  1. realy sorry my friend. Glad your okay (ish!) what is interesting though is how well the zed faired in the crash, all this time iv been thinking they would fold up like a tin can!
  2. its the guy trying to find his old car i think.... Posted on like 50 topics through the forums!
  3. alot of ZX's creak under braking, i dont think its a serious problem. Can you hear it all the time while braking. Most people only complain about it when coming to a complete stop. But i wonder if thats because of other noises that drown on the creaking while they are driving. Is it on a standard brake set up?
  4. Mine does this from time to time, a very weird feeling i have put it down do a dieing o2 sensor. Checked on Consult and the right one is slow to respond, if it does at all. Does it when cruising at say 30mph suddenly it will go quiet and then not really notice a slight depression in the throttle and then suddenly it will shoot of. Sounds like TPS but according to consult that is working A.OK. Does the same at all speeds, same on the motorway. Also gives a slightly rough sounding idle at times. Ironically a quick dab of the throttle normally fixes it. Just one of those annoying faults, like the clock... and the ariel...!
  5. so is it working okay now? Or are you saying you are in great form... Not the car :) If and when i get hold of the suitable parts for a manual conversion, if you are still interested in an auto box, mine was reconditioned 15k ago... :)
  6. i havnt... but they are quite nice i must admit! :)
  7. thank the previous owner ;) I dont mind them, sounds quite good lol Will be better when i get rid of this dam single exit exhaust! Nah, i let em wonder about what a real car sounds like. They would die of shock, they are only used to hearing 1.1 saxos with sound boxes to "faithfully reproduce that turbo charged sound" and a homebase bucket for an exhaust!
  8. ah thats not so bad then. Just have to work out if its worth it... Or to just sell and buy a manual!
  9. i had a couple of little chavs come up to me while i was sat in traffic in town the other week and asked me "does it have a dump valve", my response "yeah its got two" as too which they replied "make it do it then" LMAO
  10. 700 to 800 for parts i presume. How much for the labour on all that? I mean im pretty sure i wouldnt be able to manage that. (might be following you atc300.... want a manual box now) Also, my auto box has fairly recently been replaced with a reconditioned one, about 15k ago now i think it was. Anyone got any ideas as to what its worth?
  11. lol.. was going to say i would be impressed if mine was 300! 350 you'll need like what, remap with a suitable boost increase to around a bar and decatted? with exhaust and filter.
  12. 350 brake from a filter and an exhaust?! Hell fire!
  13. it would take some cash and some work, but could you not find a tt with say blown turbos, tatty bodywork etc with a reasonable gear box, rob its gearbox and then sell the remains as parts. Keep your fine example on the road... End of the day, your broken box must at least be worth somthing because there will be working parts in there... so to anyone with the skills in repairing it its worth somthing in its self. Let alone everything from the doner Z... :)
  14. what sort of cash do you want for that mate? i jsut dont want to struggle with all the pipework because im a bit well, useless!
  15. cheapest to insure is the UK model, which are all long wheel base twin turbos. anything else is an import, so the na, short wheel base and the convertible are all imports, along with a vast majority of long wheel base TT's. there are a number of subtle differences which are all in the buying guide. quick reference tho, obviously the badging. "fairlady Z" on the back, and the Z badge on the bonnet. but also on the sides of the rear bumper the jap cars have reflectors there and no fog lights. where as the uk ones dont have the reflectors and have two fog lights built into the bottom of the bumper :)
  16. ah yeah, that makes sense. Being the laziest creature i know, i think i'll look into the complete kit... reduces the chance of being breaking somthing quite severly. Thanks for that guys
  17. if they want to suck the dents out of mine and give it a touch up here and there they can use mine ;) lol....
  18. I was having a look last nigh tfor one and i couldnt seem to find one... Maybe im looking for the wrong thing but does anyone know how much they cost, where i could get one from and how hard they are to fit. Or does it require somone with more technicaly know how than me. I.E more than your average rock? :)
  19. bloody hell! my fuel gauge cant be that accurate then lol... its right on the line at E and i can get 55 or 56 in it.... Gotta tell you dude that its dropped, where i live were down to 100.9 i tihnk!!
  20. depends where you live, and if its a jap or UK spec. go through somthing like confused.com or money supermarket and you can get a quote... do what i always do change your date of birth when your scouting for quotes to what you will be when you plan to buy... so you get a more accurate figure of what to expect. I pay just over 1300 for mine, im 20 with 1 years NCB. its a jap spec, but i do live out in the middle of nowhere, so im technically a low risk area. Its also garaged and alarmed and it has a tracker (which is actually true!!) etc etc etc,
  21. full tank is about 50 to 55 quid, V power obviously, especially on a jap spec. I get about 180 to 200 miles out of my auto TT around town, 250 to 270 on the motorway taking is easy at 70 to 80. which is about 18mpg and 25mpg i think. So not good, but you dont buy one of these to drive economically!
  22. didnt the jap spec have the power and hold switch and lockup on second third and overdrive, where the UK spec only had lock up on third and overdrive? And no mode switching?? Also subtle differences in the lever lock i think as well?? Perhaps?
  23. i'm 20 dude... cheema2007 if he is still about had one at 19 i think he was.... What will be comical, and i think it will possibly somtime next year is where some young un like us gets hold of a 1989 Z32 and bingo, we have a driver the same age as the car, or the year after the car older than the driver... not bad for an "affordable" sports car lol
  24. ah okay then.... not expecting immenent failure then... its on its second auto box already, only done 12k on this one....
  25. Sorry to Hi-Jack.... Mine appears to do similar to yours, or somthing odd anywa first and second are fine (lock up working fine on 2nd) the change into 3rd is a little different. Either creeping about or really flying it seems to change and hover out of gear for a moment or two and then drop into it. Like a slow gear change. I just assumed this was normal but it would appear not. Is this my 'box failing as well? Or nothing to really worry about Overdrive is fine, as is lockup on both 3rd and overdrive.... Thanks!
