  1. So it wouldnt be worth getting an engine and building that up to a high spec and then dropping it in, along with the necessary turbo ancilaries. Ill have a look in the for sale now, thanks
  2. Basically i was wondering if this was an easy task. Because i see alot of NA good condition cars go for peanuts. When i say easy i mean i know ill need alot of kit, probably a donor car, but is the engine removal precedure reletively simple. Ive only worked on renault 5's and e30's so no engines as big as these. Will it devalue the car alot also? Thanks Mark
  3. Ok, thats something to think about.
  4. so a chip and bigger injectors, or bigger turbos. How much power would be being produced at 15 psi (thats manifold pressure i take it so both turbos running 7.5psi)
  5. Hi guys, i need your wisdom on turbos... Did the JDM 300zx come with slightly bigger turbos? What are the standard size (OEM and JDM if they are indeed different)? Whats the max boost you can run on them? Thanks Mark
  6. Oh ok, was there a great power difference from the imports to the UK's? http://www.zcar.com/forums/read/3/1291249/1291249#msg-1291249 This thread makes it look easy enough, but they do have a ramp... I would be doing it on a gravel drive :D Think its best if i just start with a manual, or even just live with an auto
  7. Ok, so basically, if i am going for an auto its worth making sure its a good one, and knowing the gearbox has been looked after. But at that price i may aswell go for a manual to begin with. Did they ever do SWB TT Manual UK's btw?
  8. Hi guys, im new to zeds. I noticed there are alot more autos out there than manuals, I intend to get one fairly soon, and i was told once its not to hard to change from auto to manual. I was just wondering how much work is it really, Gearbox change? ECU change? Wiring? Anything else involved. Also is there much of an advantage to having a manual to an auto, are they just as easy to squeeze power out of. Any help appreciated. Thanks Mark
  9. My friend has actually just sold his for just under 5k Was a lovely car, r33gtst he had, hes getting a 350z next. Again, felt like there was plenty more to give with that, but he never tuned it.
  10. yeah he said it was stock just with a hks zaust, which cost him an arm and a leg actually, i saw the recipt.
  11. That easy to change is it... Ive seen so many good autos go for peanuts, but its always put me off. Ive only been in one 300 and that was an auto, i felt it had potential, but theres was plenty plenty more to give but the computer wouldnt let it go. Think i saw it boost to 10psi
  12. Ive lost interest in 200s now really. Dont know if thats a good thing of a bad thing. But im tidying up the renault 5 ready to sell over xmas. If i get what i want for the car i plan to have about £3k to spend. Gruntpa, loving that car. I always wonder whats rusting behind skirts and bumpers though when theyve been flushed in :D Im sure you took precautions though. So if anyone knows of a black or white 300 preferebly in my price range. Let me know
  13. 280hp from a c1j engine? thats impressive, mines got a TD04 turbo on it and i guesse about 180, not had it dynod yet though. Ok, i kinda made my mind up. Im going to get a 300, i know your all glad :D But, depending on how much i can save i might keep the renault aswell in a mates garage to eventually do the volvo conversion. Sound good? The s14 just wont quench my desire i think. i wanted a 300 first.
  14. Thanks, it was the s14a i was after, a manual if i go for a 200, a purple one, looks lovely. The 300 i need to learn a bit more about, i understand theres alot of options you can do. If possible i would like a SWB TT Manual T-bar, but i bet thats the one everyone wants
  15. Thats what im saying, it wont be recognised.
  16. The 5 is affordable, a 21 turbo is pricey. plus most people wont know what it is. I have had nothing but problems with the 5 overheating and carb problems, its never ending. Thats why the volvo engine is a better option, on the fueling side anyway, its EFI. The beemers on the list to go now aswell, the damn steering lock just gave up, had to hotwire the car to get it home, not happy about that. Zeds must come with their own problems though, are they easy to work on?
  17. thats quite a list, are you renting garage space for all that?
  18. I thought it would favour the Z, i just wanted another opinion. Im up for a project, but if i bought a Z i wouldn dare take it apart until i got familiar with it. Ive always prefered the looks of the 300, but i get told id suit a 200 better, dont know why that is, The choice is simple really isnt it. I was looking to have about £3K when the time came.
  19. I have a dilema guys. I have an E30 318is and a spare engine. I have an R5 turbo. I WANT a 300zx! I would like a 200sx i cant sell the bimmer, but the 5 is worth about £1500 insurance is no longer a problem. This is my dilema, my choices are. 1. Supercharge the spare engine, 2. Get a volvo 440 turbo engine and put it in the 5 3. Sell the 5 and get a 200sx 4. Or sell the 5 and get a 300zx Ive looked at an auto 200sx and 300zx and was much more impressed with the Z. I was wondering what you guys would do? I need your opinions especially between the 200 and 300 please, as your the nissan experts ofcourse ;)
  20. Um, i dont think i could afford it, when i do get one its probably gonna be a dog on its last legs that someones given up on. As good as your one looks and im sure its a luvly ride i wont be able to have it. Unless u wanna swap for a 5 GTT ;)
  21. Thats rediculous. I wont limit my choices to the speed limiter, but i think it would be a good idea. Why do imporst cost more to insure in the first place. It shouldnt make any difference, infact i think they should be cheaper as they go through checks when they come in.
  22. Maybe it really is a good thing its limited then. I just dont feel safe that fast on pubic roads, im just used to the beemer though, Its a bit rear end happy. I imagine these cars are much the same
  23. Haha, yeah 325's are fun. The milestones in insurance are a bit silly. My dad always boasts his insurance on his honda fireblade at £85
