Anyone been to www.turbosport.net ?
Well it was 1200 or thereabouts with the standard turbos and their 350 each so the labour is about £500 I guess. They did say that they'll need it for 4 days. I wanted to go to stage 2, but they told me that with a standard engine, ie. no steel rods etc. I am asking for trouble and also I would have too much lag, so much that it'd be slower! Is this right?

well thats fooked it?
Hi Tony, Feel for you mate. I have had nothing but a bad run of luck with my car, one job after another non-stop, so I know what its like to be in the doghouse with these cars, although, theres ALWAYS someone worse off, no matter how bad things seem. But like you say, chin up as new turbos will be fitted soon and hopefully I will have at least 3 months of trouble free driving.... not counting my chickens though...... best of luck mate.....;)

Anyone been to www.turbosport.net ?
Well, the guy said that the stage 1 turbo conversion in cludes 360 degree thrust bearing and stronger internals. I know it doesn't make the car faster but I dont want to make it any quicker anyhows, I just want something more robust than the standard turbo when running more boost pressure. And the factt hat the stage 1 is only £200 more than the standard. These guys have been doing 300's for years apparently and have developed special tools to do thje jobb which enables them to change the turbos without taking the engine out? I thought this wasnt possible but they assure me that it is and even offer a 1 year guarantee if anything goes wrong! I was pointed in their direction by Jeff TT and when I spoke to Mark @ Turbo Sport he advised that Jeff has sent a few cars there and he has never had any complaints. I must admit, VMTP in Birmingham which Jeff advised were very good for Gearbox work..... I am surprsied I havent had anyone say they've ben there on this forum!!

I have managed to find a very reasonably priced stage 1 turbo fitting shop for the Nissan 300ZX. I was going to have a go myself but because the price is so good, I am taking my car to them? £1475 inc fitting for Stage 1 hybrids!!!1 I think this is brilliant!!! Anyone else used them previously??:D

My Z wont start!!!, help!!!
This is all before my turbo probs (although still does it now) I have a very similar problem to this. When my car is cold, its starts but then put-puts then dies, I can do this for 5-10mins and then it feels as though the car has finally got a grip on the idle speed. If I try and hold the throttle down fully when starting it revs high once then dies down totally. I alsi find it worse if I try to use the throttle to start, ie. if I try to keep the revs up by pressing the accelerator, then it takes longer in the end to get going. Ie. now 15mins...... it seems to me as though the car is over fuelling as when you press the accelerator more fuel and air is passed in but it causes the car to die down quicker. Jeff TT has set the car up on the Conzult and he says everything is where it should be, although he has never had it on the conzult when its been playing up!!!! The times when I have took it to him its been fine!!!! Sorry to jump on this post but any thoughts would be appreciated as the engine is coming out anyway. For the record, I have changed the two valve thingeys on the back of the plenums chambers that sit in the fuel line......I think their some sort of diaphram operated thingies...

boost & ecu upgrade advise please
Hi Paul, I agree, but it diddnt help.......;) I think your right, they were probably on their way out anyway but theres no way of telling this from new. Like Tim said, if this guy starts upping boost on a 130,000 car. the odds are stacked against him in regards to keeping his wallet packed with paper....I thiknk we'd all agree on this....:)
-
boost & ecu upgrade advise please
Damn, cant edit posts, 2nd reason should say "I knew I wouldn't have to pay out for a new engine with simple mods (in theory)." You know what I mean.... ;) And I would say that upping the boost on my car definately helped the old turbos to fail....or in other words, diddnt help the longevity....
-
boost & ecu upgrade advise please
I must say that the only reason that I decided to tune mine slightly was: 1) I knew the car had a new engine at 104,000 miles for £7500 2) I knew I would have to pay out for a new engine with simple mods (in theory). I aggree with Tim, tuning an high milage car without the wallet ready is asking for trouble, IMO. Take it from someone who has learnt..........:o

**engine Removal Advice Plz**
Right, it looks like due to the cost of a garage to remove the engine and supply turbos (£1700 on average) I am going to have to remove the engine myself and fit them. I have managed o locate a lock up which I can rent out for a month only, is this long enough? What advice can anyone give me? I have fitted a turbo on a CVH and also done several CVH (escort turbo) engine removals and refits so I know a thing or two about engine removal. All advise would be appreciated, also is there anything I might as well do whilst the engine is out apart from check for obvious oil leaks (the engine sounds sweet). Thanks again guys. Mark (The Worlds unluckiest 300ZX owner):(

Chapter 7:Turbo problems I think???
CRAP!! So unless I fit them myself, I am looking at £100 minimum!!! I diddnt realise turbos were this much to replace, not many people talk about them much on here! I take it it isnt that common a problem.

