuff to begin with, the body work I'm going to do myself over time, few performance mods, need to ditch the single exit exhaust though. As awesome as it was through the Dartford Tunnel, my head was starting to hurt by the time I got home. A nice twin exit, with a deep rumble i think would go down a treat.
  9. Picked it up yesterday, drove it back to Essex in the pouring rain (no leaks, just a couple of small sideways moments) and I'm LOVING it!! Spent today after work redoing the front seats, there is some other changes I want to make, little bits that need attention asap (nothing major) but I wanted a "project car" First thing will be a good clean, inside and out, then I'll start with the little jobs that need doing, get the underside, wheel arches scrubbed and sealed for the winter then I think the suspension may receive some attention........... Well here she is, Big thanks to Chris for his time, advice and car ;) Original interior: New interior:
  10. Due to other commitments, i didn't get there till late and only really to pick some seats up off of Stu who stayed late just for me so Thanks for that, really appreciated it. (also only a couple of people had to see me turn up in my dads rover) Can't wait till next month, I'll have my 300, the seats in and maybe some other stuff done, who knows? time will tell..........
  11. What wheels are they? any pics? you may get away with rolling and stretching the arch slightly, it's a common thing to do in Japan and the VW world, it's quite expensive about £120 per arch depending where you go.
  12. If its just a screw can you not modify it some how or remove it? If you take the liner out, road dirt and water will get flung up into all the recess you never knew about let alone clean out, and this time next year after 1 winter you'll have a rotten car. My advise is to sort it properly and modify the fixings somehow.
  13. Sold the GT4 today, Picking my Zed up on Tuesday :D proper excited, got all these plans and madness running riot in my head, just got to wait for my cash flow to catch up lol
  14. Decent tires, defo, seems silly and i left them off the list as i thought it to be obvious, but thinking about how many cars I've seen with £k's spent on them and then the cheapest "ditch finder" tyres is quite a few. I'm no race driver, done a few track days, and had a little bit of tuition and you're right, it's amazing how much you can learn from it. As for spring rates, thats something i did forget, the SWB is about 200kg's lighter? plus i'll be lightening it a bit more (nothing too drastic though) so thats something to add to the list :D
  15. Just like to add that it'd do you good to have a quick look round it before you drive it, because although it is not illegal to drive it to a pre booked MOT, you can still be prosecuted if it is in an unroadworthy condition. Sounds a bit backwards but having a bald tyre(s). lights out, brakes not working very well etc will get you done. If the car appears to be roadworthy and you come across as not very mechanically minded, the cops will let you go on your way if there is nothing blatantly obvious to tell you you shouldn't be driving it on a public road.
  16. I've just had the same dilemma with my four, the out come? i can always get another four, you can always get another 300. I have over the years owned and driven so many different cars, not all performance ones either, and I've loved them all for different reasons. I say go out into the world and experience something different.
  17. It was ford RS yellow, trust me the pictures don't do it justice, it actually seemed to glow at dusk. It does look and seem wrong but in the flesh it was awesome :D
  18. Mitsubishi starion 2.0ltr widebody, wicked drifty fun, 220bhp and fully adjustable suspension, uprated brakes, Got rid of it due to rust :(
  19. Sorted, found his number else where on the forum :)
  20. Just paid up My membership, but have to wait for my account to activated. I want to take Yassa's recaro seats off of him but can't post on the thread yet or PM him so if someone has a number for him or can let him know i'd really appreciate it :) http://www.300zx.co.uk/
  21. Ah I get you, As I've never been under a 300 to see what's what (seen a few sketchy photos) wasn't sure what you meant but make perfect sense now, Cheers buddy!
  22. So add: Polyurethane bushes in the rear Polyurethane bushes in the steering rack Alignment (obviously) to: Hicas removal Rear camber arms Front camber arms Coil overs Uprated anti roll bars REAR strut brace What's this about "Subframe spacers"? i get the principle, but more info to help my understanding would be cool :) As you may have guessed my head has a plan lol...........
  23. I actually prefer a firm ride, as long as it doesn't skip across the road. From this set up I can loose the weight/complication of the hicas, set the ride quality/height how I like it and be able to adjust the camber for grip etc will I not? I'm not really 100% sure of the set up on the 300, but from what I found using the search function, this would give me the ride/handling options I'm after and be able to adjust pretty much everything?
  24. What he said, get a proper bit of hose for sure, better safe than sorry. The oil may even eat through that silicon stuff and render it useless with out you even knowing till its too late.
  25. Just wondering what is the best way to go to get a SWB 300tt handling better suspension wise? My thoughts from what I have found on the forum are: Hicas removal Rear camber arms Front camber arms Coil overs Uprated anti roll bars Front strut brace What about rear upper traction arms?, front adjustable tension rods? rear strut brace? Anything else to add?
