another clutch problem
I tell you what, alot more steering feel in the M3 than my 300zx! Heavier, and the clutch and gearbox are no where near as sweet as my 300's box was like silk, and tight as anything where as the beemers is a bit mushy and the clutch although now improved is still not that good, no judder tho like i got from the 300zx Id say the two issues are related mate... perhaps master or slave cylinder leaking?

help please ppl, non starter
The wavy lines light is cat overheat... I had this one where it just died for no reason, No real explanation but what did cure it was simply plugging a laptop into it on a conzult cable, laptop was still switched of at the time yet it somehow cured it. So the only think i could put it down to was some sort of standing static charge sat over the car/Ecu/imobiliser god knows but it fixed it and never did it again!

BMW Owners
Could easily be that then, check control was available on all E36's, 316 right through to the M3 Evo. Best thing to do is look at http://www.e36coupe.com and have a butchers in there, there will be a fix and which wires to bridge to return no resistance for the light modules. Or get some check control enabled lights. Anything else we can help u with?? I have an M3 Evo atm and have had another E36 in the past (323i Coupe) so seem most of the stupid things which go wrong on em!

BMW Owners
What model of BMW is it? I assume its an E36. The check control feature is basically a series of self tests on the ancilary systems in the car, bulbs, brake light circuit, washer fluid level that kind of thing So its not strictly nessacery. There are lots of things which could cause it to show "check control status" either a dead sensor, or maybe none check control rear lights on a check control car. OR somone has fitted an on board computer to a none wired up car. ( i.e started retrofitting it and never finished)

North West Rolling Road Day
nice bit of straight road under the motorway junction i use, also the main road into town with the shell petrol station on it, a wagon has managed to be driving along and then all the toxic shite onboard has fallen off. Now not only did this happen at 2 this afternoon and they are still buggering about with it theyve closed the bit of road i need to use to get to the petrol station from the other side if i go the back way... arghhh!! So i went to get petrol, and have come back with slightly less than i had before.. charnock richard robbing gits it is for me tomorrow morning then! To add insult to injury, although this all happened before this latest escapade... i was coming of the motorway at about 2:15 this afternoon after a record breaking 5:15 run to banbury and back and was diverted around town to get home PAIN! Then had to take a friend to the airport, and took ages to get to his because no motoroway... PAIN Then coming back from the airport STILL shut (as would dictate it still being closed now) had to come of at J33 and bugger about in the back lanes with a heavily loaded van... Grrr!

North West Rolling Road Day
i'll go first... that way when a zed drops all its oil it wont grease up the rollers ;) hehe Straws is good for me... or unless there are people that have got strict leashes to attend to. A running order wouldnt be a bad idea though, then people can have their cars nice and warm ready for it. I'll not be running the m3 unless its got at least 80*c in the oil!

2-3k car ideas?
yeah very strange that youve come accross that. i wonder if its possible that due to the higher power output the 328 maybe suffered from the niksil issue more that its got a bit of a worse reputation? Do you know what the 28 was supposed to suffer from reliablity wise? Im no expert but i will confess that im a bit of a BMW nut, and i've done quite a bit of reading about the E36 and E46 and now owned a couple of E36's, had bmws in the family for years as well so thats where the obsession has come from i think LOL (E32, E36, E38, E39 and E65). I have to agree with you that the E46 Coupe is a lovely car, ive a friend who has a 320i sport (all the m body pack etc) and it looks the nuts. Nicely specced as well, much better so than the E36. I wish i could have been able to afford an E46 M3 instead of the E36 but hey ho. Go buy an E46 - come to the dark side my friend ;)

2-3k car ideas?
the 323 and 328 M52's are very similar engines both have same diameter bore the 328 has a longer stroke crank and shorter rods - so im not sure how one can be any more or less reliable than the other. They all suffer from water pumps and thermostats but other than that most will cover interstella milage. The nikasil issue although a problem is often over hyped, if it was going to go then it would have done by now and the ones that did have mostly been replaced by BMW. But no problem at all on the E46 as it was week 10 in june 98 i think it was cured by, with the introduction of the alusil lined block. So only an issue in the E36, E38 and E39. Very late M52 may have had bi vanos, however im sure this was only on the E39 but i could be wrong. 323i- 2.5l 170bhp 328i - 2.8l 193bhp If the budget will allow find one with an M54 engine (when they went back to 320i 325i and 330i) They had dual vanos and were a marked improvement over the often stranged M52. However the 320i has all the disadvantages of being 6 cyl without the performance. Only thing you do get is the noise! 320i - 2.2l - 170bhp (worth noting though that the 320i is down on torque compared to the 323i 325i - 2.5l - 192bhp 330i - 3.0l - 231bhp
