Max Boost on standard fuel pump/ECU
No Because the exhaust (if its cat back) only affects the gases and pressures behind the cat which is fine, cant make anything any worse. Idealy on a turbo car you dont want an exhaust, you want as little back pressure as possible, this way the turbine is not affected by pressure backing up and slowing the acceleration of the blades. However, most zeds are at the very least 15 years old, so old johnny turbo at the back and bottom of the engine has got very used to haveing its weakened seals held in place by the nice pressurised environment that is allowed through the cats. As soon as you remove them the pressure is gone, so when the turbos spin they try to force oil passed the leaking seal since its no longer held where it should be, which burns in the exhaust and hey presto smoke.

Max Boost on standard fuel pump/ECU
I would do some searches about decatting old zeds.... Its generally not a good idea. Removes the back pressure which can accelerate the weakening of the turbo seals, remember engine has got to come out to replace them. Its up to you.

Max Boost on standard fuel pump/ECU
Although ive not quoted it, i get the impression STU300SMZ has fitted an electronic boost controller to the car, and perhaps wacked it up to around the 14psi mark perhaps with a suitable AndyP or DTA chip If its a UK - 95 OK (Idealy a UK should be run on 99 anyway especially if you are increasing the boost pressure) If its JDM - 99 if possible (and definitely if you intend to do anything with it) Unless the chip you are going to use is specificially mapped to use 95 RON fuel. But that would be fairly pointless - because it will make less power than on 99. Be told, use 99 or it will most likely go bang! Hell its only 5p a litre difference anyway, £2.50 extra a tank is going to be the least of your worries money wise with a 300zx!

No, YOU could do it in two weeks, it would take me two years to find the parts! Unless you want to do one in two weeks for me :D;)

Volvo C30 with the T5 Engine
that'd be why it looks shite then! I think its about the moast boring splodge of car ut on the road at the moment... at least with a normal volvo you can look forward to whats around the next corner of its body... with this its just like an ugly duckling!

v6 v v8
There are a few V8 300zx's around. However, there is so much to consider... It sounds like you intend to have your ENGINE removed by a garage and have the work done. If you intend to send your car to a garage and a v8 ( as yet undecided) fitted to it, it would cost the earth. So first thing to decide, can you do it yourself in your own facilities and in your own time? If that comes back as yes, you need to find out what fits and what you can get hold of engine wise... there are one or two conversions ongoing/complete (im not sure actually) with the Nissan VH45 V8, so you could perhaps get some pointers there do a search perhaps.. Also the GM LS1 engine is a popular yank conversion (one or two around here as well i think??) So then youve got to think about some transmission, Auto or Manual? What will fit the engine your getting? Then once thats all decided we need to find some looms and electronics to control the engine and other systems on the car etc. Then you need to think about rebuilding the V8 engine so its ready to go into the car, what are you going to do with that, standard tune motor? Or Supercharge it (will it fit etc) Then you need to get all the bits and start work..... Ive not even scratched the surface there so its not a case of putting a v8 ENGINE in the car... alot more too it than that.

Max Boost on standard fuel pump/ECU
Nope have to use high octane really, especially if you intend to drive it hard and even more so in winter. As a rule, the original Jap ECU is mapped for 100 ron (so i believe anyway) You dont want 97.... V power @ 99 is the best bet. No problems then, i know i had to stick £20 of asda shite in mine one day as an emergancy... and it felt shite, didnt want to drive at all! One thing i have found with these cars is have £1500 tucked away at all times for a rainy day, if you have that money you never have any problems.... as soon as you dont have the money to fix it you can gaurantee that it will bite you in the arse and do something costly.

you need super if its a Jap 300zx anyway! (and by super, V-power, none of this tesco 97 ron shite!)

...Am I running with increased boost?!
hehe 3 minutes ahead of me!

...Am I running with increased boost?!
hell... standard RWHP on a TT is about 240! They are only 280bhp - 300bhp at the fly depending on model. So youve got 80BHp for nothing.... or an inaccurate dyno! If it was 323 at the fly then that is plausible for a car with induction, exhaust etc.

Robbing, thieving b@stards!!!!!!!
Mine is 770 3rd party fire and theft and I'm 21... although it is "Garaged" (I do actually have a double garage but other shite lives in there...!) and i have my dad on it as that drops it by £200 for some reason. I have no points and have been driving for 3 years and 2 years no claims. Thats with the Flux

Is this a UK car?
it has fogs in the bumper its self, which is a UK bumper... No sure fire way to tell if the car is UK spec or not from those pictures. Easiest way is the log book! It does have a UK nose panel. 8 owners isnt so bad, i think im the 10th on mine! LOL

- LPG Route anyone?
Also remember.... (and everyone forgets this) Your consumption of LPG is about 40% more than that on petrol. So although its half the price... you need almost half as much again to do the same miles.... Its certainly worth considering since I dont think many people do big milages in their 300zx's so the advantages suddenly take alot longer to come in order to pay of the setup cost.. Ive been in a few cars that ran on LPG, and they performed so much better on normal petrol, the worst for it was actually a vokswagon sharon, the owner had to put it on petrol if he wanted to overtake... quite funny! I've also heard of recent times that it contributes to premature head gasket failiur as well!- good news (finacially)
Thats awesome new dude! Congrats for getting it all sorted out! Have a slice of Pizza for me!- Series 4 table spoiler
I thought you had already sold that Graham?? Hmm I'll think about it, Im just weighing up the options steve. I think i'm going to try for a smooth tailgate first, just with the perspex strip then see how i like it. Then if i dont like it i can stick a spoiler on there afterwards :)- Anyone have a SMZ version Zed?

Now made into a Sticky :) I shall attend this if i can, reasonable time off though... I'll get it pencilled onto the Calendar!- Could it have been bad petrol??
what fuel did you have in it before? And what do you have in it now? Metalic Pinking noise sounds like det to me!- m3 made my day
ha genius! I'd have taken the bait and got nailed no doubt :( I had a similar experience last year at my old job, was working one saturday and i finished about lunch time so thought i'll dash home and enjoy some of the day. So i set of from stoke way (about 100 from my house) in my van, vauxhall vivaro at the time leisurly cruising at 90 or so and came accross a knot of slow moving traffic.... El plod in the inside lane causing everything to slow so i slowed down to 70 to get passed him. But young and impatient as i still am i started to accelerate once i was fair amount past him, got back upt to around the 90 mark anyway, blue flashing lights and this discovery shot accross 4 lanes after me. (Anyone who knows the M6, blackpool junction!) So i panicked, braked and pulled into the 3rd lane.... An irate honda civic undertook me for braking in front of him... So off accross 3 lanes goes Johnny copper and pulls the civic for undertaking me! HEHE I scuttled home with my tail between my legs thanking my lucky stars that day LOL - LPG Route anyone?
