Hi Craig I think you are discribing the passenger side splash guard. It also has an air vent in it to direct air to the brakes. The Z is low & all the splash guards are vulnerable to damage. Arthur

Is this the intake manifold bit? or Is it the big aluminuim thingy on the top! of the engine? is this the same bit? Do they polish up? Cos Ive got a spare one of these thingys & if it polishes up it would look nice! Arthur

I had an Austin A35 years & years ago! One day I was washing this A35 (cost £50) when a person called Al-Fayed came passed, stopped next to me to bid me a good day, then drove off for the weekend. He was in a massive white American Continental or Cadilac, chauffeur driven of course. His Farrari Dino had been driven back to London the week before! Hi Dom, Thanx for that info. I will as Ryan suggests, like yourself & take the dash off! Funny about you saying (never going to finish it) I thought that with my Passat dash off! Funny also about doing one job on my Z! then another! & another! & another!! ect!!! :rolleyes: Got a rear spoiler coming tomorrow, Z in garage, brake master cylinder being sorted today! Got a quote for matrix £40 less than £200 Dom. Awaiting local rad firm who said if I bring old one in they can make identical one, is it ALL metal or part plastic? Also awaiting Courtesy in US for quote to. Sorry for long thread :) Arthur

Hi Ryan I picked your thread up when I did a search about the matrix. I did one a couple of years back on my Passat & had to take the dash off that. Thanx for the info on Courtesy will contact them. Rich I did notice the remark on a thread about the clutch pedal on a manwell! So an auto has one advantage over manwell! Not intending to start another auto/manual debate!! Arthur

CheersTrev! I have looked at the matrix bit in the manual they say it's a PITA! Need to get a bit of hose to bypass it at the moment. I know James & one or two others have had matrix probs. Think the job is a weekend Fri-Sun jobby! Just wondering best place to order a matrix from.

I took Z out yesterday & I have WET CARPETS! I have read enough, I think, to know this means heater matrix knackered! I know afew of you have changed it or had it done. My question is how long is the job to do, where's the best place for replacement part? TT auto. Any help welcome Arthur
