  1. Nice info - series 4 and 5 for me... And there's far more gear in the series 4 version S than there is on the series 5 version S... Far more!
  2. ...battery's in - colour matches the car. Cheerz Jack
  3. V6 power - my Z's midnight purple. I bought it for the colour, and the fact that it's a 97. Just fitted some BBS alloys and have yet to paint them graphite grey - like the ones on page 101 of Brian Longs recent Z book. cheerz Jack
  4. Richard - you can. Alternatively, leave it in the garden by the back door. This is very kind of you, ...leave a note of how much you want fot it. Cheers Jack ...Donnington? - not trying to blow up the gearbox again are you?
  5. Richard - you are a star. I'm not in any hurry, just let me know when suits you. cheerz Jack
  6. What amps? should an NA battery be? The failed on on the car is all in Japanese so I'm not sure what to ask for when I buy a new one. Thanks in advance. Cheerz Jack
  7. ...and the metal bit that warns you of an expired disk pad is normally placed at the back of the disk, so you'll need to remove the pad to check it's thickness - or at least get a good look through the rear of the caliper. Also, it's ben know that these metal low-pad warning thinks can get bent with a stome etc and squeel when they are not supposed to. A warped disk would affect your low speed breaking, I've never known one to make a noise. ...and talking of stones - it could be a trapped stone between the disk and it's guard. Good luck Jack
  8. I did one on Saturday. Faced the car into the sun with the boot open. After an hour when it'd got hot (co the sun) the black tint peeled off quite easily - leaving the glue, which took longer than the tint film to remove using white spirit... Good luck Jack
  9. Thanks for the list - it's not the year of the car that I'm after, it's the date the belt was changed. Re the date of the car, the bottom of the seat belts is a good indication, as is a date on the reverse of the carpet at the drivers footwell. Cheerz Jack
  10. I'll check it out this evening - I'm pretty sure it's a date and a km reading, scribed into the alloy sticker. Thanks for all the help. Cheerz Jack
  11. Rich - why wouldn't they just put the date that the belt was changed? When ever I've done them I've always written the date and the mileage so that which ever arrives first - 4 years or 60k miles etc etc... you know when to do a belt change. Do the Japanes work it differently?
  12. ...it's something to do with them starting counting years afresh once a new emperor (I think) gets power. Unlike us where we started counting at the death of Jesus (AD)... So I think that the 88 isn't a constant, it changes year on year and could go back to 1 whenever the current emperor? pegs it... Cheerz Jack
  13. ...many thanks for the info - I thought it was eighty something. I'll now be able to understand the timing belt changed sticker... Cheerz Jack
  14. Can anyone tell me the number I need to add to a Japanese date to find out our equivalent year? Many thanks Jack
  15. wash off the fluid on the paintwork too - over time it'll remove the paint.
  16. vigilante - thanks for the SEO reminder - I'll get onto it.
  17. here's mine - I'm the bloke with the light bulb. http://www.2cs.com
  18. ...just noticed! ...just been through my 1000th post - only taken me 6 years...
  19. Sounds to me like a dry clutch release bearing. I've no experience of them on a Z but on other cars where you had access to it via the engine compartment, a drop of oil on the bearing used to get rid of the noise. Good luck Jack
  20. ...have you an auto eletrician close by? My local auto electrician seems to be able to get bits really quickly - next day normally. If ever I buy from Nissan I have to stand at a parts counter for half a day ringing a bell - till someone turns up. Good luck Jack
  21. ...might not be the motor - there's a control box that's weak in the door. Wire the motor up to the battery first to check that it's working. Actually you can wire the motor to earth to bypass the box - this works, but often - well, I'll let you find out what happens...
  22. Nismo - SuffolkZX is your man - he's done it all, he'll tell you what's needed. Good looking car you've got there. Cheerz Jack
  23. I think that the only Z's he sees are mine. All he was saying is that it'll use more fuel snd the ECU might have problems cos it's set up to have a cat. But, of interest is the fact that he has a 'wooden' leg. You can imagine the contortions he has to make to get in and out of the car. I remove the targas to help him. He's a good bloke. We shouldn't jest. Cheerz Jack
  24. any vinyl sign manufacturer will make you a set of stickers - wouldn't cost much. Take one to your nearest signs place and ask them. Good luck Jack
