  1. Personal experience FunkySi, their cheap as chips for a fast car. Bought mine for £800, rebuilt the engine 3 times since, fitted a TD04 turbo from a scooby, various parts bought. My total is still at £1600 minus tax mot and insurance.
  2. Ha, no worries. Parts are readily available and cheap, tuning for big power is so simple.
  3. Renault 5 gt turbo The thing is, i can fix that car with my eyes closed, if a ZX breaks down on me its gonna cost, but my thinking is that it wont break down as often
  4. I just saw a silver one on the road aswell. Damn it had presence. Its making me rethink ratting one. But then i thought, how nice that would be with an oxide wing and matt bonnet :D Doubt i can do that. Im having a think about my cars. Ive already got an R5 and im considering re-insuring that, or selling that and getting a Zed. I assume that car is tip top mechanically, you'll be the first to know what i do vodkashots, Northamptons not far from me.
  5. I wont be putting a roof rack on dont worry, i think thats a stupid part of the scene. It is bulls**t having tack ontop waiting to fly off. Most rats are low powered beaten first cars so people dont care about them. That golf with the stupid camber is rediculous aswell. Im not into the camber, slight stretch yes, but camber no. I still want my car to perform as it should.
  6. Just had a look on autotrader, theres a few possible candidates, but there all over 100 miles away, theres one near me i might have a look at though.
  7. Very well said sir. And by the way, that 240 is so so good lookin.
  8. The E30 is a stunner in my eyes, ive got an E30 already and in not allowed to rat that. Ive got an R5 atm that i turned to a rat, then back again for the resale. As i said, id depends on what i find in the market, if i can afford a nice Z then i wont destroy it, if i find a cheap scruffy working one though, it will be getting the full treatment :D Seems to be very split down the middle on here... I know its a VW thing, but thats why its more original to do it to a jap car, ive only seen a few matt jap cars and a few rat hondas, but never a ZX (supercar in my eyes)
  9. Well, if i find a cheap enough car ill do it. And ill post pics for you all to see :D Ideally id have 2 cars, one rat/toy, one polished daily.
  10. That car is beautiful, Its an aquired taste, like granny porn. Ive seen that car before, but not from that angle, its a sileighty isnt it? hard to tell. Thats the style i would go for, Id keep a large part of the car mint though.
  11. I just had a look, its not bad, it looks too good to rat that one. Whats with the tape on the window?
  12. Thats nice :D Ive just found a tasty red one for sale near me, its priced itself out of the rat range, so this discussion might be for nothing anyway ;)
  13. Yeah i have seen some go very cheap, they always seem to be the other side of the coutry when they come up though. Ive obviously seen rust on them, im not that much of a newbie ;) How about Matt Blacking the whole car then? No rust...
  14. Are you trying to put me off destroying a ZX FunkySi?
  15. Thats quite good to know their aluminium actually, Are any of the other panels aluminium? (i didnt put that hole in the bonnet btw :D)
  16. I can't work out what goes through someones head when they want to do that. Make something look shit! They did that with Michael Jackson's face and everyone took the piss out of him! Well, the bonnet had been cut to put a big stupid evo vent in it, i riveted on a sheet. Basically it was scrap anyway, thought id give it a go
  17. Damn, my plan foiled, ok, ill leave the bonnet alone. Still, a shiny brushed ally finish also appeals to me ;)
  18. Yeah i suppose, ive been watching the market, seen some lovely tidy ones going for as little as £1400, but if i can get one for say £1000, i might consider it. Ive done a bonnet before with an orbital sander, had to rub lemon juice and bleach in it to get it lovely and uniform. Unless theres something special about these bonnets? Are they plastic or something :D
  19. Guys im all for a gorgeous finished Z with lovely paintwork, but the point is i doubt ill be able to afford that. Agreed that most rat cars look crap, and to do it to be different is just stupid. But i like the fact, it still stands out a bit and its less hassle, if someone bumps your car in a carpark, so what. If the paintwork gets scratched, so what, you can lean on it without worrying about damaging it. Tbh the look i go for is just a rusty pannel, like the bonnet and boot or something, i am quite against destroying perfectly good cars, but when its a removable pannel its different, and if the cars shot anyway, why not
  20. Im probably setting myself up for a flaming here, but has anyone ever ratted a Z You know rust n matt black everywhere :D I intend to get myself a Z in the very near future, i just thought that i could get a cosmetically challenged one (thats mechanically sound) and go nuts on it. What do you guys think?
  21. I just think to have a fast car thats an auto kinda defeats the object, ive been in both manual and auto 300s and i prefered the manual, in my mind i think theres less to go wrong aswell, ive heard horror stories about the auto boxes not being maintained. But when the time comes i doubt colour or transmission will sway me from getting one, all will be considered.
  22. I wasnt intentionally advertising, but ok no worries.
  23. Its gonna be well nice that car. Thats a very kind offer thanks, ill probably be looking over xmas when im back from uni so ill just contact you then. I have to get rid of a car first, ** Edited** :D
  24. £750, how did you find that?? I look on piston heads and ebay and the for sale thread on here every day to keep my eye on the ball but ive never seen a deal like that. It was a manual i was after btw, so if i did do the change i would manual conversion it while i was at it. I see what you mean about not getting a dog though, it makes perfect sense. I was hoping to either get a nice example, or go cheap and get one with rough bodywork, as i dont mind matt blacking it then as long as the engine is all good. Ill still keep my eye out for a car :D I cant wait to get one, ive been aiming for one for years now.
