  1. when I took them off I had the cluster tilted upwards and to the right and removed the connecters starting from the left... gets easier as you go then
  2. just changed mine over today... there are small tabs to squeeze in the middle of the connectors, and you have to squeeze them as near to the cluster as possible as there's some plastic in the way. Once you've got these pressed down they slide off easily:) hope this helps James
  3. ohh thank you!!! I'm assuming it's just the speed alert getting confused and doesn't actually mean anything then.. thanks again James
  4. did the swap today, and as everybody said, it was dead easy, but a little time consuming. Everything works nicely but I now have a litlle bell that rings every time I come to a stop (like when you have the lights on and door open). Any ideas? Thanks, James PS I'm ordering my user manual this weekend :D
  5. LOL, guess you need to have the beast next to stock to really appreciate how much work you've done. Nice :D :D James

Nelson, I've not met you and don't want to insult anyody here .... but it was obvious from the start :D :D That's why everyone's laughing while reading this thread Vicky - nice work... unless of course you were being serious :D James PS Nelson - do you know how old Vicky is and what she looks like?
  10. Sounds like I may have to replace the clutch to sort out the release bearing :( apart form the annoying squeel, what other damage is being done? And considering I only have upgraded exhaust at the moment and don't plan on any performance mods in the near future ( want to make sure everything is sweet before modding) is it worth staying with stock or going for an aftermarket one like RPS from Smithy? Is there much difference is price? Thanks guys! James
  11. never mind, I'll just live with the limiter until I upgrade the ECU.. I take it the JWT ECU's and the like are delimited :D :D
  12. arse, i thought the uk cluster would reset the limiter to 155 like the uk one...
  13. I'll give it a go and see then... only asking about the light since it'll be nice to wire up the warning light from the UK cluster to the switch for the 'new' rear foglights ( i think there's a fog-light warning anyway, I'll have to go have a look)
  14. for anyone who may have attempted this.. Are they a straight swap? ot are there a few wires to change around. And if anyone knows which wire is for the fog-light warning that would be great. Passed the MOT today, so hope to get round to doing this in the next few days. Cheers, James PS talking about MOT's, had to go to three stations before I found a ramp I could get on! and even they had problems :(
  15. try dorset insurance group on 01202 302888 they were the best for me 23, 3 NCB, living in crime ridden Hackney :D oh yeah, modified imports, don't insurance companies just love them!
  16. all I can say is that I'm still grinning from the drive home yesterday, even though I was taking it easy since I had no plates. :D :D that was the first I've driven one of these cars and I'd say if you aren't grinning like a fool there's probably a problem.. cheers, James
  17. have a look at these... http://www.zcentre.co.uk/interior/radio.shtml I was thinking of getting the little cubby hole myself
  18. when I logged on this moring he'd posted a link to some porn site on all the new threads.... cheeky c**t Anyway, it's been dealt with now...
  19. nah.. it doesn't go away after it's warm, 2hrs of motorway crusing and it was still squeeking away, at least it'll stop my habit of leaving it in gear with the clutch down in traffic LOL
  20. that was quick!! thanks for the replies I'll try the headlights tomorrow... not too worried about the locks as I'm getting an alarm fitted soon, just a bit strange not locking the car.. clutch is a really loud squeeking from engine bay, quite a high pitch metallic scraping kinda thing... if it is the cluth release bearing is it much work? probably get Jeff at ZedWorld to sort it when I get my service. Thanks again James
  21. drove all the way home with no plates without any problems, just a few comments at the petrol station and from the RAC man... lots of stares though, took it easy all the way to avoid drawing too much attention to myself - kinda difficult in the Z though :)
  22. OK, picked up my Zed Today :D :D Then had a heart attack a mile down the road when it spluttered to halt ... eek... thankfully it just ran out of petrol before i could get to a station - RAC soon sorted that!! Anyway stupid questions.... 1) how the hell do you lock the doors!! turn key but nothing happens, interior locks work though 2) how do you flip from dip to main beam... 3) car is sweet apart from a squeeking noise when clutch is pressed?? maybe a bearing somewhere? goes when clutch is lifted again. that's enough for now... opinions so far, 3rd is fun, 2nd is scary, haven't nailed it in first yet (too scared) Cheers, James
  23. gutted for you mate, but at least no one was hurt. Hopefully it won't be off the road for too long and looking better than ever when it 's back Good luck! Cheers, James
  24. don't forget the cost of a decent service when it gets here and you'll probably have to add a CAT 1 alarm for the insurers... and does the MOT work include kmh to mph conversion? happy hunting :D :D PS don't forget it'll seem like forever waiting for it to arrive :(
  25. You have to have insurance first before you can register the car with the DVLA, and the insurance company can use the VIN number. I've just renewed my insurance anyway and based it on getting the Zed, and the insurance co. were quite happy using the VIN until its registered. So at least I'll be insured :)
