99 Spec headlight inserts
Silver it is then it sounds like! Problem is vods is that I just dont have the time to be able to do things like that, im away from home sunday night to friday night normally and the rest of the time I'm with the gf. Also complicated in that I still live with my parents, and annoyingly although we have a double garage and two work shops I'm not allowed to use any space to work/store stuff in. Its all taken up with dads stuff or stuff for the railway. So (I kid you not!) the only room I would be able to do this in is my bedroom. In 6 years of driving I have jacked a car up 3 times at home - thats how little I can use the facilities here! Hell i got moaned at for getting tyre shine on the tarmac drive a few weeks ago! Cannot wait to buy a house, not long now - January!

Headlights... again.
The adjusters are fine, I did them on a beam setter not so long back at my mates work. I'll take a picture tonight of them and show you what I can see when driving... quite comical lol. Just asked my dad to help me check the earths so if this rain stops today i'll do that.

99 Spec headlight inserts
They are hopefully coming yo me as a ready to fit item. I dont have the expertise or the time to be rebuilding headlights. I would just do my own if i did lol. Rather than buying them pre done. It'll be a big enough job to fit them for me. Not sure on chrome, will go silver i think. Having said all that if i really dont like them I suppose it would be possible to change them at a later date although i'd need help lol

Headlights... again.
Yeah but im not sure if a 35w HID kit is equivalent to something more? I was having a chat with some people about it the other day and they said that the 35w kit was enough, but maybe it isnt? Having said that my old grey Z had a 35w kit in it i think (pretty sure it was as I did fit that oen) and it was much better than the standard lights and 10x better than this lol

99 Spec headlight inserts
I wasnt thinking chrome tbh, mainly because the nice chap doing them for me wouldnt want to do chrome I dont think... LOL So you think silver then? Im just not sure if it would be a bit much?

99 Spec headlight inserts
I'm buying some refurbished headlights that have 99 spec inserts in them (or they will have) I am unsure of what colour to do them to best suit my car. I was thinking black, but silver has also been mentioned? Can anyone suggest any more/better colours. Its to fit to my Silver SWB.

Headlights... again.
I've been on with this niggle for a while now but not actually done much about it. The problem is my headlights are very poor (full beam is fine, infact very good!) They are so bad that if I have a passenger in the car they do ask if I have even got the headlights on! I have decided to buy some refurbished headlights that have been cleaned and have 99 spec inserts etc as an upgrade but also to try and help with the brightness. I do have a set of 35w HIDS, they were fitted to the car when I bought it so I am unsure of the quality. I was under the impression that if they worked then they worked if you know what I mean. I did consider 55w ones but was told 35w should be ample. What I was wondering is it possible that the supply to these HID's is problematic? I assume its just 12v, is there any reason it could be lower? Can I simply take a reading from the plug that plugs into the HID balasts to see? An interesting side problem to this is that when I turn the headlights on the speedo climbs from rest to 80mph or so and then back again. It does make me think there is an issue with the vehicle electrics somewhere. Or this could be something to do with the km/h to mph converted that has been fitted.

Exhaust Fab and Auto box.
SWB aftermarket exhausts are much rarer than LWB ones so you would be better looking out for a LWB one and saving the hassel! (also leaves more aftermarket exhausts for us SWB owners lol)

Future Newbie! Anyone from Leamington/Coventry?
Thats more like 10mpg ;) Manual SWB turbos are rare So you might have to wait, especially if you want a slicktop (i.e solid roof with no targas) for a good one to come along. Happily however LWB models are far easier to come by. I would say though, the insurance quote you got was that for a UK model or an import? Bear in mind that ALOT of 300zx's in this country are imports (all SWB are for a start) and although the cars are dam near identical, the insurance often differs massivly. I was 20 when I had my first 300zx (lwb auto), it was about £1100 to insure it, I still pay 770 for mine at 23 which is through flux, Good luck with your search!

Is there a guide for this anywhere? I seem to recall it being front bumper off and go from there or is that wrong? Cheers Chris

A subjective view on moderation
So just out of interest then, who decides who is on the commitee?
-
A subjective view on moderation
When was that? Back in may? You did fill all the positions (although I think one stepped down) and had more than 3 applications. I know because I applied and was turned down. So you had at least 4 ;) LOL

A subjective view on moderation
Thats what I was getting at! Subscribed members only of course, but a vote each year for the moderating team I think would be a good idea. Nomination only though (top 5/10 or whatever) An exisiting mod can nominate them selves for automatic entering into the vote. We could be modern and use first past the post so the top 10 (or however many we have) with the post votes get to be mods.

A subjective view on moderation
Okay, but why cant the original thread be laid on for all to see so they can draw their own conclusion, plus any other evidence/happenings etc. I'm not just talking about Simon, any "event" like this. (For example the bust up which caused the "other" site) I dont think that the small post is really representaive as to the ins and outs of it. As ever I realise there are two sides for a story. But a statement prepared after isnt exactly showing the whole event. I do find it a bit strange that this being a subscription website that people can be banned by a select few moderators, who arnt selected by the subscription payers.

Electric seats.
Well no thats very true. Not with these dam things!
-
Electric seats.
Yeah probably, mine only had one plug underneath the seat and one plug from the seat into the car. I suppose as long as there is a supply and return on that plug then it just gives the seat the gift of electricty and the rest it does on its own?

A subjective view on moderation
I can see a thread posted up about it, but i cant see the ACTUAL thread. (unless there is something wrong with account?) What use is a report written by the commitee? It could easily be just as much as "half a story" as to what the other party involved says!

Electric seats.
I'm on a role today! lol
