Absolutly insane I feel like putting some 20" chrome spinners on the m3! Like with the now inability to save because there is no interest rates, the people who were careful/not greedy etc are once again being watched for doing well when everyone else who lived on credit now cant have their nice cars Its as bad as, but the total opposite of, todays news story about people on scooters, some study has shown (which i believe if im honest) that most of the people on those hatefull little whiz pop things are of their face on alcohol, drugs, or a mixture of the two and have no license. Yet the police's response today was "its a small problem that we cant do much about"... Yet they can quite happily speed camera law abiding, sober, none drug taking motorists who are going to work, or picking the kids up for doing a couple of mph over a stupidly low limit so that they are now the "criminals" so you loose your license and your life is ruined. Just does my head in, cannot understand the hatred the government/police have the average male white driver! (I'll add in my rant, i was buying tax for my car the other day, and there was a woman in there who hadnt paid for her tax for 5 months!!! So she had been pulled by the police, but she had started crying so the copper let her off!. The excuse was "I moved house and so DVLA didnt send me the reminder". Well im sorry, most people find it easy enough to look at the disk in the windscreen once a year! Where as I drove the mile from the petrol station in my village up towards my house and got pulled and fined by the police for not wearing a seatbelt, fair enough i was in the wrong but surely lack of car tax for 5 months is worse than not having a seatbelt on?!)

The cat its self is the retrictor, so to decat a car and then put a restrictor into the exhaust would simply make your cars emissions worse... The issue with decatting these old cars is that the turbo seals will be failing with age and cats can go somewhere to holding the required backpressure in order to keep these seals intact to some extent. In reality the cat is masking a problem thats already there, but the cats mask the problem and limit its affect on the car. When decatting its often the case that these seals and you'll begin to experience smoking from the cars exhausts. If i were you i wouldnt decat it (too many horror stories from people that have done it) unless you've got the funds to rebuild/replace the turbos should this problem become apparent. If you do some searches on the forum you'll find other peoples experience with this issue.

I cant remember what year they lost variable valve timing? Might be able to identify it from that. Failing that im sure there must be some sort of plate on it somewhere with a manufacture date?

the interior, or at least a sumpless autobox id say boys and girls. The big black plastic bit id assume is the strainer which got squashed when the sump was damaged?

(to be honest you might have been on the M60 but there or there abouts :) Looked a fairly nice standard ( i think, looked like standard spoiler and standard alloys) LWB TT at a closing speed of 140+ its somtimes tough to notice other differences lol Was it you?

Im not sure if this could be causing it BUT most sound jacks on PC;s are auto sensing. Thats to say the jack works out what is plugged into it on its own. Now if for whatever reason the autosensing technology cant identify whats in the jack then it'll perhaps keep trying voltages and signals until it does work it out... meaning that you could possibly get intermitant interferance. There is probably a way of turning the feature of within the sound driver but i wouldnt know where to tell you to look without seeing the software. Basically if you can tell it that its plugged itno somthing and tell it NOT to auto sense it might fix the problem :)

Aint nothing about it thats anything to do with AC Schnitzer apart from the spoiler thats been nailed on the back...! (speaking of which, it will need a new bootlid as they have used steel bolts which have rusted ;) ) Might be genuine parts but certainly not factory/dealer fit! I'd find alot more out about it. They are VERY expensive cars to run and the servicing can be prohibitive, it needs a FULL history and get it checked over by BMW before taking it off his hands. Its not to say that its not a bargain but id hate to see you lumbered with somthing you cant get rid of because i have to say most M5 buyers will have done their homework.

i had one of these on mine as well, did exactly the same was going to have it chipped and when i looked found it had already been done... Im sure mine had 8492 on it as well, i've got some picture at home (in glasgow atm) whcih i'll dig out and see if it was the same. From what i found out, the mines chips generally run very rich so allow you to run higher boost, and increase the rev limit to 7550rpm and set a speed limit of 255mph or somthing LOL (so basically delimit the car)
