Well if you think about it, that sheet can get pretty hard if left out there too long. Nope on both of my Jap 300zx's it is just a plain sealed black box. Maybe UK spec's are different as they may include the rear fog lights.

As Andy says the little black box is the "stop and tail lamp sensor". You don't need to worry about this unless you have lights out. It only controls the reverse, brake and tail lights (don't think it touches the indicators though). Haven't not seen this white box though so can't help you there. But why you have water pouring out is beyond me !!!