Chapter 7:Turbo problems I think???
DOH!!! How much would he charge to fit?

boost & ecu upgrade advise please
Hi, Not to put you off or anything but I have had my car about 2 months, 300zx UK TT 144,000miles, 42,000miles on new lump. Chipped it one month ago and turned the boost up (JWT CHIP), I have since had a bill for £520 for a new gearbox oil pump and torque convertor and now I need two new turbos which will cost at least a grand. Unless you have the money ready (or a second car) dont up the boost IMO.:o

Chapter 7:Turbo problems I think???
' j300zxturbo' Thanks for the advice on the rad, does seem very cheap that and if it is better than the existing then thats even better. I will call them tomorrow. 'andyduff' I am thinking of just going for standard turbo but with 360 degree thrust bearings and stronger internals. I guess it makes sense to swop them both out if the engine has to come out?? '300z' I did drive it very slow coming back, I thought that if I did try and push it and parts fo the turbo got inside the cylinders I would have to scrap the car!!!! Cus I dont have £7500 for a new lump!!! Lee, Nightmare hey, like I told you, I am jinxed. I am 99% sure that its the turbo although jeff has given me a way to test if the turbo is doing its job. It seems as though I am always battling against the car to keep it running rather than have time to improve it!! 'All' Getting quotes through now of arounf £1700 fitted (standard) surely there is a cheaper alternative!!!! If not, I will use my 2-ton trolley jack and take it out myself!!!!

Good/Bad news
Hi pete, gald your car is back and all is ok. I will be there on the 30th but will be zedless as turbo has gone now and rad so I am sure it'l ltake me a while to fit these!!!;)

Chapter 7:Turbo problems I think???
Hi stuart, Yeah nothing but problems since day 1. But like you say, I am sure that once the problems are ironed out the car will become reliable. I guess the problem is with buying a 13yr old car is that you dont know the condition, and even if you did strip it down fully, could you really tell? Well, I have seen Jasons ads on Z32 so I will find out what I can get. Maybe this is the excuse I need for bigger turbos!!! Diddnt want to have to cough up yet but such is life!! The recoring job on the rad? Where can I get this done?:)

New disks and pads..........
I have had black diamond crossed and drilled discs with GS EBC and they lasted about 6 months of normal driving, they cracked around where they had been drilled, even though they still stopped the car better than anything I had previously bought. Value for money is shite though....

Chapter 7:Turbo problems I think???
Well, surpsrise, surprise. I go to pick the car up from the gearbox place and they have managed to sort the boost problem but tell me my radiator is duff, so my first question is: Where can I get a rad and is it easy to fit? Prices etc? Secondly, coming home gave the car a bit of a rag, not too much but a little and then the boost turns right down to 0psi and the car has no pick up at all. After about 5 mins I start to hear a rattle, and my missus who is behind me tells me there smoke coming from my passenger side exhaust. F**K!!!  I stop when I get home, life the bonnet and when I press the throttle it sounds like a bag of nails! Guessing passenger turbo is wan*ed! So, believe it or not this comes as no surprise because I am now convinced that I am not supposed to have a 300zx. This is no word of a lie, 1 single day has not passed when I have had a problem with the nissan, HONEST!!! Now, what is this reliability shite that everyone raves about because I just dont see it!!! Even so, I am going to get the car running even if I end up with a brand new one by changing every single part! So question, Where can I get a new turbo from? How much?, do I have to buy both sides? Is this advised? [sIGH] Sorry if I sound fed up but I am........ :( Or, on the bright side could I get bigger turbos??:)

Another 300zx driver PI55ED OFF!!!
Yoru right Lee, sometime its hard to see through all the doom and gloom but I am sure everything will be fine, and, like you say, it'll be a pukka car by the time its done! Me and the missus seen you the other day driving through Buckingham just passing the petrol station before the roundabout. Your car looked sweet.....;)
-
Another 300zx driver PI55ED OFF!!!
Yeah my missus WAS going to drive the ZED at the weekend too but now its going back to the garage to get this water leak sorted and this detonation sensor looked at!!!! Nightmare lee, total total nightmare.......:(

I phoned the garage and told them I have ******* had enough............and that they need for their own sake to ger it sorted!! I have had NOTHING, I mean NOTHING but bad luck with this car, I just want to drive the damn thing....why oh why cant I get through one day without a problem............WHY?
