i thought everyone was going to take the piss but thanks guys. so could anyone give me an estimate on good traction control? i think i have continental tyres, are they bad? whats a good brand. cheers guys

no funny comments..... i am really distrubed and need serious feed back. let me set the picture its was 2am and i had dropped this girl i was seeing home. i was driving back when i noticed a red fiesta with turbo zooming around. at first i took no notice but then i pulled up to a set of traffic lights and guess what? it was there. he strated reving away indicated he wanted a race. i intially thought theres no point but then then my 3litre twin turbo got the better of me. the lights turned orange and he started to edge then they turned green and the race began. i had my foot halfway down on the pedal, my turbo was kicking in, so was his. we were neck and neck for the first 4 to 5 seconds and then the road infront of me converged into one. i moved into the other lane, there was no oncoming traffic we had only been racing for about 6 seconds. its at this point disaster struck. i got agitated at being neck and neck with this car, i decided to finally show him the real power. i put my foot down completely on the pedal the car paused for a millisecond and the engine roared like a lion i knew i would leave him standing but guess what......... my engined roared like a beast my back wheels just started to spin out of control and my car ended up sideways. the fiesta just speed of and that was it. the road wasnt wet but wasnt dry either. my tyres are new and this is the second time this has happened. why?????? is ist just cause of the huge power of the car? is there a fault? i have head that other 300zx do this kind of stuff on occasions? how should i have handled the situation? please give me some constructive advice. i just glad i didn`t crash. p.s. just to clarify, i wasn`t really beaten i just ended up sideways!!!!!!!!!!

in reply to your message i should let you know that i have just had some work done on my car from zedworld. jeff, is a really nice guy. he knows what he is doing and also this is not his main job. the reason i mentioned that is becasue he obviously enjoys working on the cars.Z`s are costly so if your going top spend money than give it to someone who enjoys working on them and knows what he is doing. ravi p.s. good luck:)

hi iam thinking of servicing my newly bought 300zx. i am based in coventry and was wondering if somebody could recommend a good person for the job. it would be great if the mechanic can sort out a few minor problem for minimal cost and explain some questions that i may have. i dont mind travelling as long as the person is reliable. cheers p.s. how much does the average service cost?

hi i am back with a more questions but this time it sounds a bit stupid. anyway, i`m sure you have all heard the warning sound when you have turned your ignition off but left your lights on!!!!! well the problem is that the last few times i have been driving on the motorway i have at almost regular intervals heard a similar sound but at a low volume. i have no idea what is causing it it but i`m hoping someone can tell me what it is. cheers p.s. it comes and goes and i have no idea what starts it. i have to turn the music down to hear it. p.s.s any idea where i can get cheap leathers for my car

hi. i am a newcomer to this site i have posted up a few problems and recieved good advice. however like most virgins i am back with more questions. 1. i asked before about a stiff smell of petrol when i started the car it is most promenent when the air con is switched on. i was told that it was due to the blitz dump valves!!! is that possible?I have been told by a member of this site to have the feul lines checked. are there any other possibilities? does anyone have the same problem 2. what is the best engine oil to use? p.s. my car is a twin turbo. 3. my electric clock always shows the wrong time, even after many corrections. why? 4. how or who can tell me if my engine and its components have been UP-RATED? this is so i can put my foot down without having to worry about blowing things up!!!!!!!! thanks guys and keep up the good work p.s. any meets soon. i`d like to attend my first one.

hi. i have just bought a 300zx and am having the time of my life. although i bought my car with a bodykit i still want to make some more changes. i have been looking at the website for the Z centre (http://www.zcentre.co.uk) and although they have a good range of stuff they are pricey. could any off you wise men give me other links for mods for my car cheers.

thanks for the speedy reply. 1. i have checked the gadget by my knee. it say Greddy on it. it also has a small button called overtake boost. which when pressed counts down from ten, although nothing interesting happens when it reaches zero apart from a beep. so does this help you to determine what it is and how i can use it effectively. the current setting is 0 although sometimes it reads 1!!!!!!! 2. i have checked the dump valves. the are Blitz. does that help? if i had i feul leak how difficult if it to get sorted. i have noticed that if i fill up the tank and drive around for a few days (5/6 days) at normal speeds and fewer than 200 miles i reach empty. is that related or is that normal for a 3 litre car. thanks again

hi, i have just bought an imported 300zx twin turbo automatic. and i am having the time of my life. however, as with all good things i`m not sure of certain things. i was hoping that you could help answer my questions. i almost feel like a virgin!!!! 1. the cruise control on my car doesn`t work. many people with Twin turbos have said that this is a good thing as the cruise control usually ruins the turbos. what is the truth? should i get it sorted? 2. when i switch on the car i am supposed to have a light which reads HICAS that is supposed to come on temporarly like the brake light etc. this is not the case? what could be wrong and how important is it to get fixed. a mechanic has told me that my 4 wheel steer is working despite no HICAS light! 3. by my left knee i have two gadgets. one keeps the engine running when the car is switched off for a set period of time to allow the turbos / engine to cool (i think) and i have no idea what the second gadget is. when i bought the car i was told that it was a turbo timer or something to that effect. it has a little knob which when turned changes the reading from 0 through to 14 (0, 0.1, 0.2....1, 1.2... etc) what is the function of this? what should it be set on? how do i use it? 4. sometimes when i switch on the car, which by the way purrs like a cat, i get a very strong smell of petrol. i phoned the guy from whom i bought the car and he said not to worry because this was due to the dump valves! (the car is an automatic) it does make the characteristic dump valve nosie when the car is accelerating and changing gears. should i be worried about the smell? and is it possible for an automatic to have dump valves or something imitating dump valves? i think that is it for now. i hope to become a member of the 300zx community and enjoy the pleasure of coming to meets etc etc. i am sorry that this message is long but like most virgins, i am full of questions and emotions. thanks
