  1. go into the conzult options and change it to com port three and check the box like in the usb set up guide. :D I managed to sort mine and it works fine now!
  2. A good importer will change the plates, do all the registration for you, add a fog light (in what form differs), possibly change the ecu mapping for our lower octane fuel. Car ideally should come with the auction papers showing condition as well. In addition to what you'd expect from a dealer. If it's from japan, they drive on the same side as us so the headlights are fine
  3. it's a shame that those in charge no matter who they are eventually take more than they should and let greed take over. What they have done is morally wrong, but a lot of them (there are exception that falsely claimed) have done nothing legally wrong. One guy made a very good point on the news earlier, which doesn't justify the expense claims made but makes you think. When accused of falsely claiming for a telephone bill, He asked the news reporter what she earned and she said £92k, he stated that he earns less than half that (minus expenses) and tbh i agree with his point that his government position is more of benefit to us than a bloody news reporter. I think unfortunately forward thinking, hard work and real skills are what's missing from britain. There are lot of people that take vast amounts without contributing significantly. Its why i think sometimes everyone puts britain down is because it's not great anymore.
  4. Slightly disturbing.... i love it!
  5. Sounds as though the ECU is restricting extended boost as something is out of tolerance. Could be anything tbh - do an ecu check and see if there are any fault codes as a starting point.
  6. According to the service manual it's 14 psi between cylinders standard 186 psi lowest 142 psi Sound like piston ring wear all round and a problem with the left hand bank with either valve damage or a leak somewhere on the head gasket. The engine is a little tired but if your not bothered about out and out performance then it'll probably run for years like that! One of those see how it goes like kirbz says if your not desperate.
  7. Hope its sorts everything! if it doesn't i'd start working through the manual trouble shooting guide. http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi engine fuel and emissions control page 42 could be either hunting or irregular idle from your description! Best of luck.
  8. Yeah should be afaik. Yep the car will smell like its over fueling to begin with then it will adjust as you drive, an A road or dual carriage way to stretch its legs once warm will do it the world of good.
  9. Reseting the ECU makes the self learn reinitiate, its takes a while for the car to settle down again, a good trip with a couple of hard runs usually sorts it out.
  10. Worth checking, as its plastic and known to break if the gearbox hasn't been removed carefully. Both Manual and Auto have them.
  11. Are you feeling nautical? I think the same pair still see active duty!
  12. didn't realise you lent that way?
  13. Do you think you could connect that up to a variable gearbox and run in it like a supercharger? by the way thats my dad!
  14. actually don't mind them lol
  15. was going to ask if it was a low grade cast type metal. But how'd it get a crack to rust in the first place? maybe damaged in transit or storage and use opened it up over time then a final big break like you say??
  16. Make sure the ECU has been connected back up properly! It doesn't always seat properly.
  17. Does it sound like heavy rain? if so you have detonation !!
  18. No problem, if dan doesn't pick up on this post i'll PM you when i know. Ste
  19. lol, just contacted dan about this. Something about update drivers on a mini cdr??? just waiting for more details Ste
  20. Check the rad cap and rad for coolant level, if it's a bit low top up with distilled water.
  21. Sounds like an electrical problem (like above) of some description.
  22. That'll most likely be the radiator overrun or aircon, both produce a bit of a puddle and are nothing to worry about. Check fluid levels if you're worried, should be fine
  23. That's two of there regular SMIC's welded together lol. Would be a better design in principle i think for avoiding turbulence clashing problems and the pressure drop you'd get with a regular FMIC. I understand why people want a FMIC for the looks but to make it really work in the zed engine bay would involve a serious rejig of the components. The flow rate over the surface of your radiator will be significantly reduced by putting a FMIC in front of the radiator and at high speed i'd suggest the FMIC would be a huge impedance to the air flow, and starve the radiator - this being the worst thing i think you can do to the car. if i was determined to have one there would have to be some kind of design of shuttling the air around the FMIC face and collect behind it onto the radiator, with an up-rated fan to keep the air velocity up and some sort of design of bonnet to allow the air to escape through.
